And she is, for some reason, always set to die on her 28th birthday. This is the 10th life, and not only is she set to die, but she's also infertile. Once she gets that news, she takes off for a few days. The happy ending is that she pranks him with an early fake death, then while he's crying, she comes out and says he owed her for the previous lives. They stay together... until she dies at 28.
