      In order to get more students into university the schools made a business decision in the 60’s and 70’s. Previously the emphasis was on studying subjects such as engineering, medicine, law, history, philosophy and languages. To grow the student body they expanded the subject matter to include cultural issues such as gender studies, african-american studies, women’s studies, communications, film studies and sports education. This resulted was a cultural shift in academics. Previously you had to be reasonably intelligent to get into college and graduate, with the shift that is no longer the case.

      She, along with many others, made the assumption that they (ASU staff) would not follow through and that it was just a bluff. This is what happens when you spend your young adult life with your nose buried in your phone watching TikTok and other trash videos. She made her choice, now deal with that choice.

      I lived in Phoenix for 48-1/2 years before giving up and moving to another state! These students disgust me - they have no idea what they are protesting - haven’t read enough history in their short life to honestly understand why they/Palestine are wrong!

    At NAU we protested sobriety, quietly, in our dorm rooms. We didn't take over the campus or anything else. Protest within University Rules and when told to leave, do so.

    Good for ASU! My daughter graduated from ASU! IT ONLY TOOK ME A MONTH OR TWO TO STRAIGHTEN HER OUT AFTERWARDS! That's not to bad, I have 27yrs invested in her! She remembers her upbringing and is very proud. ❤❤❤

    The long term effects are you were suspended and loose access to the school grounds, possibly loose grades from missed classes and exams, possibly don’t graduate until another term. Worst case you are expelled from school and have to transfer to another institution!

    She crossed a line from protest to disruption and she violated the rights of other ASU students, staff and faculty. She is still unable and unwilling to accept responsibility for her bad decisions. She alone s responsible for her family's not seeing her cross the stage. She will still receive her diploma (as long as her University account shows all tuition, fees, room and board fully paid). I hope she learns her lesson.

    They were told at LEAST 20 times to disperse..... if my asian mother told me more than once I was getting a whoppin. I learned really fast three things 1. LISTEN 2. COMPLETE EVERYTHING EXPECTED WHEN TOLD 3. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. it's obvious these kids never had chores, was said no to, and pay for what they have.... because if they did college is not cheap and they would not jeopardize their education with THEIR own hard earned money....

    It’s called study and research. Research the cause you’re protesting. Research who is behind the protest. Who is funding it. And research what your college rules are about protesting. If you don’t, you shouldn’t even be in college since your courses require research. Correct?
