According to the National Golf Foundation, nearly 25 million people played golf on a golf course in the United States in 2020. Here is some additional demographic information about these 25 million people: 3 million are junior golfers. Almost 6 million playing are young people, the age group of 18-34 year olds. 70% are male. So based on this, GG's absolute maximum demographic would be about 6 million people. Of course many of the 6 million will not know anything about GG. The merch revenues will be driven by the diehard fans (aka the 1.17 million YT subs). Between the true die hards, the regular viewers who don't sub and the casual fans, I'm guessing their total reach is somewhere around 2-3 million. How many of these folks buy merch? $20 million in merch revenue would be more than 265,000 polos sold in a year. Is that reasonable or not? I'm not in the clothing business haha. Such an interesting topic. What are your thoughts?

    • @chrislw9053

I think the owners of good good are making money hand over fist, I think the members got their lump sum settlements when they originally sold, maybe they get yearly installments for whatever tiny percentage they still own. They sold to venture capitalists a while back, but surely there’s still some incentive whether that be Adsense or small ownership kickbacks at the end of the fiscal year I’m not sure. But there’s definitely still incentive somewhere otherwise they wouldn’t keep doing it. There’s Good Good Austin(merch) which is Kendrick and a few other people who own it, then there’s Good Good Kansas City(TH-cam) which are the original members of the TH-cam channel and maybe an editor or 2.

Of course good good makes a ton off their merchandise. They charge their viewers major brand prices for TH-cam channel clothes. Let's be honest, they won't be around 10 years from now, but Nike and other major brands will still be around. I wish they cared about their viewers and didn't overcharge them, but that's what happens when you know you'll only be relevant for a short time and need to take advantage of it while you can. Same with their putters, you can buy one of their putters for the same price as one from a company with millions of dollars of R&D behind it. I enjoy their channel, but I won't pay $80 for their Chinese made shirt or $300 for their bland looking putter without years of R&D behind them.
