  • Thank you Intel for sending me this Intel Evo platform designed Galaxy Book Pro 360, and for sponsoring this video! #ad #IntelEvo #IntelInfluencer Learn more here: intel.ly/3wKMjdh
    ★ Excited to share some behind the scenes stuff from my recent day to day work schedule! Super impressed with this laptop’s capability of being a mobile drawing tablet and handling Photoshop and other Adobe suite programs at the same time. It feels so nice to finally be able to draw and work out in the wild without having to learn new software or compromising my task list.

    so refreshing to see a skilled artist review one of these things. i's such a pet peeve when i see a review with someone going, i can make a stickman so it does photoshop XD. i used to swear by lenovo thinkpads back in the day as they were strong and reliable but the quality has since gone down. i was looking for a good mobile replacement and this may just be it. thank you for a well done review, and your art is wonderful!

      @CosmicSpectrumArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      YES! I used to use a thinkpads back in the day as well, it was a lifesaver to me cause I couldn't afford anything else. It's insane how much art I managed to create on photoshop with like 1g of ram lmao, but it definitely went downhill and one of my biggest issues was that the screen size was so small. This is definitely an improved version! The only thing that's odd is that there seem to be no pen controls. I think it's an issue of windows trying to simplify things, and I haven't really had the need to adjust anything but.. still it would be nice to have the option to recalibrate or adjust the sensitivity hmm.

    This was so insanely helpful. I used Wacom tablets in the past, switched to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 a few years ago, but it's just too heavy and a little laggy now. I was debating the iPad Pro, but iffy because of the limited software too. I'm a Samsung user and this laptop caught my eye, but I was struggling to find artists share their thoughts (your style and approach is very similar to mine!) love this!

      I've been using a 2017 Samsung Notebook Pro it's 15 inch. Samsungs have Wacom technology in them, most. IT feels like a Cintiq. I love this thing. Just add a screen matte screen protector it's like wacom mobile studio pro. I'm waiting to buy Samsung 360 pro when the aspect ratio changes to 16:10.

    A very great review of this laptop! It was very useful to hear how you used to use the iPad Pro. You had similar limitations that I'm getting with it, most especially the screen size. Your review also showed how you actually use the device to draw, something that's frequently not available in other device reviews - thanks for that! I was almost settled on the HP Envy x360 (I simply can't afford the HP Spectre x360 at this time!) ... but now I might want to look at the Galaxy Book Pro again. Great work! Thanks again!

    Great review! I almost ended up buying a laptop and tablet separately, but thankfully the laptop I ended up trying in the store today was this one! I had convinced myself that I'd need a separate tablet to be able to draw well, but seeing what you were able to do on this, I think I eventually came to the right conclusion. And to think I almost spent double the amount of money on separate items. 😅 Thanks so much, it can be hard finding artist reviews for products like this. 👍

    Loved your review of the galaxy book, it gave me some good food for thought about the fact that I'd have to change my work flow to go with an ipad from desktop pc (which is something I'm not really looking to do at the moment.)

    I'm not an artist at all, but absolutely love the GB Pro 360 as well. I mostly do video editing and music production, and use it alongside my tab S7+, the second-screen feature is just epic. I love how it carries over video AND sound with the second-screen feature, making remote edits a breeze. The OLED screen is so nice to look at it, and it's been very reliable. The added integration with my Fold 3 is a nice touch too, it really provides a streamlined and nice experience.

I have a screenless Wacom tablet that I can use with my pc at home, but my MacBook pro died and I've been needing a new computer before I go into graphic design in college. Nothing beats drawing directly on the screen too, and iPads are far too expensive and one-dimensional for what they are. You're inspiring and living the dream. For many years I've been drawing on the go, on my Samsung Note 8, and then transfer the files on my PC for the final export. I work as a 2D Game Artist, and even did frame animations directly on the phone when traveling / moving around. But it always felt a bit suffocating on the smaller screen. I didn't even know this existed until 10 mins ago. This is the perfect upgrade imo, + Windows OS & Photoshop... I'm really considering it now. uwu I'm wondering if the pen slides directly into the laptop for storage like the Note, & if the keyboard being prone to accidental button presses when folded is an issue at all. It would be nice to get some sort of cover / panel for folded use.

Waited for ages for adobe to release photoshop, and the Ipad version they released just didn't cut it for me. I've been thinking about getting this laptop so I can draw out and about but I'm concerned about how thin the screen is. Do you have any concerns about its fragility when you draw on it? I've seen people online talk about how their 360's screen broke after some use but I don't know if they are just anomalies.

