In case it wasn’t mentioned: “IPConv” stands for “interlaced-progressive video conversion”. If you plug in, say, a Cable Box that outputs 1080i, having IPConv on or set to auto will make the Onkyo convert it to 1080p. Setting IPConv off will make the Onkyo just pass through the original interlaced video signal without the Onkyo performing deinterlacing
Hello there just got 1 for me TX RZ840 everything works great, when I shut down my TV ,shuts off the receiver,10 seconds later receiver turns on automatically,tv still shut off, maybe is something I did wrong?? could be HDMI cable causing that? Other than that sounds much better than my previous Marantz sr6013,also how can I get the volume louder on the inputs ?
Great informative video, I own the tx-rz720 and it's similar but looks a bit different. I believe mine has hidden features like yours. The sound quality is great but for movies and TV the dialog is too loud. Whenever I power my receiver on it shows 'Dialog Normal+4' It only shows that for a couple seconds then switches to show the input. My question is do you know how to adjust the dialog volume? I'm assuming there's a way using a similar hidden feature but I cannot figure it out.
I have the Rz820. I have never updated the firmware since I bought it but was told this would work for mine as well one the firmware is updated. True? Also I just started having issues with the picture dropping out for a split second then coming back on, is this an HDMI issue that has plaqued older Onkyo? Never the audio just video and this just started days ago. Just bought some AVR fans to help dispurse the heat buildup. Or do you think it's the HDMI cable from Amazon that I have been using for almost a year? Any help would be greatly appreciated 👍👌
Hi, Its very hard to tell with hdmi which device may be causing it in the chain. If you have not updated the unit it would be good idea to get rid of any old firmware issues. It might not always be the reviver. For example I had issues when playing Roku. Where i initially had to initially switch the input to another then back to the rokus.... My older LG tv was replaced because the color was becoming weird. Since the Sony Oled took its place I have not had the roku issue.. On a older Onkyo I had which had pro logic 2 z ...only xbox 360 gave me issues. I personally would try a different brand high speed hdmi cable. And also change devices connected to the inputs. To see maybe its something else.
I have a RZ840 as well and I am wondering if you have successfully connected an external amplifier to the channel pre outs? When attempting to do this I do not get any sound from the pre outs.
So I was up all last night trying to figure why I wasn’t getting HDR through my Onkyo receiver for my ps5. I switched usb cables, downloaded firmware, even tried to hard reset the receiver because I didn’t have this problem with the ps4. Then I looked up a Reddit comment that mentioned holding the BD and then press power. It worked but that has to be the most dumbest thing on a receiver. Why have hidden options when you have a menu
How much better does it sound with that new avr ? I have the same speakers and I currently have a 686 but I wanted to get this bad boy not sure if I’d be able to tell a difference or not
Its a good shelf. When building it, the receiver size spacing can be places anywhere.....Mount-It! Tempered Glass AV Component Media Stand, Audio Tower and Media Center with 4 Shelves, 88 Lbs Capacity, Black Silk (MI-8670)
Hi! Onkyo fun here! I knew the one for Enhanced HDMI (have to learn it the hard way when RZ840 arrived) but none of the others: reference video from now on. Can I ask You to try something for me? Its been around two weeks (after the last update I presume), theres no way for Tidal to play FLAC, it started playing AAC 96🤯 Can you check that in your RZ840??
@@OldtradesReviews I used to use Spotify. Once I tried Tidal Hi Fi Flac 44.1/16 48/24 there was not going back. Thats why this issue is a deal breaker for me. I hope they solve it asap. I still have my CDs too. Before Tidal HiFi I ripped them to Flac and store them in USB stick in the back of the 840. I still play Minidisc, Vinyls and Cassettes too 😉
Spotify is free and I noticed on Roku it streams at high quality unlike on PC that requires subscription. I wish they would make "movies anywhere" version for music so all the favorites and saves can be easily transferred from service to service. I don't want to spend hours finding all my favorites with new service. I can't believe cassettes are still playing. I would of thought the tape stuck together or damaged from time

Thanks. Thats good info
Thank you! I have the Onkyo Tr-Sr393 and a ps5 and the ipconv auto makes HDR show in game input.
Thanks for watching
Is there a way to change the front display to show the audio (Atmos, dd+, etc) instead of the input name?

Hi, I don't think there is a hidden feature for that. I think its the level setting to adjust the center channel level.

Hi!
I would like to disable my hdmi/dsp board because my DSP is having issues.
I have a TX NR-708 receiver, can I follow the same steps?
I have a RZ840 as well and I am wondering if you have successfully connected an external amplifier to the channel pre outs? When attempting to do this I do not get any sound from the pre outs.
HI, I used it for all of the amp test videos I have made. What amp are you trying to connect?
@@OldtradesReviews I'm using a Fosi Audio TDA7498E amp.
I connected the external amplifier outlaw 5000 5 channels 120watts each, and works amazing good
Thank you!!!!!!!!!
Your welcome

Will this work for other brands ?

It sounds good on the Onkyo. Even better on my Marantz 7013. As it seems to a\have stronger amp built in.
@@OldtradesReviews oh wow that’s surprising kind of but then again I’ve heard marantz are very good I’ve only ever had onkyos so I’m bias lol
Which model of suround speakers do you have
Do you have a “how to setup your onkyo 840, coz mine is coming in couple of days, this is my 1st time to have a onkyo.
I have that on my list of videos to make. But if you go here th-cam.com/video/lJzEWULW2KE/w-d-xo.html I use the Onkyo menu to show surround formats
i love the audio stand, what the brand and model of the stand?

The definitive tech SR 9080 on surround back. And Polk RTI with 6.5 inch woofer( i forget model name) on surround siides
You have same hiden menu for Onkyo RZ810 ? Thank you.
Hi I don't know. It seems to work for many different model Onkyos
Any help for a tx-nr747? I can’t get to the secret enhanced menu
Ask onkyo support
I have the onkyo tx rz820 and I'm trying to get dolby vision to pass thru. And I just can't do it! Please help!
I dont have the 820. But explained it in this video
@@OldtradesReviews it turns out that I needed to update the reciever. Once I did that it worked fine
