"I shall not want" The sheep NEVER need to fear or worry because their shepherd gives them EVERYTHING they need! Thank You, Jesus for being our Shepherd!!! ♥️🙌♥️
One thing I thought about with "I shall not want" is simply being CONTENT in God. Not just being content with God, but IN God. Because if we are content IN God, then everything else just falls into place.
Faith, I am new to Christianity. I can't express enough how much this has blessed me. Please continue to shares more Bible study tips like this. God bless you!
I'm 54, I've been a Christian for 44 years and I love your videos. I am mapping Revelation after watching your video on Bible Mapping. I say each New Year, " I'm going to study the Bible more this year. " This year, I'm saying, "I'm will study the Bible better!" I've wanted to learn the things you share through your videos for years! Please keep sharing!
This was an amazing study! I really loved it. I decided to go a little deeper on verse 4 "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death," I read a commentary and I really liked what they said about this sections. "One can rightly say we face "the shadow of death" because Jesus took the FULL REALITY of death in our place." Isn't that so cool!? Just thought I should add that. Thanks for this amazing study. :)
When I was about 15 years old, I wrote a song and one of the lines was "the Lord is my shepherd, it says in Psalm 23. All I do is say that and the devil will let me be." Thank you for reminding me of that. Now it's written in my Bible to remember forever.
Thank you Faith for all of the wonderful insights! This psalm has been on my heart for a while now and then your video popped up. God knew I was needing some more time with it! A few years ago I was told that when it says 'Surely goodness and mercy will follow me' the word in Hebrew for 'follow' could also have been translated as 'pursue' or 'chase'. It reminds me that no matter where I go, even if I am running away, God's goodness and mercy are actively pursuing me all the days of my life.
I never thought about the part of “walk through the valley of the shadow of death “ to a relationship of emotional struggle yet when you said it i thought of a time God helped me when I was really struggling I enjoyed journaling with you :)
Loved this journalling of Psalm 23. I have a note in my bible about "anoints my head with oil". Sheep can get their head caught in briers and die trying to get untangled. There are horrid little flies that like to torment sheep by laying eggs in their nostrils which turn into worms and drive the sheep to beat their head against a rock, sometimes to death. Their ears and eyes are also susceptible to tormenting insects. So the shepherd anoints their whole head with olive oil. Then there is peace. That oil forms a barrier of protection against the evil that tries to destroy the sheep. That can be applied to our mental torment. Dr. Jeremiah said the oil would also be used on the shepherd to relieve the hurt of a cut or bruise.
The Lord is my shepherd... Usually farm animals are brought and/or born into the farm. We were brought with His precious blood, and we're born (again) so HE is our shepherd. I think about it that way, and it moves me. GB mightily.
You have probably heard this, but I recently read that a common reason a shepherd would anoint their sheep with oil was to protect them from the flies and other insects that sometimes get in their face and become a nuisance. The oil repels the insects and helps sooth the sheep so they can become peaceful again.
Wow, next time the topic comes up, I'm definitely going to remember that connection between David and the other shepherds watching their sheep on those same hills outside of Bethlehem.
Your videos and learning to Bible study (not just trying to read) has really helped me grow to wanting to know more and more about the word! It’s like once I start I don’t want to stop! Thank you!

Yes it was. I am thinking about buying a bible journal But I really like NASB. I guess I could get the NIVkingjames version. I love that version I just have so many bibles. I need to unload some of them to others but don’t know what to do with them

Thank you so much for this video. What a great idea to write the opposite of what it means...I fall into those “depths of despair” moments sometimes. Psalm 23 will inspire me to put my Faith in him.
Yes! Me too! Yesterday I was SOOOO devastated over something that doesn’t even matter today- I get so overwhelmed with things sometimes and I wish I would just stop and preach psalm 23 to myself! So, just know you’re not the only one! I make videos on it and the next day still forget it! 🤪🤦🏼♀️
It’s February 2021. I am older but have been interested in Bible journaling. I have watched many videos they are so creative and the art reflective of the scripture. Then I began watching your videos and am feeling so blessed and uplifted. You have such a gift presenting God’s Word in a way that moves the emotion I feel and gives me the words I search for to be able to communicate the feeling to others. No one has ever communicated “I shall not want” the knowledge I’ve always had that I feel when I hear those words. I feel comforted that through my faith and trust God will always take care of me. I’m rambling but I’m just so enjoying your studies. Thanking God for the blessing of finding you. ❤️
Love this video! Thank you for showing how to study inductively ❤. Praying about doing this with either ladies in prison or ladies in the area in need of the Word who are not believers and are in difficult situations ❤❤. I really enjoyed this!!
I recently found your channel and I am so thankful for your ministry. I've recently started Bible journaling and it's making such a huge impact in my walk with the Lord. Our family lives overseas in a very Catholic/judgmental/unkind to outsiders country and my faith has really struggled lately. It's been so hard to find genuine Christian community.. I loved walking through Psalm 23 with you this morning...and I continued on for another hour after your video. I loved seeing that it was written as a poem that spoke about God in vs. 1-4, spoken to God in vs 4-5 (in the valley) and about God again in vs 6...I'm encouraged to remember that He cares for/shepherds/restores and redeems me. Thank you so much Faith!
This has always been my least favorite passage in the Bible. I think because it always reminds me of death, everyone always uses it at funerals. You are the first person to really explain this Psalm and now I look at it completely differently. It's not about death at all it's about how the Lord helps us through our struggles. How he brings us rest, safety, and calm. I will forever replace the word death with the word struggles and by doing just that simple small thing the passage has become a wonderful refuge. Thank you so much for that. Your love for the Word of God is infectious.
I loved the opposite of Psalm 23 you added! A great reminder for me to not think those things! What stood out to me reading this today was vs 6 when he says, "Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life." This is something I need to think about as I go about my day and everything I worry about kicks into high gear in my head. Another great video, Faith! 💖 Are things looking good for next semester? Still praying for you! 🙏