    • @CosmicSpectrumArt
      @CosmicSpectrumArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      hmm.. it is VERY thin but doesn't feel flimsy to me. And typically when I draw on it, I do fold it backwards into tablet mode so the screen isn't just hovering by itself. I also typically support it with my other hand, or put it on a folded up scarf or smthn to create an angle. I feel like breaking the screen would take some effort hahaha

    I'll have to keep this one in mind for the future! It's so great to hear about alternatives to the iPad, especially for those of us who don't vibe with Procreate...((expensive disappointment x_x) Doing underdrawings and lining just isn't the same as Photoshop, and I usually end up redrawing them in PS for that reason. D: Ty for the vid, and those sketches are beautiful! c:

    • @CosmicSpectrumArt
      @CosmicSpectrumArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahh yesss!! I think procreate is okay, and I like a lot of things about it but I just always want to go back to Photoshop anyway. And tbh even the biggest ipad screen is just still too small for me, I also never want to draw on it for that reason. If it's just doodling I'd rather use a sketchbook; if it's serious work or finished/polished illustrations.. why waste time - photoshop is better hahah.

    I'm curious about the S-settings app in it. I have two Windows Samsung devices for digital art. A Samsung Galaxy Book 12 and a Samsung Notebook 9 Pro 15 inch. While both are great for Clip Studio the Notebook 9 Pro 15 doesn't have a Pen Pressure adjustment option in it's settings which make the pressure blown out in Photoshop. At least Clip Studio has a pressure adjustment setting baked into the app that I can use. I will say that battery life in both are great compared to other Windows devices so it's no surprise here that the Galaxy Book Pro 360 continues that trend.

    • @CosmicSpectrumArt

Kind of a random question, but is it weird to not use keyboard shortcuts when drawing in photoshop? I notice that when drawing on the tablet the keyboard isn't really accessible?

      yes it's definitely something I want to look into after using it for a few weeks. I am pretty reliant on shortcuts, so I'm thinking of getting a small external keyboard.... I've done that before when I used to work exclusively on a lenovo thinkpad way back in the day haha, it also transformed into tablet mode etc but was WAY bulkier and had a tiny screen. Actually the ipad pro screen is too small for me as well haha... anyway yeah, the shortcuts are definitely being missed.

    What is your expirience with paperlike screen protectors on ipad? that usually wear off the nibs pretty quickly? are they worth the money for addiitonal screen protection from scratches and the feeling, or are they too difficult to put on withotu bubbles and not worth the money for new nibs and the screen protector itself?

    • @CosmicSpectrumArt
      @CosmicSpectrumArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought a pack of 2 from amazon, they were pretty inexpensive.. not the 'paperlike' brand, but worked really well. I didn't have any issues putting it on without bubbles, but it did wear out the nibs VERY fast. like... within a few hours. I didn't end up using the ipad to draw much anyway, but I think the texture is just too rough. I find the optimal combo for me to be cintiq pro + the grey wacom tip, it's less slippery on the screen and works best for me.
      For this specific laptop, it's the same discomfort of the screen just being too slippery... so when i put my leftover ipad paper textured screen protector on it, it was PERFECT in terms of the feel, but does kinda wear out the nib as well... I already looked into getting replacements, and it's not too bad but it would be nice if there was just a slightly less textured screen protector out there =_=

      I haven't tried them - I'm sure it's amazing, but the equivalent (mobile studio 16) is extremely expensive. It's way more than twice the price of this laptop... it does look really good, but is probably heavier and I think the price point just puts it out of reach. It also comes with less storage and doesn't have a keyboard, but the 4k screen sounds very nice haha.

    Do you have problems with palm detection while drawing? I see you are not using any hand guards. I have to when I'm drawing otherwise my palm will make extra lines around the canvas (tho I have no real hand guard so I use a glove or just lift my sleeve over my palm.) Was wondering if you found some setting in the laptop itself or if it's a setting in photoshop? (I don't use photoshop so I don't know what different settings you can use for that)

      It's hard to work with 1080 on a large screen (like a cintiq), but in a relatively small screen like the galaxybook it's enough. I go back and forth a lot, and having too high resolutions also has its downsides; just make sure your files are high res.

      I decided to just get a small wireless keyboard to bring along. Haven't picked one yet, but I think there's no way around it haha. I do work sometimes with the laptop open/not flipped in tablet mode, but it would be much easier to just get an external keyboard cause shortcuts are necessary. I've actually done that before many years ago - only issue back then was that my laptop was really heavy with a gigantic charger cable, and even though i got the smallest bluetooth keyboard it was still pretty big and heavy. Thankfully now there's way more options, i'm thinking of maybe even getting one of those roll-up silicone ones.

    Yo yo! I am seriously considering this computer. In comparison with a cintiq, how does it feel ? I know it has Wacom tech, but where the iPad falls flat for me is the procreate workflow vs photoshop. Does this experience not skip a beat?

    • @CosmicSpectrumArt
      @CosmicSpectrumArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems to be the same! The cintiq has a matte screen which is nice, and also a more ergonomically designed pen i think (although i always purchase the slim pen for wacom products) which some people may prefer, but I actually like the regular thin pen that the Galaxy Pro comes with. In terms of workflow though, it's the same as any other PC - which is excellent because I had the same issue of not being able to adjust to the procreate workflow.
      I will say though that Photoshop had a hard time when the touchscreen was on simultaneously with pen input, but was totally fine after I turned touch off.
