    Install some LED strips behind all of the layers. You could even vary the colors for different effects. Just an idea.

    • @BenjisAdventures
      @BenjisAdventures หลายเดือนก่อน +47

      This wouldn’t really work as well as it sounds unfortunately, but it would look slightly better indeed

    • @Spasticlemur
      @Spasticlemur หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      @@BenjisAdventures I guess what I meant was install LED strips behind the final layer that goes next to the wall, so you have light from one source radiating through all layers. I think my first comment sounded like putting LED strips behind each individual layer, which was not at all what I meant. Heh

    I been working with this before… you need to shut the light from the sides, and have a light source from the back, or top/bottom can also work.. also when handling the plates use gloves and use a cleaning spray to remove the static, otherwise they attract dust particles… it’s truly difficult to work with but it can be awesome ! Thumbs up for a first attempt 👍

    • @schultzdivision6749
      @schultzdivision6749 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Oh and forgot… you can laminate the plate after printing with a semigloss or matte laminate to reduce the glare.. hope it helps

    • @Teh_Yeet
      @Teh_Yeet หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@schultzdivision6749 I bet if you glue them together using epoxy, the glass layers wouldn't reflect each object in the layers anymore and also remove the blue tint the glass creates.. They would seem like one thick piece of glass, but still keeping the objects apart... You could test if that's true by putting some water on a pane of glass and placing another layer over top to see if that becomes crystal clear.

  • @masterjunko

    I appreciate you bisiting both the positives and negatives in doing this piece. Even though you didn't foresee the glare, experimentation is such a great learning process and I honestly really hope to see more work like this in the future!

    Hey Benny,
    I work for an environmental branding company and create designs similar to what you were working on. Typically, we use standoff systems that include caps and barrels. You can sandwich the acrylic between each barrel, and the final piece of acrylic along with the barrels would be mounted onto a base, such as wood or celtec. Then, it would be mounted on the wall using z-clips or studs because of its weight. Additionally, there are non-reflective acrylic options available that could solve your issue with reflections.

    I actually tried this a good few years back now but with differences, let me explain. I used to make 3D Decoupage images which is basically taking 6 to 8 images which are the same, then working from background to foreground you cut elements out of the numerous images you have then layer then up using silicone to give the space between the layers and also to stick them in place. I used to make these a lot and sell them around local art and craft shops. YEARS later I thought what about if I do the same thing to my digital artworks. It seemed like a great idea and a way of modernising an old craft skill and bringing a new idea to digital art. The problem I has was, I was printing my own artwork onto papers and very thin card and then having to cut out all the elements like I used to to with a scalpel blade, and this was when I realised that only certain types of art, work with the Decoupage style and cutting out with a blade. If you for example try to cut a photograph with a blade you get a very unrealistic edge on all your elements and it just looks crap. What you have done is a great idea by printing all the layers. The issue I had was when I tried this originally I was using VERY basic graphic software called i-Photo Plus and it didn't use layers as such. Your idea with this has got me thinking again...Oh yeah, I forgot to say I'm 55 years of age now and I was around 20 years of age when I tried all the above. Mike UK

    make it into a shadow-box to deal with the light, it'll only be visible at night, or in the dark, but still.
    -Enclose it fully with an extra slot in front.
    -add an outermost pane that has 1-way mirror film/coating on it.
    -Add lighting inside along the edges of each pane (wrap each in LED wire and shiny aluminium tape OR mount lights in each groove, at *least* on 2 opposing edges)
    now, when off, it's a mirror and when on it's a 3d image box!

    This artwork is epic, please more like this! The whole idea about making 2D into 3D is great! But the best thing - this is the good old benny we missed :) glad to see, that you got your passion and love for the whole thing back! this video is so much more "benny" then the videos from 2023. The reason why i subscribed (and buyed your stuff for supporting you) to your channel years ago was, that you had this unique combination of quality and dumb jokes (or better said - you didn't take it too serious). i learned and loughed so much from your videos.

    You could add some side piece and paint them with vantablack, also the backpiece.
    Swap out the top piece and build in some led stripes with changable colors.
    That would/should/could solve all your problems :D

  • @Doyle69
    @Doyle69 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Seen few comments on LEDS behind. I have done this before and what worked amazing is:
    On the planet layer, if you router the top wood above it or below at bottom hidden and inlay some LEDS it'll light up only that one piece, it will illuminate softly all front ones, it'll also help make the planet look like its glowing.
    Imagine them illuminated perspex laser engraved signs :), this method makes the whole sheet lightup without it been too bright.
    EDIT: Another issue that causes a lot of glare is the sides of your perspex is exposed, this causes a lot of glare, you could cover them in an enclosure like top, or mask front and back and apply a nice coat of black paint.