Thank You for your time and for sharing your study structure. I like the way you broke down PSALMS 23. This is a great study! I have not thought about Psalm 23 in a long time. And your message is right on time, my family is in a valley right now. My husbands dad passed away the week before Christmas and its taking a toll on our whole family. I have been praying through it for all of us. It has been really rough.
Oh no! Chanda! I am so sorry. I cannot imagine the pain and sadness you guys must be going through... especially with 2020 being such a rough year and then right before Christmas! Why God? Praying for you and your family RIGHT NOW. Sending a hug, too!

I like it when scripture smacks my heart and tells me to wake up and realize what he has done for me. Because without our Lord, I would be nothing and have nothing.

Woww..I really love all your videos. Unfortunately I have not read the bible enough, but I just started and your videos are very helpful and you just made me fall in love with psalm 23, I can't imagine what else I'm going to find as I read the bible I can't wait🙌🙌🙌 thank you so much for being so true and genuine, I really appreciate that part too.
This was my first actual study I did along side you..it is amazing how much more meaning the scripture has when you study it like this! Thank you for this!!
It is an interesting study to do about where the "Valley of the Shadow of Death" actually is, as a location, and how it relates to this part of Psalm 23.
It had never occurred to me before that David and the shepherds the angle's proclaimed the birth of Jesus to were probably on the same hillside. It's so logical, but so easily overlooked. I'm currently trying to work out ways to do Bible study on my digital journal. Im not confident enough to actually call it Bible Journaling. But I'm going to try to do the kinds of thing Electronicly. I draw and write all over my Bible too. This is just a new challenge.
One things I like to do when studying is to consider the meaning of colors. GREEN is life, new beginnings, healing, immortality, etc. To get GREEN you must combine YELLOW +BLUE. YELLOW is faith. BLUE is the Word. So to get those GREEN pastures to lie down in, you must have faith +.the Word.
I’m so glad! What exactly was helpful? Everyone keeps saying that and I’m wondering how I can be more helpful in future videos! I knew I could ask you because you know the struggles of youtubers lol!
@@HowtoFaithALife to actually see you walk through the text, asking questions and keeping it in context. My process is similar. I use a notebook so seeing your process is encouraging for me.
I enjoyed this very much. Glad I found your channel. I will continue to watch and learn. Thank you for your efforts in making your videos:) I do find it hard to write on my bible pages . ;) I will watch this again and re-read Psalm 23. :)
I've always liked the visual of "preparing a table before me in the presence of my enemies". Would sheep be able to eat when wolves are present? Wouldn't they scatter, bleating and trampling each other? Obviously they don't eat at a table, so is my Shepherd telling me to calm down? That not only can my enemies not harm me, they have to stand in frustration and watch me savoring my picnic meal without a care in the world.
Is there a quick guide to Bible marking? I get overwhelmed by trying to organize Bible markings (and I rarely do guided Bible studies that include marking) that I just don't but I think it would be valuable. So having some of those choices already made in my independent study would really help.
Another great video. I absolutely love these kind of videos. My Bible is growing with more notes. And I have shared your channel with my mom. Tfs sweetie
Thank you for your take on Psalm 23. I have not read it, but it’s on my wishlist- A Shepherd Looks At Psalm 23 by W.Phillip Keller. I heard from a friend that it’s a great book.
I have been using Max Lucado's Traveling Light and studying Psalm 23 for over a month now. It has been life changing. Did you know the phrase in vs. 6 "follow me" actually means "to chase after or pursue". This hit so deep for me because it's not a slow meandering behind you as you go, but an ACTIVE PURSUIT TO STAY NEAR YOU! It revived my prayers for those in my life who are lost, as well as reminding me that God is never ever far, I just have to accept that he is present.
Thanks for this video! I recently started journaling in my Bible and began with Psalms 23. I wasn’t sure exactly what to write at first but I love how you go through the scripture and break it down bit by bit so that really helped :D ! I ended up taking many notes from your video aha so Thanku again!! I was wondering though, is it ok to take notes in my Bible on what others get from the scripture or should it be just my own thoughts and understanding?.. i was thinking of doing a combination of the 2 where some notes are my thoughts and other notes might be notes from say your video that I found interesting or helpful.
Just a thought or question…. Didn’t the shepherds anoint the sheep’s head to prevent pesky flys from bothering the sheep? The same way the Holy Spirit helps to keep the pesky thoughts of guilt or self pity…. from bothering us?
I bought the Life Application Study Bible by Tyndall and just discovered it has a different version. Example “The Lord is my Shepherd, I have all that I need” or He lets me rest in green meadows, he leads me beside peaceful streams”. I needed a study Bible and now I’m not so sure this is the right one. As I have always read Psalm 23 as your Bible states. Confused. Thanks for your guidance and you’re a great teacher.

