I've always been partial to Otis elevators for some reason. Used to be in all the old buildings on the University campus my Mom went to. I played with all of them! lol
These elevators are FAMOUS! Pretty much anyone that comes to Atlanta films these elevators! These were also the VERY FIRST elevators ever filmed by dieselducy in the elevator community!
Awesome elevator video. I never rode in elevators that are more than 10 floors and the elevator takes off fast. I love your elevator videos. The last time I rode an atrium elevator it was at Embassy Suites in Chicago Illinois in 1996 for a vacation and I love Chicago.
This never happened to any elevators there should be overspeed governors. what those does it makes those thing roll if rolls fast it makes the elevator into an emergency stop. You can find the video how overspeed governors work.
A little faster than high level rack forklifts (i used to drive those). But they can move forwards/backwards while ascending/descending. Gives you more of a rollercoaster feeling ^^
Seems slow to me, come visit us in Toronto, want fast? Take the CN Towers glass floored elevators, one of the fasted on earth, hope you're not afraid of heights!
Well when i was in this hotel, The elevator was busy and people where jumping. We were stalling what was like the elevator stops and falls down and stops and falls.
I am surprized that they have atrium like that. What about people who are sick and would jump from that and kill their selves.Seems like the hotel would be liable or feel liable in some ways. Its beautifull the atrium is, but its scary to me knowing theres the edge 47 stories below kinda scary. But man i love the see through elevators thats a real rush!!!
Even more of a rush: That time that one kid during FBLA NLC threw five pounds in pennies from floor 47 and caused the entire building to get locked down.
When you looked out the window at point 3:17 you saw a blue dome. I will have videos of those elevators in a few min. There glass. That's hotel is the Hyatt Regency.
subhasri prasad Andrew Reams filmed these elevators in 1993, then he got a retake in early 2007. After that, several other elevator photographers went to the Marriott Marquis and filmed those countlessly.
Dude I HIGHLY doubt an OTIS would get stuck as they are great quality and last a VERY LONG TIME!!! Otis elevators will only run bad if not maintained properly and this goes for any elevator ( except KONE obviously), and to be honest with you, I think the Elevonic 401 motors are still original due to the motor noise, since the cab is original and the guiderails are original too, but all that was replaced were the fixtures and controllers. I do however wish they put more effort into the mod than just a slap on. I personally wish they did one of these things: 1. Renovate the hotel but keep the elevators original as they ran fine OR 2. Mod the elevators to OTIS CompassPlus with new Series 7 COP, destination dispatch, new light fixtures, new cab carpet, new cab design and new motors and controllers. That's what I think the Marriott Marquis should have done.
Uphoisting Experiences by Technicalboy3000 I hope they are REMODDED to Compass and put more effort into the mod rather than a slap on. I'm still happy though the elevators are still OTIS and they didn't get a flimsy KONE mod. A Kruppy mod would have been nice, but I think OTIS is best for this hotel. I think this hotel needed to put effort into the mod, not a slap on, and install OTIS Compass or Thyssenkrupp DSC or Schindler PORT. They need to go the same path as the one in New York.
Uphoisting Experiences by Technicalboy3000 Also, I rode these back in 2011 as you know, and while the elevators were like theme park rides, the hotel was in BAD need of a renovation. The rooms were dated, they carpet and chairs had stains on them, and the place didn't look like it had been renovated since the hotel opened in 1985. Yup, it opened in 1985. The lobby levels were renovated in 2007 but the guest floors were renovated in 2015. Also, the elevator cabs used to be red but they were painted to silver in 2008.

I was on the 47th floor when I stayed there. Great ride!
I normally don't like Marriotts, but i gotta say, these are really cool.
These elevators are FAMOUS! Pretty much anyone that comes to Atlanta films these elevators! These were also the VERY FIRST elevators ever filmed by dieselducy in the elevator community!
ems318 i will filming these elevatirs in april i am very excited i will also flim the ones at the hilton and the hyatt regency.
You might also find it interesting to know these elevators were used as the dormitory elevators in the 2nd Hunger Games movie
This film was called Catching Fire!
We all miss the Otis series 1 elevators
These have since been modernized!
Awesome elevator video. I never rode in elevators that are more than 10 floors and the elevator takes off fast. I love your elevator videos. The last time I rode an atrium elevator it was at Embassy Suites in Chicago Illinois in 1996 for a vacation and I love Chicago.
I’d like to come to Atlanta one day and ride these hotel elevators.

They have the same elevators at the Marriott Marquis in NYC in town square, it was a lot of fun!
Aren't the elevators at the Marriott Marquis in New York shindler miconics?
@@hunterneitzel3012Schindler PORT actually.
This property location and interior shot was featured in the 1986 film (Manhunter)

Otis also made elevators for the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls and the CN Tower in Toronto.
I LIVE ACROSS THE STREET FROM THAT HOTEL

How these elevators were one of the most famous elevators in the world? I didn't understand.
subhasri prasad Andrew Reams filmed these elevators in 1993, then he got a retake in early 2007. After that, several other elevator photographers went to the Marriott Marquis and filmed those countlessly.
I went in these elevators when I was a kid and I was scared to death
I like glass elevators
Cool
Its a bit high
I hive rides those elevators In ROBLOX in this hotel if you want to ride them
I doesn't look like the lift is going fast
Elevonic 401
These elevators use Skymotion 150X motors, and the speed is 5m/s
Ya Atlanta is awesome apart from the traffic
High atrium.
I'd rather take the stairs thanks
This elevator speed is 300m/min
Hotel looks grim
Can I See Your Dad"s Video?
Mattie Guillen I will post it later.
+Uphoisting Experiences by Technicalboy3000 Just so you know, the mod was just completed last week according to Alexelevatorguy.

5:20 Strange, it different from the lobby level.
no ones going down on him
How old were you when you filmed this? I was there when I was 12.
About 16, soon to be 17 at that time.
Fast up slow going down
Its typical as people may get dizzy if the elevator goes down fast
That building has some major security flaws!
it’s a public hotel?
what camera do you used in this video?
Sony Cybershot DSC-TX30.
JimLiElevators thanks man
gonna google it soon :)
I’ve Been Higher
Looks scary
