kinda, the way the crown works is that if Wukong was being a jackass to the great monk and he spoke a certain word or he got to far away from the monk, the crown would begin to tighten on Wukong's head, if it wasn't released it could in theory crush even Wukongs skull. Not a fun punishment but it was the one he was saddled with, however he had to put it on willingly, so he was tricked into wearing it.
If Azure Lion is MK's uncle then so is DBK, right? Hell, that would make Macaque his uncle... MK has a lot of sworn uncles, even if Wukong isn't his dad

He sees the root of the problem but has the wrong solution, The Jade Emperor is bad but so would any other ruler so why would Azure Lion be any different? The issue isn't "bad kings lead to bad times" its that "kings are a bad idea to begin with" infact one could argue that putting anybody in any sort of authority above anyone is a bad idea especially if it is unearned power. I think a doctor has the authority on what is to be done (within the context of their field, which is medicine) because they have studied their entire life in that field and should be taken seriously so it isn't coercive power, but a king, a governor, a vanguard leader, a CEO, a dictator, a tyrannty, a supreme leader deciding how people should live their lives who should get their share of the resources is the fuckin' issue. In real life it makes no sense because there is plenty of land and resources to go around, especially if we actually cared and looked after another, but our current system incentivizes individuality through artificial scarcity. Azure Lion was going somewhere but he foolishly thinks he can lead better, when the celestial court in it's entirety must be disbanded and the collective will of the people should govern itself with no gods or masters.

When he took over it was immediately too much for him showing he was never ready for it, 22:22 even the Jade Emperor didn't deny him he just asked if he was sure if this is what he wanted or if someone was playing him. The only cruel thing here is that his brothers never helped him second guess this whole endeavor and Golden Tusk was the real reason for his demise. Azure needed his on MK.
Eh yes and no. Yeah the Jade Emperor doesn't help the world directly. Intervening in wars or helping to deal with issues the people face. Buuuuuttt... when your job is literally maintaining the balance of all of time, space, dimension, etc, you can't really afford to stop and help with everything. Especially if no one else can do the job. So technically he's kinda helping. Indirectly.
You know I don't think azure Lion knows what the Buddha did to sun wukong the last time he stepped to the heavens It's not even the Jade emperor he should be worried about He should be worried about pissing off the Buddha because once the Buddha decides to intervene that's when you know something bad happened
this. This is how you write an antagonist that’s actually consistent. Azure never takes his eyes off his motivation, his ideals. Even after obtaining divine power, he stays consistent and doesn’t suddenly become irredeemable for the sake of a dramatic finale. More of this please

my guess? is that they had right ideas but they take it to the worst extremes. it’s a “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” thing. Lady Bone Demon wanted to get rid of everything bad in the world, all the corruption, but her way of doing it was flawed in that she understood her prized method had to be to kill EVERYTHING, good and bad together. She wasn’t gonna spare anyone and her methods were cruel, so she went too far. Azure Lion wanted to make the world a better place as well, and he desired to make a paradise for all, for there to be no suffering or strife. Unfortunately, reality isn’t so idealistic. His methods were sacrificing surrounding life for a paradise, hence why Wukong was sent to take down Camel Ridge. It wasn’t a paradise, it was a parasite. Azure’s reckless naivety on the nature of the world then turned him to realize, far too soon, the consequences of his actions. The world wasn’t as black and white as he wanted it to be, and in his fight to create something more, and better, he became the very force of destruction he was hoping he wouldn’t be. The worst part is, he knew this, and refused to face it until the consequences were tearing him apart, and breaking his world around him.
OK.. MAYBE I need to rewatch some episode but why is Macaque not in ANY of these flashbacks?! They've already shown he was there with them, but No One mentions him! Not DBK or Azure Lion, I know Peng didn't like him but did they just ignore him or what?? Did they know what Wukong did to him?

Because thats from the original and Macaque was in the underworld where LBD got him.. so somehow he died.. but if you look at the flashbacks, it looked like he was chained by something and Wukong hit him.. maybe he was trying to seal him but something went wrong?? I think this is because Macaque isn't a reliable narrator,just like Azure Lion Demon.His stories might have some truth in it that matches with others' versions,but it's twisted.All we know about him is all from his words and a few sneak peeks.Until someone else say something about him (especially Wukong),we can't be too sure. In my opinion though,he could be chained as torture in the underworld.And it would be interesting to make him actually be true to the og novel lore,to make it full circle on the 'Wukong wasnt always a hero' thing.
