  • If you’re someone who’s looking to get your first job in the field of Radiology IT or Imaging Informatics as a whole, then this video was designed for you. We’ll take a look at the overall requirements you’ll need to getting your first job offer. Obviously you’re looking to get your first job in this field so we’re assuming you have no experience as a PACS analyst. In this video, you’ll learn how to gain the necessary experience required, so you get started in this career.
    If you’re someone who is already a healthcare professional, then even better. You’ll find the step by step guide much easier. However, this video is meant to reach out to all audiences.
    What does this person do?
    Serve the purpose of supporting the system which gets images from a patient to the physician and ultimately allows the physician or physicians to then care for the patient. Obviously there’s a whole lot more to that but we’lll keep things simple for now. If you haven’t already seen my video on “What is DICOM” then check it out in the link below. I explain the workflow in which a patient first arrives at a clinic, to getting their images taken and having their images read and dictated by the physician. You can also google the titles I’ve provided and take a look at the opportunities available in the region. You’ll be able to check out number of positions open, the starting salary, the mid-career salary and really decide if this is what you want to pursue.

    This is great, I'll have to look at using this for our Radiology help desk. I've been in enterprise imaging for 6 years as a Clinical Systems Admin/Analyst and Applications Analyst. Getting new people up to speed takes some work, but its an amazing field.

      Hi Danielle. Agreed! It's an amazing field. The changing landscape keeps us on our toes and the patient outcomes are quite rewarding. We appreciate that you find our content worthy of your help desk! Thank you for the kind feedback.

    Very nice video, only the soundmix should be improved (IMHO) the voice level is to low for the music level.
    But for everything else is also technically very well done.

      Thank you very much for the honest feedback. Yes, definitely regret the volume of the background music. Will keep it to a minimum on the next video.

    Hii..... I have completed my B.Tech Biomedical engineering degree. I want to explore my carrier in radiology field. kindly help to move further and what are the courses or any platform to get in instrumentation field.

    • @HealthTechnologywithBeek
      @HealthTechnologywithBeek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Surya. Not sure how much we can help here. We have a high level video on radiology modalities but no details on instrumentation. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/CgvqDrEqNvI/w-d-xo.html
      In our experience, the biomedical engineers for the modalities also need to have an understanding of PACS, DICOM and networking as well. The engineers will need this knowledge to install a new modality. Connect it to the network. Then configure a DICOM connection to the PACS and MWL.
      Videos on PACS and DICOM:
      th-cam.com/video/fo6y6ZXpJYo/w-d-xo.html
      Articles on adding new DICOM modalities:
      pacsbootcamp.com/how-to-configure-a-dental-device/
      pacsbootcamp.com/adding-a-new-dicom-modality/
      Lastly, we find the engineers can work directly for the hospital as a biomedical engineer OR for the modality vendors. Philips, GE, Samsung, Siemens etc.
      Hope you find this helpful.

    As an Imaging Technologist I’ve been interested in this transition. Are three 12 hour shifts a possibility in this line of work? Thanks in advance

    • @HealthTechnologywithBeek
      @HealthTechnologywithBeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      We have not seen the three 12 hour shifts that a lot of allied health workers are used to.
      Rather it's more commonly a 9-5 or 8--4 set up.. with nights and weekend on-call. Unfortunately, most of the time these positions are salaried and you won't get paid extra for taking call during off-hours. However, there are some institutions that pay overtime or some type of differential. It's not all bad though. Remote/work from home/hybrid is more commonplace for roles like this. Plus you can be eligible for bonus and better promotions than if you were an allied health tech.

    Hello Sir.. wonderfully explained. Sir i am a commerce person having having 5 years of experience in Hospital Admin department. There are many modalities around me on usual basis. Can i approach these kind of Jobs..???

    • @HealthTechnologywithBeek
      @HealthTechnologywithBeek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Saikalam. I do believe it is possible. However, I also want to make it clear that everyone's situation is different. I'm not sure what your local employer requirements are but in the states, I have seen people transition from hospital admin to PACS. Since you are in the hospital environment, perhaps you can speak with the PACS professionals there? Establish a relationship and see if they can help you transition.
