Your dump trailer is sure getting a workout. Good looking ash logs the tree service dropped off. We sure have been having free wood coming from every direction lately. Love the free stuff!! 👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Love seeing you at the new place. You’re a lucky man to be able to do what you love to do. A little history. I cut wood for 8 years in my first marriage before I had a car accident and now I’m a T5 paraplegic in a wheelchair. I love cutting wood. My church several years back cut wood for folks who couldn’t afford it. I cut a lot of firewood from my wheelchair. The ministry sadly has stopped due to getting enough people to help. If I lived close to you I’d help you out all the time. Time for breakfast. Remember. You can do all things through God.
Ash like what they brought you in that last load is what firewood dreams are made of....at least mine anyway.😁If all the ash logs I pulled out of the bush were like that I would be a very happy guy! Dave
Hey Chris great video as always. I hope you are buying those tree service guy's a bottle of scotch or a box of beers for Christmas that is epic free firewood well worth a shout😆 great to see things coming together as you move forward. Brilliant
I’ve seen stone skipping contests, jump rope contests, lumberjack competitions - if firewood chucking competitions take off, Purple Collar Life would like to sponsor you. You’re the best of the best. Maybe this could even be a new Olympic event. The question is, summer or winter event? 😅
Hi Chris. One of the Key terms in Business is Value Add. On that basis what I might do with the Cotton Wood into the future is to mix it in with the mixed hardwood and sell the cotton wood mixed at a rate of perhaps 10 % with the other hardwood. That way You are value adding on the cotton wood and it stops being considered a lower grade / value product. At a mix of around 10% I doubt any customer buying mixed hard wood would notice it. Why sell it cheaper, it cost You the same to produce it. I would not even separate it out into different cords. Just stack it in with the rest. Anyway just how I think. Regards. David in Oz.
You could save your back with a hydraulic jack on your trailer tongue. Hooking up more than once a day. Not sure I even should mention it. I need to stick to shelling pecans. Love the channel.
Cleansing out the old wood yard with 2 big dumps into the new woodyard. Nice ash trees they delivered. The tree service kust let me know they have a contract to take 50 ash trees out of a park, so when they start on that, i will be getting some of that.
Yep just waiting on the call when they start, so i have been bucking rounds lately cleaning up my unorganized log piles. Mine are from dump trailers. I never have enough time to stack the logs so i just work on a pile at a time.
Hi Chris, great video again, I like the part where you double check the hook-up on the trailer before you leave the yard. I did notice that you did not hookup the emergency pull away brakes for the trailer. Do you have them (pull away or emergency brakes) on the trailer?
Cottonwood and willow make good hearth boards for friction fires... What you do with the other 5cords from that 1tree (idk if that's much of an exaggerated #) idk... But with a real hard wood for a spindle it's probably the best we have setup we have here. A lot of work but let's see you try.
Maybe some day if I have nothing else to do I will make a friction fire like i did back in boy scouts...I have done it but much prefer a propane torch now!!
@@InTheWoodyard ya, flicking a bic is easier. I bought a fire pistol a long time ago. Unbelievable the first ones were made out of bamboo. But once you get it to work... It's the easiest friction fire there is
If you had 6x6 or 4x4 blocks to stick under your trailer jack it would save your arm and shoulder. Unless you need to good work out just about sure the 592 was enough. Great videos .
I have a method for hooking up trailers that I try to impose onto new guys. Always when hooking up, latch the ball right away. Then hook the chains and electrical. Because if you forgot the latch it’d potentially be bad, but lights and chains it’ll still go down down the road. When UNhooking, always undo the chains and electrical first then do the hitch and jack it up. If you go to pull away and they’re still hooked you’ll hurt the plug and look pretty silly getting jerked back by the chains. With all the distractions these days it never hurts to have some rhyme and reason to keep you from forgetting a crucial step.
What’s hanging up wood and the snow shovel on the back right side of the trailer??? Noticed several videos with three or four pieces of wood that needed a little bit of help at the end of the dump.
U should just sell all that cottonwood and your short cookies together by the trailer load to people with boilers so it disappears fast and so u don't have to retouch it ever again. But now u can load it with a skidsteer there in no time. It's not great firewood but people will still buy cords of it at once if u deliver it and keep it cheap. A metal detector could save you some chains and 22mb teeth with all those yard trees. Just have to watch more closely for staining when u run those thru
My neighbor rotates his trailer spare tire out every year. Also he covers the spare to abate the sun rotting the side walls. But I wonder if that's just important for travel trailers ? Or should dump trailer tires do that also? Job well done on a good video. Today
@In The Woodyard With that going on, do you have any restrictions on where you can transport it? I know here in MN there are quite a few quarantined counties.