I am SO GLAD! Praise the Lord!
Thank you so much for this video
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching! :)
I know you made this a year ago but I really needed it today so thank you for making this.
Glad I could help!
So so so good!!!
Yes I love it! Thank you
You are so welcome!
It is an interesting study to do about where the "Valley of the Shadow of Death" actually is, as a location, and how it relates to this part of Psalm 23.
OOOOOOOH now I want to go check that out! Thanks for sharing!
I have heard it before in a sermon by Pastor Jeremy Pearsons
I loved the study! Thank you
Really helps a beginner like myself.
I have been messing around with that and haven't figured out anything I like, quite yet! Keep me posted on your digital journey!
Wow! I learn so much from watching you ! Thank you !!
I'm so glad! That's all God! Praise the Lord!
Loved seeing how you did this! xoxo
I’m so glad!
This was so good to see how you study the scripture.
@@HelpMamaRemote oh good! Praise the Lord! That’s helpful!
I enjoyed this very much. Glad I found your channel. I will continue to watch and learn. Thank you for your efforts in making your videos:) I do find it hard to write on my bible pages . ;) I will watch this again and re-read Psalm 23. :)
Thanks for watching! Welcome to the family!
Amen amen.. great video
I am so glad! Praise the Lord!
Beautiful! Thank you! You are helping me so much with my Bible study.
Happy to help! :) Thanks for watching!
I am laying bed but tomorrow I will going over this chapter again
I appreciate this so much!
I am so glad I could be a help!
Another great video. I absolutely love these kind of videos. My Bible is growing with more notes. And I have shared your channel with my mom. Tfs sweetie
Thanks for sharing!! I am so glad this is blessing you!
Thank you for your take on Psalm 23. I have not read it, but it’s on my wishlist- A Shepherd Looks At Psalm 23 by W.Phillip Keller. I heard from a friend that it’s a great book.
Sounds great! I’ll have to check it out
@@HowtoFaithALife It's a great book.
Enjoyed this
Enjoying the last few hours of 2020 it's currently 1:15am
It’s 4am here! Just got up to edit fridays video! Lol
Love it
I have been using Max Lucado's Traveling Light and studying Psalm 23 for over a month now.
Thank you
I struggle with depression to.
Did you know that they used to anoint sheep heads with oil to protect it from flies, when I found that out I was amazed
Yes! Totally! Just add whatever helps you! Sometimes I write quotes from books or sermons directly next to a passage or on the front page of my bible!
Another stellar message! God bless you, my sweet sister! 🙏🏼♥️
PS...I have the interleaved bible, too. Isn’t it just the best?
Yes it is! I am so glad this video was a benefit to you, praise the Lord!
Just a thought or question…. Didn’t the shepherds anoint the sheep’s head to prevent pesky flys from bothering the sheep? The same way the Holy Spirit helps to keep the pesky thoughts of guilt or self pity…. from bothering us?
Do u have a tutorial on inductive bible study? A video where u are doing ...writing the study ?
Yes! A whole playlist! You can find it here: th-cam.com/play/PLeMpDclT-2HsGfOG_sTaQma1Z4DmK-9O3.html
Praise the Lord, and thanks for sharing!
Have you read A Shepherd Looks at the 23rd Psalm by W. Phillip Keller?
Great video!!! Where do you get your pen pouch from?
Someone gave me it, it’s a Vera Bradley pouch... not sure the name of the pattern!
