A 'halloween parade' is literally just the kids walking around the school in costume

When I was in middle school, that's actually why a lot of the Christmas stuff was changed, ie. "Christmas concert" to "Winter concert", "Christmas party" to "Holiday party". One JW family complained to the school...

My school is doing a "Fall Spirit Day", where we do exactly what kids do on halloween, except its not called halloween.
In my elementary school we would have "Dress up as your favorite book character day," and while it was fun, I never had a costume, so I just dressed in flannel and called myself a civil war character. We still paraded and had snacks though.

My elementry school banned EVERY holiday including halloween and Christmas because "not everybody celebrates it" instead we got "spirit week" and nothing at all for the rest of the holidays. Also the spirit week was usually stuff life "stripes day" "hat day" "twin day" stuff like that
Spirit week is something done by most schools all the way up to high school. Sometimes people had fun with it, like with pajama day. The downside was it came with a pep rally: which literally everyone hates.
Speaking of which, pep rallies aren't celebrated by everyone, so we should cancel those.

My first school cancelled it no question as it "was not religious" so they had the festival of lights instead. luckily i switched schools and got my childhood
When I was in third grade, there were two kids in my class who didn't celebrate Halloween, we didn't cancel our Halloween party because of them, they stayed in a different classroom with the other kids who didn't celebrate Halloween. Also, my school had a Halloween parade(it was only for k-5 and we walked around the track around the playground)

When I was 10 my school canceled Halloween. My class had to go to a $120 camp for a week. The kids who couldn’t go or didn’t want to go had to go back to school, but they went to a different class and learn different stuff that you didn’t learn in your other class. When you were done with the week you don’t even use the other stuff you learned when you didn’t go.

There's also a significant difference between the banning of Christmas stuff and the banning of Halloween stuff. Christmas is a Christianity-based holiday, so replacing it with general holiday celebrations allows for a broader scope and allows all schoolchildren to partake in holiday activities.
Halloween is a predominantly pagan holiday which has become something nonreligious and corporate. Banning Halloween celebrations doesn't serve to include or exclude anyone other than people like Jehova's Witnesses.
Banning one of these things eliminates a religious influence in schooling systems. Banning the other introduces religious fearmongering over harmless holidays.
For the record, I'm an atheist who does celebrate Christmas, Easter, and all the other holidays. I prefer to view them as secular and just fun.
There's a big difference between changing a holiday name commonly used by a single religion to something broader, and banning a nonreligious holiday just to please a few extremists who complained it was too creepy and pagan for their kids.
Changing a hyperreligious holiday name allows for inclusion. Banning a nonreligious holiday completely allows for censorship.
Western culture and Christianity are not the same thing. There's a reason we have rules regarding the separation of church and state.
Feel free to celebrate your religion, but most schools do not want to, during school hours, host ANY religious beliefs. It's not inclusion, it's conflict avoidance. If you feel strongly about only celebrating Christmas at school, tons of private Christian schools exist and will humour that. Public schools, however, should stay secular, even if that hurts someone's feelings.

None of my schools ever acknowledged Halloween, but when I was like i. First grade I remember dressing up as the queen of hearts and it wasn’t for a play or anything and if I remember the doors of classes were decorated. I think maybe instead of halloween we had a dress up like fairy tales day because I think we did walk around to different classes and got candy.
In first grade, my school did the same thing and replaced it with "Apple Day". We learned about Johny Appleseed and voted on favorite kinds of apples. Then we all had apples, apple juice, applesauce, and apple slices. We talked about how apples helped nature and did a meditation where we envisioned ourselves walking through apple orchards. The teachers talked about all the amazing things apples have done, and one teacher said, "An apple invented gravity". How about that?

some schools here in NJ, PA. now. are Cancelling all Holidays parties and Birthday Parties. to make it fair for children, that are not allowed to celebrate those events. one of my friend, little 5 years old was crying because can't have his Birthday Party at school. they're school banned Holidays and Birthday parties. A month before his birthday. To make it fair for kids can't celebrate them. but everyone else in his class, did before the banned. it very sad, these days. :(
My school did this, but also cancelled school on random days that were supposedly holidays. I wasn’t mad that they canceled school on those days until they announced there would be no celebration. Here’s a message to all schools, you either cancel school on all holidays, or none.
Last years fall festival at my school was canceled because people in the neighborhood were calling it “Satanic”
