Could be worth you going to factories in your area and asking if you can have any old packing pallets, they are usually glad to get rid of them, and the timber would be great for projects like this one

I no doubt will be doing another raised bed at some point to which I had thought about making it out of pallet wood so that I would then have a range from free to expensive.
