You guys never saw Azula during book 1, so you can't say that she's "pissing you off" here, stop comparing her to the cartoon, where she was voiced by a 30 year old woman, and where you have no limits in terms of facial expressions.
Reported thats netflix avatar Each episode cost 20 million dollars $ Its considered the most expensive show on netflix It was a succes with 20 million views on the weekend Just like that other anime live action Avatar will most likely get a season 2 meaning we will see toph. And zuko on the run
The poor young ladies playing Mai and Azula have been relentlessly persecuted online for having chubby faces. They're not even big girls, they just have plump cheeks. Someone said they're "supposed to be baddies" but they're supposed to be CHILDREN. It really hurts me to read all the disgusting comments about them. There's even already one from someone on this very video. Anyway, sorry for the rant, thanks for the videos as always!
I never knew ATLA could have this toxic fandom.... Its really disgusts me how AWFUL comments there actors get. Mai, Ty-Lee & Azula are like 14-15 in the show. __CHILDREN__ In my opinion they are doing good job, if you've seen the show you automaticly recognize who they are & give the vibes they give from the show. Can't wait season two where they truly can shine.
Azula was perfectly casted like you said they're children sorry if she doesn't have a perfectly drawn bone structure I was worried about her too at first but after seeing that wicked smile that look in her eyes and hearing her dialogue that's Azula ladies and gentlemen
And people don't get it they had to be like that to look young, mai and Azula most likely gonna be more slim on next season to make time jump more realistic
Agreed Pudgey Azula is perfect people have to understand this is what a real 14 year old girl looks and sounds like they don't look 18 with the voice of a 20 or 30 year old and I don't get the complaints about her being too chunky
and the fact is she's slender! she just has plump cheeks. i've never seen 2 actresses body shamed more relentlessly than azula and mai have been the past week.
@@lordfoul6259 nobody had the hots for Azula or Mai or Katara or Toph. They were kids, we were kids, we dont think about those kinds of things when were all kids. Why is this the go to attack/defence? I've seen these kinds of comments about Xmen97 as well. Also when female fans fantasize or crush about male anime characters its deemed cute, but when male fans do it they're deemed creeps.
I made an argument in my head that from the way she was acting, she was restless from being away from the action. Which would explain why she's a bit whiny and gained some weight 🤷
This one was the first to hit me big with combining so much form other stories. I am not against it, up til now they did well in combining stuff. Once again the choreography from bending and fighting, plus the views of the destinations have been absolutely stunning. Top tier. My favorite part was the fight scene between Zuko and Aang. I dont know how much was real or the actual actors, but hot damn was it so well made! Made me feel like its straight from the show!
Some will make jokes when u guys get things wrong but I appreciate it. It’s a sign of a genuine thought process and that’s the way to do what you guys do. Keep it up, enjoy your content 100%!!!
I'm so happy that you guys are approaching this adaptation for what it is: an adaptation. Your positive attitude and accepting the changes for what they were. I have only finished through Book 1 of the Animated series and you guys are the only reactors I watched in preparation for this show. Thanks again for the great reaction! ❤
Not entirely convinced yet about the way they're trying to connect multiple plotlines but I do love how they're developing separate journeys for each character, it gives room for more character moments and more satisfying character interactions later on
I hope they give those firebenders in the beginning some sort of justice. I felt so bad for them. And that boy, who convinced everyone. : ( I can see what they're doing though, they're fixing an issue ATLA had. In ATLA the fire nation has been killing and doing genocide for 100 years, and yet at the end it's all, "Let's hold hands, we're all fine now". Nope, that would never ever happen irl. The other nations would be too mad and want justice, and the fire nation itself has spent generations dehumanizing the other ones that they would also not be cool with it. However this added a new element, even some of the fire nation citizens are trying to rebel or get rid of the fire lord. This is one of the good changes the show did. Now the end of ATLA is more realistic because even the fire nation itself was suffering, people were losing their family members as the firelord & military generals just sacrificed regular citizens for whatever tactic they wanted, and there's a growing sense of overthrowing the royals.
