- I made this video as a brief overview of all available classes in Dark Age of Camelot for New Players. Hopefully this helps new and returning players to get adjusted to the game more quickly. This is specifically for DAoC Eden Shard in 2023.

Two Classes I forgot to mention on Midgard -
Shaman - Main buffer/healer who also has disease/root and damage spells
Bonedancer - Strong Army of pets that can either cast/melee/heal along with damage spells.
What classes are good "solo" versus stealthers.... namely against archers?
@henrythegreatamerican8136 any class with insta's and shield (intercept the arrows while you close the distance). Or hib casters if they can survive a couple of arrows(quickcast stun then nuke until dead). Or pet classes just sick the pet on the archer and get out of archery range if you're a caster. Once you interrupt archers they're usually easy to take down unless they are very skilled and/or high RR

.... core trauma unlocked.... months of grinding my shadowblade so I could do raiding... go on my first raid and immediately get frustrated wondering "why doesn't anybody want me in their group?" Internet couldn't handle rvr, and finding out I had chosen a primarily solo rvr class had me so mad.... but I thrived... sneaked and stalked my pray in rvr and learned how to make myself useful. And my guild were great people who wouldn't mind me joining the raids as dead weight, literally just "sit on the side lines, watch us, and roll on the loot"
Yeah stealthers are not great in visible groups but definitely good for solo rvr. Especially after poison changes

Love that you are doing these. I played a minstrel for over 10 years, and your description absolutely cracked me up. 100% spot on. Back in the early days, it was very possible to play a stealth-heavy minstrel and be a 1v1 juggernaut. Nowadays, not so much.
Yeah the pets are weaker overall now (due to CL15 hp on players among other things) so if you kill the pet the minstrel is pretty screwed. Glad you enjoyed it!

It seems like it. My UI was all kinds of messed up upon install. I will have to watch your set up video when I get in tonight. Some windows I could move, other windows were locked into awful places, like the map.

I played Nimue too! Albion realm. There was a Hacker Dwarf Skald named Hod that I recall broke past the realm gates. And a Hibernian stealth named Jander that was murderous. We had a pretty solid small group that ran around. Nothing like lagging out protecting the realm! Good times!

Thanks for this man, I plan on subbing to this game when I get some money, I wish they did a 30day trial like back in the day. This , Everqurst, and Anarchy online are the GOATS of MMOS. We really grew up in an era that I fill we did not appreciate enough

I started to play that game with my then 13 year old son 20 years ago (he brought me to mmos). I loved that game and I still go there sometimes just to hear the music, sounds and to ride through mostly Albion. Since everything is english there now, I have a hard time to recognize all the spells (I am German) but I still love it. I was so faszinated to see the characters from other players there and to think that they are sitting behind their monitors and play just like me. I mostly played a friar there but also others. At the beginning I had to ask my son what players mean by all the shortcuts like AFK, BRB and so on. I think I was a bit annoying for him 🤣
It is such a good memory I have of that time 😊
I am getting 68 now and I have played a lot of games since then (with my son too now and then). Now I mostly play WoW (yes I do 😂), sometimes Diablo 4 and I tried Helldivers 2 now but I am soooo slow - the bugs get me🤣
It is great to see that there are still people making videos about this fantastic game. I wish they did something to bring it more up to date.

All I remember about this game is learning what PBAoE meant. I vaguely recall this game though but I do remember lots of RvR it was a blast.
Still going strong! Eden is by far the best DAoC experience I've had to date. Season 2 starts Dec 2nd

Do you know which is better for NA pop, Mid or Alb?
It often fluctuates quite a bit. No way to predict beforehand unfortunately. Last Season NA was Alb dominated for a while, followed by Hib then Mid, but it changed up frequently. I would expect it to be fairly balanced for S2, but we'll see.
I haven’t played since pre-catacombs. Honestly was recently wondering if DAoC was still live / active. May be time to dive back into an animist or blademaster (which ironically at the time I played was best while using maces).
Heck yeah brother. Eden shard is actually peak DAoC so your timing is perfect. Should be about 3k+ players Dec 2nd for S2 launch

Sorry for the stupid question but what is the name of the Berserker's bear form ability and how to get it?
I think it's called Berserk? People also refer to it as Vendo because it technically is similar to mobs in Vendo Caverns it should be where sprint and realm abilities are located. It gives you guaranteed crits every hit but you sacrifice parry/evade. Best used against casters or for finishing blows. Not great against melee that are attacking you due to low defense
What is the Bard class equivalents in the other factions? Also, could you elaborate a bit more on Shaman, Im curious how they help the group. FYI, I've never played so any/all details are appreciated. Is there a melee type healer?
Minstrel (Albion) and Skald (Midgard) are the speed classes for those realms. They aren't really an equivalent but they both have a mezzmerize. Skald has instant spells and is a melee character. Minstrel is also melee but can charm monsters that are higher level and stealth.
Melee type healers would be: Warden / Valkyrie / Heretic

I'd love to recreate my earth Wiz from back in the day. But he was gimped AF. Awful for soloing and people would accept me in groups literally for one single shield bubble. Magma ball or something it was called. But that's what I picked and I stuck with it for years.
Earth wizzy is actually pretty decent for soloing if you distance on someone (maybe minus charge tanks). Nearsight, DoT, big burst dmg
@@zeathedaocgaming I'm looking on Eden now and a wizard doesn't seem so appealing as it did. I'm thinking of a social type of class like a minstrel or a cleric. Someone who's always useful. We'll see 🤣
I remember playing an Infiltrator back in 2005 which often terrified opponents in RvR at night.
I would hang back in the woods while stealthed, wait until an opening presented itself and go in for the kill. Usually my ambush attacks last around 3 seconds and the target dies before they knew what hit them. Then I reactivate stealth and slink back into the woods to wait for the next opportunity.
Eventually none of the players from the other realms dared to venture out too far from the guarded keeps and they bunch together for safety in numbers.
Those were the days.

