Condenser coils have high failure/leak rate and are hard, if not impossible to repair. The small flat tubes make it susceptible to blockage. You cannot pump down system since it lacks condenser coil capacity. Micro channels do not belong in the HVAC industry for these reasons. It’s important to share the cons in this video. The cons outweigh the pros for these coils. Thanks for sharing.

I think like everything it has pros & cons. Since the channels are smaller compared to tube-fin coils, they have improved heat transfer but also more susceptible to restrictions with small contaminants.

Prove to fail technology. Worst thing to come into the HVAC industry period. Copper tube, aluminum fin coils are far durable.

Tell that to my previous three copper tube aluminum fin coils...

This is not a car it's a a/c it may work great on a car radiator but sucks in a/c or hvac world, nothing but leaks only good thing is it is made of aluminum

I install 140 of these a year with very minimal issues, like maybe one a year that needs addressing. We don't have leaks. I have experienced less than 10 failures in the last 7 years of these coils leaking. If you are leaking water... nothing to do with it being microchannel, more likely a static/airflow issue. If they are clogging on you, you didn't install them properly.
    Good product!

"You didn't install them properly. "
No I have heard that excuse from manufacturers for decades on everything from gas furnaces to heat pumps. Truth is that all manufacturers are guilty of putting products on the market before they have been perfected and they use feedback from technicians working on real installations in the field to work out all the bugs.

Designed to fail leakers. What is the warranty ? Not much. After 6 years my Nortek is leaking.

Stay far away from junk microchannel ac units or you will be very SORRY! Can't handle the pressure in home ac units but work great in much lower pressured systems in a vehicle.

My Coleman started leaking after 5 1/2 years just out of warranty. Now American standard gas packages have gone to microchannel indoor coils. Junk

Junk from China or any other country, where our greedy, corrupt, overpaid CEOs and execs, can put more profits in their back pockets, pensions, and health benefits packages.

Which pump is good for the microchannel

    • @USA-GreedyMenOfNoIntegrity
      @USA-GreedyMenOfNoIntegrity ปีที่แล้ว

A pump with a five year lifespan, because that’s all microchannel lasts in the good ole USA.

The thickness of the walls need to be increased. The overall robustness of the micro channel needs to be rethought. The pressures of 410A are to much for this. No one want's to spend thousands for something that will fail in a few years. Yes there are upsides but the downsides totally cancel them.

    • @EdgeTekHVAC

Our coils have been fully tested to industry standards and can handle 410a refrigerant.

I HAVE to fix one and heat control is extremely important. I've been practicing on a standard aluminum coil just to get use to heat control on aluminum.

I do not like them for condensers....and I'm coming around for the evaps. I was against them at first but after taking into consideration how the copper /aluminum / steel evaps are corroding....and the fact that they are now making the aluminum evap tubing much thicker...
    Tube aluminum👍 micro channel👎
