    On the Tower for lat pulldown…. I’m 6’4.. kinda tall… ha.
    I sit on the floor… essentially straddling the tower. Works great… full range of motion and stretch. Seriously… with some ingenuity…. You can do a COMPLETE body workout….
    Word of caution…. If you’re doing “standing bench” watch for your shirt getting caught in the cables as they retract. All in all…. Fantastic machine for your machine !!!!!

      That sounds like a useful hack to sit on the ground. I'm shorter at 5'11" so I haven't had any issues sitting on a bench. I agree it's a great option to add a lot of versatility to your setup!

    I gotta admit I initially thought having both the cable tower and the lay pull down would be excessive. But I’m definitely seeing why having both makes sense. Good stuff!

      Yeah they each have their merits. If I had a little more space I would love to add a second cable tower to be able to use it like a cable crossover...someday 😂🤞

    Thanks! I have been looking at the tower cable and was thinking of attaching it to my rack so this video definitely help me with my decision!

      Thanks! I've been very happy with the cable tower. I use it in just about every workout. I'm glad you found the video helpful!

    I wanted the lat pull-down for my X-3 but then I would either have to get an extension post or bench on the outside instead because you can't put a bench inside far enough to do a bench press especially incline

      That's good to hear. I've had mine for almost a year now. I can't imagine not having it. I think it's an awesome piece of equipment at a great price! I'm glad it's treating you well too!

    Great video thanks for posting. I've had the T3 rack for a few months and am wondering which one of these two to add. From a space perspective, I suppose the lat pull down would be ideal, but i see your point about the versatility of the cable tower! Gah!! Now I am even more confused. :D

    • @DiscoveringStrength

      That's exactly right! They're both good at different things. Maybe the right answer for me is to go get a larger garage so I can fit more stuff in!!😂 Good luck on making the decision! Let me know what you decide and how it works out.👍

    Love the vids keep em coming. How does the tower feel? My concern with it is it’s actual weight bearing capacity.

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I'm glad you find value in the videos. Between the lat pulldown and the tower, the tower feels a little less smooth and lesser quality. That being said, I use it more than the lat pulldown because it's more versatile. I have recently thought about the weight capacity. I've been going heavier lately and I think I've loaded it up to about 150 lbs. I haven't noticed any problems with that but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable going past about 200 lbs. Hope that's helpful.

    I have been watching your videos and I got the same T3 rack along with the lat pull down machine, is there any way I can make my lat pull down as an adjustable pulley as well. I have a very limited space, trying to see how I can make the lat pull down as an adjustable pulley.

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmm...that's a good question. I've some add an extension cable to use it as a belt squat. I'm not sure about converting it to an adjustable pulley.
      Here's a related video from KaizenDIYGym on the belt squat idea:

    My concern, how could you do heavy weight for lat pull down when there is no mounted knee support to keep from pulling you up?

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have a point. It definitely becomes more challenging at higher weight. The most I've loaded mine is about 125lbs. It requires more body control than if you could hold your legs down. I think this is one area where where you sacrifice a little capability for keeping it compact.

  • @dstarke3442

    Are you able to bench and squat in the rack without any interfering with the lat pull down and the weights attached to the posts ?

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I can bench and squat inside the rack. However, admittedly not as easily as I'd like. The issue is not with the lat pulldown machine or plate storage. It is with the additional cable tower I mounted to the rear post. That interferes with racking the barbell and loading plates onto the bar. If so relocated that elsewhere there would be no problem. Hope that helps!

    So the lat pulldown and the cable machine are attachments to that cage?

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes exactly. Ultimately that's one of the reasons why I went with Titan because I could add these cable machines to my setup and get a lot of versatility out of them.

    This video is very helpful. I have an x-3 rack coming in and I’m looking at the lay pull down for the rack attachment and the 3 piece pulley system. The only problem i may have with the lat pull down is that i also bought the rack extension kit and it may hit the back pull-up bar. I’ll have to do more research

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad the video was helpful! Yeah you might have to look into it some more. My T3 rack came with two pull up bars (one for the front and the other for the back). However, the lat pulldown comes with it's own cross member you have to use on the back side so I can't use both pull up bars. I suspect it would be the same for you. Anyway good luck!!

    Is the V3 tower mounted to the wall?

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this video, it's mounted to my rack. Check out this other video: th-cam.com/video/6vyjUAdxcrc/w-d-xo.html
      In that one, I've mounted it to the wall.

    Could you put the cable tower on the front of the rack and still have room for lever arms?

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Potentially you could, but I think you will probably run into the issue of not having sufficient clearance to load weight plates on the lever arms. That's the issue I have if I try to load my barbell on the inside of the rack. Hope that helps!

    How come you cannot really do lat pull downs on the cable tower?

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can, but the angle is a bit more awkward than a lat pulldown tower because you can get directly underneath it. You have to get really close to the tower and do them at an angle. I'm not saying you can't do them but the angle is a bit awkward. Hope that helps!👍

    Should I sell my valor lat pull downachine to get this? Do you think this is more versatile than a lat pull down machine?

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a subjective question I think. However, I don't think the cable tower is a one-for-one replacement. You can't do lat pulldown as naturally on the cable tower. Most other movements you can do on the cable tower whereas there's not as easy on the lat pulldown machine. It depends on your preferences. I like having both the lat pulldown and the cable tower myself. Hope that helps!👍

    Off topic, how did you do your mirrors????

    • @DiscoveringStrength
      @DiscoveringStrength  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know I'm working on a video on that topic actually. I didn't video the process which I wish I had done, but essentially I just glued the mirrors on the wall. The tricky parts were getting them straight and holding them in place long enough for the glue to set.