Yes if you go to eden-daoc.net/charplan it shows you all classes and abilities where you can select and plan out your character accordingly.
What class are you playing for S2 Eden?
s there anyplace I can get some help , getting the Eden shard, I got screwed up with discord. I played a long time ago , tried Gaheris this year for a while , but no one is there. I am not very technical. I do better on video or phone than reading...
got an eld and a ranger atm , then i went alb and made a reaver n very fun class but im still very noobish , what u recommend for mid ?
I would recommend getting a good group of people to play with and staying on one realm just to have a better experience. Mid I would recommend Warrior or Skald
The problem I have with these private servers is that they are not actually classic. There needs to be a Shrouded Isles or pre Expansions server. This was when the game was at its peak and at its very best.
Uthgard is a pre Shrouded Isles private server. Phoenix and Atlas were both strictly 1.65 patch oriented (pre-toa). Those were very fun servers but balance was still an issue without custom tweaks. There were very little counters against casters. 1.9x patch lv is roughly what Eden is aiming for and it's emulating the official DAoC 'classic' servers. Having played both, I think balance is much better on Eden. Plus there are no ToA items that break the game
I've been thinking about this game for a long time, because I like the concept and I like the armors, the weapons - everyone is really a soldier or so.
But when I tried Eden, I didn't know where to go, what to do - how to fight. And I couldn't really find any videos on how to play the game - or was it just me looking for it lame?

Damn, I kind of want to come back to DAoC. Been a long time! Not sure how I feel about the wipes on Eden…something they’re going to stop doing? Heard something about UE update.
It's not a full wipe. Your character/Realm Rank and crafting are saved. I actually prefer this because it makes it fresh again when needed
@@zeathedaocgaming but leveling to 50 after every wipe doesn’t get old? I may just be missing something. Hoping when/if there’s a UE update there won’t be any more wipes.

Running at 1080p on steam deck. I would suggest lowering resolution and making sure drivers are updated.
just a headsup, valkyrie isn't on eden, according to their FAQ section, it seems like none of the Catacombs classes (Heretic, Bainshee, Vampiir, Warlock) are according to the FAQ. Not sure if that's outdated, or the video is lol

what is a very good solo class right now? didn t play since 2007. i m not planning to play in grp. normal it would be hunter what i play. but maybe now you can also play some classes 4 pve and pvp solo and maybe sometimes in grps.
Currently assassin's are very strong but they could get nerfed soon - they have a mechanic that allows poisons apply every hit without weapon swap. Heretics/Valkyries, light tanks and heavy tanks are strong solo as well. Solo visible is hard due to lot of groups going into solo zones

I am someone who played Daoc a lot 20 years ago. How is the lvl experience on Eden? Back then the leveling was very grind-heavy and took forever. you had to sit down to heal etc. how is that solved on the Eden Freeshard today? have there been any changes? Thanks for the answer
Leveling is nothing like the days of old on Eden. If you don't know what you're doing and just do the quests/BG's you can level to 50 in probably a week? maybe 2. If you know what you're doing, have a group power level you, and have Loyalty? I've heard of people getting to lvl 50 in 8-10 hours.
Yeah leveling is very enjoyable on Eden. You can do 1-50 in battlegrounds entirely thru RvR if you want. Or PvE quests, or even frontiers. You also get 1 free level for most of the lv 40+ raids which don't take long, so it's quick. The real grind is in RVR but even that has bonus RPs up until RR5
I think it's been 20 years since I played this. I remember the game engine being rather clunky & prone to lag, is that still the case?
It's surprisingly good outside of massive zerg fights (300-500 ppl with spell effects)

The balance is pretty good right now overall. Valks are annoying but killable, light tanks and assassin's pretty strong

I am new coming from classic wow and EverQuest p99 and need class suggestions. I want to be good in rvr and pve. I want to try one caster and one melee. Maybe skald for the melee? Idk what caster
Spiritmaster/skald are going to be pretty great beginner classes if you're going Mid. Lot of utility and group friendly

@@zeathedaocgaming Team Wizzy was this guy who had 6 computers & 6 accounts, He'd play 6 characters at once, usually a bard & 5 wizards. More than once the Albs were about to lose a stronghold or fail to capture one. Team wizzy would roll up and singlehandedly turn the tide. He had in game footage posted at one point, not sure if it's still out there.

Did they fix the 3rd party hacks, radar, flight, wall hacks, God mode that Broadsword had allowed to contine from the original game? If so, I'd seriously think about getting the gang back together to give this another look.
Never really got into DAoC. Tried to i just couldnt get away from EQ. Sad that these graphics look better than the new graphics downgrade to Pantheon.
There's always a nostalgia driving the old school mmos, so that makes sense. I had the same experience with EQ

False DAOC is dead because of people Xrealming. Albs cant get their shit together all they do is make new toons non stop. Hib non stop Zerging. The game used to be fun and no longer is. People play it because they are just old school players and doesnt matter what you do mids alway Lag on purpose to win fights. fuck this game@@zeathedaocgaming
How big is the player population? I left the original game because its population was so small there really was not others to play with. Please share population info.
Season 2 launched in December with around 3.5-4k players concurrent, I think more than season 1 did. Still busy currently, probably closer to 1-1.5k EU primetime I would guess. NA is slower, but there are plenty of people playing
