  • I traveled to the Wichita Mountains located in southwest Oklahoma. These mountains are 550 million years old making them older than many of the mountain ranges you've probably heard of.
Want to take this trip? Here was my schedule:
    DAY 1:
    Alabaster Caverns State Park
Sunset at the Little Sahara State Park observation tower
    DAY 2:
    Quartz Mountain State Park
    Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge
    Charon's Garden Wilderness Area
    Sunset at Mt. Scott
    DAY 3:
    Revisit Wichita Mountains
    Gloss Mountain State Park

Fantastic footage of western Oklahoma and the beautiful locations, Thank You. I grew up in Lawton near the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge. As a Northern Californian for decades we have amazing scenery in this part of California. However, when I vacation in Oklahoma in the Fall the Wichitas always have a special place in my heart. I love the stunning canyons, lakes, woods and boulders throughout the refuge. Medicine Park is a special destination looking up to Mt. Scott. And the view from the top of Mt. Scott takes your breath away. Many outsiders would never know such beautiful scenery exists in Oklahoma.

I love this! Beautiful job at capturing the beauty. I grew up in Altus right between quartz mtn and the wild life refuge. Never noticed the beautify until I moved away.

You have the soul of a poet. Tremendous video. No one knows how beautiful this state actually is. There are mountains all over the state, but not in Oklahoma City and Tulsa where everyone lives. Arbuckle mts are actually the oldest in the world.

Those were part of the Ancestral Rocky Mountains. On geologic maps those are called Amarillo-Whicita Highlands. There's another highland in the Big Bend region, two in Colorado and one in Wyoming. They're not sure what created those.

Hi :) Love your video! I was born and raised in north Texas. Spent some time in Oklahoma when I was growing up. Never saw the mountains up close like this. We live in Seattle, 6 years now. I was looking for videos of home. I’ll watch your other videos too. Good job!!! Thank you!
