People just don't understand how much Almost Live and The 206 were part and parcel to the NW Renaissance of 90s. They were a freaking treasure and a satirical document of the era. And that Space Needle prank is STILL funny....
Watched this from Vancouver every Saturday night. As a frequent visitor to Seattle I felt like I was in a secret society that talked about Kent hair regulations, knew Pike from Pine, and high-fived white guys. Lightning in a bottle, some shows were often funnier than SNL that followed them.
You are NOT WRONG about that!! A.L., at the time, was tighter and funnier than SNL... I almost always howled watching Almost Live, while that Saturday night show would often be a disappointing waste of an evening.
My favorite sketch from "Almost Live" was the character Sister Windy. It was a lampoon from the PBS series of the nun Sister Wendy who would explain different kinds of artwork and history. Sister Windy would make fun of Seattle architecture such as the downtown building with a big dome on top. Those sketches were hilarious. They need to put this show on DVD or Blu-Ray because they are still funny.
OMG - My life just flashed before my eye BTW - at 78, I'm blind in one eye while the other one is just for looks. Thank you Almost Live, from the guy who still lives in the basement of the Space Needle... Mo Hi
I am still looking for the clip of Peter Jennings blowing a snot rocket all over his leather coat, that the Almost Live crew used for taping audience laughter. Funniest thing I have ever seen, and I cannot find it anywhere on the internet.
When it comes to Millennials who grew up on Science Guy, I have fun breaking their brains showing off clips of Speed Walker and Street Walking Lawyers of Aurora Ave.
King 5 refusing to release a dvd box set is clearly the primary catalyst for the deep decline of Seattle. (Not even via a streaming service.) Why does King 5 hate the people of Seattle so much?
Like other commenters I enjoyed it more than SNL. I think one difference was the runtime, with AL being 30m and SNL being 90m (minus commercials for both of course). Even if you factor out SNL's musical numbers, that meant that you had to go with your best material, and there was no padding out a clip. This gave the show more energy than SNL had.
I loved that Pat Cashman was the background voice for Bill Nye for many seasons of his show. When ever my brother in law (Bill) is doing something silly, I am saying maybe out loud, “uh, Bill?”
Lame. 😏 What’s weak this week/The lame list, should have been mentioned. I don’t know why I loved that bit so much, but I did. I loved this show, in general. It was most often funnier and better than Saturday Night Live. Great show….
Pat Cashman was Seattle's Phil Hartman.
Pat's still with us.

Freakin love this show. "We are the [i forgot] of Factoria!"
I lived in Seattle for 5 years. At the time, this was always funnier than SNL.

@@zedcaster high fivin' white guys!!!! I totally forgot about them, thanks!
I watched its run on Comedy Central. Great stuff!
@KING5 you know all the cast would agree to come back
At its peak, I laughed more in a 30 minute episode of Almost Live than I did in a 90 minute episode of Saturday Night Live.
I always thought of SNL as a lame version of Almost Live.
Absolutely.
100%

Portlandia got 8 seasons and I’d say modern-day Seattle is more worthy of parody than ever. Can we bring it back, somehow?
I’m so happy to see this! Love and miss this fantastic show!

We love the Science Guy's hack for "dicing" onions.
One of my favorite bits was the changing of the area codes and prefixes throughout the state. Pat Cashman at his finest!
And Tracy's snooty East Side woman getting upset about Renton being in 425 rather than down in 253 with Kent!
This is great, I watched this show and thought it was cool, loved all the local humor. I find Speed Walker especially funny.
OMG - My life just flashed before my eye

Remember the little kid in Sluggy. One of Pat`s Best.
COME BACK, SLUGGY!!!!!!!!
When it comes to Millennials who grew up on Science Guy, I have fun breaking their brains showing off clips of Speed Walker and Street Walking Lawyers of Aurora Ave.
Bring this back
I loved this show!!
Ballard Vice with Rosco(Ross Shafer) and Johnny(John Keister). Ross Shafer uploaded the Ballard Vice sketches on his TH-cam channel.
Miss that show. Never should have ended.
KING-TV was making budget cuts in 1999. I'm actually surprised Evening Magazine is still going. Local shows are surprisingly expensive to produce.
King 5 refusing to release a dvd box set is clearly the primary catalyst for the deep decline of Seattle. (Not even via a streaming service.)

Always one of the highlights of my week.
I wish you could get all the episodes on DVD

Too short! No nod to Simile School? The Lame List? Studs of Microsoft?
Inexcusably lame!
@@zedcaster Rotting in a stinking pile of lameness!
Exceedingly lame!!
(starts headbanging) Lame! Lame! Lame! Lame! Lame! Lame! Lame! Lame!
We need local stuff like this again.
So many memories of this show. But of course, we all waited for The Lame List!!
I'm met John Keister!
Lame. 😏

Because grunge got so famous around the country, and these were just wastoid bands we grew up with, we liked to see it taken down a little.
KING5 shuttered Almost Live! KING5 could bring it back. Just saying'.
Cringe
Yeah, but you're not a nostalgic sick Gen-Xer. I still do heroin every once in a while just to remind me of the good times. 😁
