I think it was because they were on a low life total so I was hoping to draw into a Lotleth Giant and didn't want to use it just yet. They ended up having a cast down anyway so they would have just killed the Troll anyway.
If were talking about ditching our grave to the brim as fast as possible, faithless looting might be worth a consideration? I could imagine running 1-2 Copies to invest 3 Mana to Mill 10 with two Stinkweed Imps if we run out of cards in hand.
@vladdogarel263 It's just so hard to get into your hand with the cards we have access too. Grudge is just nice since we can mill it. Seige Smash only ever works once too. Once they see it, they will just hold a Relic/Spellbomb until they need to use it instead of it just sitting on the board.
I decided to pick this deck up for myself in paper, and I wanted to ask, what’s this deck’s plan vs broodscale combo? Is there any changes to the deck that could be made to make it better against broodscale combo?
It's going to be hard matchup is all I can say. Both decks are on their own game plan and theirs is quicker and harder to disrupt. I don't think it is worth putting anything in the maindeck to help the matchup, as it will make all your other matchups worse. I don't think they run too much GY hate in their sideboard currently, so that is a plus. You want to have some amount of interaction just to slow them down. Ray of Revelation means they need 2 spawn in play to combo off and can be cast out of your GY. Snuff Out is the best piece of interaction we can get a hold of. Seal of Doom is also an option as a card that can't be duressed. That is all I can really think of at this point in time.
I'm up to 4 Snuff Out, 2 Crippling Fatigue and 1 Skoa, Embermage in the sideboard. As long as you can keep Basking Broodscale off the table, you win the Glee match!
They always seem to combo me in one turn without Broodscale sitting in play for a turn, so I never find sorcery speed removal to actually work. As much as I would love to play Crippling Fatigue.
First match was so frustrating to watch. This deck (and any deck which uses the graveyard as a major resource) is so much fun to see piloted, but the graveyard hate in the format is miserable. I think it's especially frustrating as someone who came into Magic through limited, where stuff like that just doesn't really happen (especially in cubes curated by people who know how to minimize bad playing experiences) and you get a good opportunity to implement your deck's strategy with a better chance to win each match. It puts me off playing constructed a lot of the time, because I don't want to play the meta decks which are most likely to win - I want to play the ones I find fun without them getting utterly hosed by sideboard cards. Really appreciate the content and you powering through the rough matches, though!
I feel like the format would be miserable if both this and Cycle Storm had free reign with little to no GY hate. They are very hard to interact with otherwise. It was definitely a rough game to start off with and would have shifted it to second last if I got to pick how I ordered these. Pauper has always been very SB based thanks to Gorilla Shaman, Pyroblast and Hydroblast. I'm just used to it so I don't generally get frustrated. In saying that we almost got there through 3 GY exiles which shows the deck has some resilience.
Yeah cant believe there are sideboard cards that stop decks from just doing degenerate stuff with no counterplay. On a serious note, i do think thraben charm is kind of a design issue since its very good as just normal removal but also has unrivaled flexibility
Love your content man! You’re my favorite pauper creator to watch :)
Thanks for the kind words! Still surprises me that people actually watch my stuff.
Aye the dredge guy is back!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Never left. 😎
good games in round 2!
GGs. Rough draws with the GY hate. Hope the rest of your league went better. 👍
I am watching without audio so I might have missed something, but why didn't you exhume the troll? 35:12

hi5 and gg's :) love watching you play. I don't think I can pilot this deck, I'd just end up exhuming trolls like 90% of the time.
Algo 🎉

Why not play siege smash? It’s a great way to get rid of relics and spellbombs without allowing the opponent to pop it

Why not rust then? It's only 1 mana and can be used on more than graveyard hate pieces.
@TheCubicalGuy I do like it more than Siege Smash but has the problem of still trying to draw it. Also it isn't available on MTGO.
lets go i was thinking of asking for this deck and how rumble is in it
Same!
The answer is pretty good.

@@Kirblinxy Yeah, I went to 3 Snuff Out & 3 Seal of Doom. I found the same thing is true.

That's why i've stopped to play this trash format. Dumb cards like relic, shuts down completely entire decks.