Despite what everyone says about the show especially with the next episodes it does really well in making what we love come to life, the, castings are perfect and the visuals are epic
I really couldn’t get behind what they did with Bumi. You’ve already seen it cause you’re ahead on Patreon so I’m okay saying this here. He was insufferable but was so goofy and fun in the animation
Couldn't agree more. I can understand some elements will be different from the original as this is an adaptation, but I could not get behind the character changes for King Bumi. That was really stupid in my opinion.
Good on ya guys. Love your reactions. I’ve seen a few reactions to this show where I think people have not been liking the show because it was different from the animated version, whether it’s the story, the looks of the actors, the changes in order, etc. good to see you guys are giving it a chance. I’m a fan of ATLA and LoK and I also love this live action adaptation. It’s just too bad there are loud voices putting down. I just hope we get to see more seasons and get more Avatar fans from this. I know my wife refused to watch the animated version but really liking this live action one.
I think the casting is great, and anyone who says anyone is ever too chubby or even the opposite, is just being rude. They’re kids, they still have baby fat, this is what they’re supposed to look like, not the 20 year olds they look like in the animated show. Which is my favorite show ever btw, I love it, but the casting is fine, quit being rude.
Azula's actress is just perfect 😍, she IS Azula and she embodies her so well. For a beginner actress (pretty sure this is her first gig) she's doing incredible with all of her face expressions, no wonder they picked her
Something to watch out for in the next few episodes. We will see azula firebend. Watch it closely. I feel like season 1 is building up to the Azula we know in season 2.
Yes I agree with you Spartan! Episode 1 I was skeptical, episode 2 started to really turn things around for me and help me accept this won't be identical to the anime but will be a gem of it's own with throwing in some surprises that we didn't get to see in the anime. By this episode 3 I do like the series and think it's doing a good job. The special effects and sets are stunning, the world building they got down perfectly. The cast is definitely growing on me. I still struggle with the actress who plays Katara a bit but I'm sure she'll develop overtime. Overall, excited to see where this series goes with changing things up a bit but sticking true enough to the original and keeping fans happy with maintaining key storylines like Jet and even the cabbage patch guy.
I do have few gripes with the series but overall its pretty good. Katara isn't the katara of the show who has more depth and is more livelier. Live action is a bit flat and only has one quality, always talking about her mum. She also kinda becomes a master out of nowhere. Appa is used too sparingly it makes me sad Aang doesn't Waterbend once in the water season 😂 and lessening Roku's role in s1.
Spartan I see you are watching halo. Are you enjoying it?? Season two is absolutely amazing. 1 was good but had to find it's footing more but season 2 is absolutely perfect and that's from a die hard halo fan.
Wish they went harder on Game of Thrones-ifying the way the stories are told, though. Like make the world feel living and breathing instead of having them go from place A to place B to place C and so on. In GoT, characters would be minding their business in one side of the world, and another set of characters would be in another side. It helped make the world feel big.
Azula is my favorite character from ATLAB. I know she's a villain, but I love her strong and independent she is. She is also really powerful. And she's smart. That's what I love about her
Azula looks nothing like the character, at all. But this is what people mean when they say acting is what really matters, because her acting, the way her eyes look, mannerisms, and so on is SO good that I don't even care. She has this really offsetting cute baby face, but eyes of a psychopath and smile of a killer that's SO Azula that I'm surprised they're bullying her online for being "chubby". Sorry society is obsessed with angled narrow headshapes vs round... but they need to get over it. And this is all adults too, you shouldn't be shaming children about their bodies... -_- Act your age.
Wonder if you guys will feel the same after ep 4. I was super into it up until that point. It’s like they were committed in butchering one particular character and it threw me off
personally I love the change. It's way more realistic, but I'll still miss the original character and part of me is sad that we don't get that. However, with the end, maybe they're back to being how they were before the war, so maybe season 2 we'll get that personality more.
I personally felt episode 4 was better than episode 3. I feel they tried to fit to much in 3. But 4 had a lot more awesome moments in my opinion including that interaction with the soldier and Iroh.
The cabbage guy was played by the exact same guy here as he was in the cartoon. As someone who despises memes and meme culture with every fibre of his being, I think he should have been scrapped.
