I feel that generally, armour effectiveness should be inversely proportional to stealthiness. At least for Mediums. So if the UK wheelies are going to have paper armour, they should have had great camo.
tell that to the Japanese tier 10 TD who have better armour and better camo than a Grille 15, being twice as big. They just dont care about logic sadly or what should make sense
I seem to remember when this line was first floated they were meant to be TDs. This suggests to me that camo and terrain resistances being buffed would give it a card to play.
In my opinion, it is not even big advantage to have wheels there .. because is so much easier to cripple this tank from flank (destroy one wheel) than to detrack other mediums (especially on longer range)
I really think that they at least could return that engine boost thing. Remember when wheel vehicles were introduced at first, not only they had 2 modes for driving but also, they could kinda "sprint" for a short distance after holding spacebar.
I am bit saddened to see they are a bit underwhelming, but I really like how they look so still will get them. I am happy though it is not another OP must have line. Rather have it be below average and becoming balanced later.

No extra track, double cannon, hydraulics, no sniper mode, no turbo mode, no autoloader of any type (only premiums), no special designs such as YOH turret or oscilating turret (only manti). The only thing the british have that is not normal is a HESH round.

It is probably to silence people who say that WG is propagating endless power creep. It is like "we'll throw a mediocre line and be like 'see guys, powercreep isn't real'", and then we plan on something actually bonkers.
That is most certainly not a really good approach, it diminishes the excitement of new content going into the game, it doesn't have to be broken, it HAS to be fun. Unfortunately adding something that doesn't have anything new or anything special about it isn't exciting at all, and is bad for the game IMO

I think QB is right. It needs somthing special. Since the gun is good, give it 10-20% more alpha damage and give an option for an alternative derp gun that is fun. I think this will be a massive improvement.
Or just increase its camo and increase its he pen and maybe a tiny bit better rate of fire maybe 0.2 seconds faster the mobillity... idk man its just a medium tank at this point, or drop the reload improvement and make it faster.
Ye ye might as well give him 380 pen still would perform the same, only way to make it remotely competitive is to give him FV4005s gun but keep the accuracy, maybe a little less pen, balanced it with a bit cheaper ammo but still not that cheap to be considered poor man’s tank. Would be a meta for a 4-5 years but at least would change this money drainage game a little, I still spend around 100e a month on WoT and still feel left out, should I spend more ? Insanity
i would give this tank another gun ye a derp with 650 dmg and like 2 sec aim time with like 240 pen or so just to have something extra.. atm its just meh boring

I feel like based off your observations with the tank WG was better off making them Wheeled Tank Destroyers instead of wheeled medium tanks because you basically play it like a STRV103B

Some better camo, and HESH, I think just adding those would make it a lot better and at least more competitive, maybe lower the damage wheel penalty some too.
Fun fact, if you put the turbo directive it will actually improve the travers Speed while stationary in the concept 5, I tried it and it worked, to my surprise

I'm sure I'm not going to go after them at launch, maybe at an event where they're top of the tree. And to think it would be so simple to make them Unique... Example: two modes, defined by the speed of your tank Similar to the pneumatic suspensions, where at low speed the vehicle behaves exactly the same as in the test server, and at high speed they behave like the French vehicles with the wheel angle and dispersion increased by 50 % or 100%. a little more, maybe 10 or 20% less penalty with destroyed wheels. That would be cool and unique. But that's my opinion and they have theirs.

i want to like this tank, but it needs more alpha damage or better reload time. Give it the same reload as leo or 490 alpha. As it is right now its just a worse leopard, and why would i want that when i can just play the Leo insted of this. This tank has so much potential for the people who like this type of playstyle, but it needs a buff WG!
So basically... It is a Leopard 1 equivalent that trades DPM for near immunity to being tracked. I'm actually ok with that. The line feels... balanced. After seeing absolute endless creep of overpowered and gimmick vehicles, this is like a breath of fresh air. I'm also baffled with this statement "this is not a fast vehicle" - I mean... come on... let's be real, just because it is not another EBR Ferrari, doesn't mean it is not fast - it is still keeping up with things like bat-chat - which is easily among the fastest tanks in the game. Calling a vehicle doing consistently over 60km/h "not fast" is not exactly honest.
Trades DPM, camo and bunch of other stats in smaller quantity, for not being able to be immobilized, albeit with severely decreased speed. Wouldn't really call that Leopard equivalent. While it certainly is fast, its movement speed isn't exceptional is what I think he meant. With such lackluster stats elsewhere one would expect it to really shine at least somewhere, but it just doesn't.

ironically these tanks remind me of the British/SADF wheeled vehicles in War Blunder. they're big and hard to hide, and have no armour. but at least they tend to have huge guns

I think WG shouldn’t need to worry about every line looking different, it’s fine having clones between tech trees. The AMX30B was originally a leopard clone, then WG had to try to make it different and now it’s not even a tech tree tank anymore. But that’s my opinion
Wheeled vehicles with big 90 and 105 guns are considered Tank Destroyers in the present world. Having said that then WG has done this line the right way. This will play like support snipers I guess and thats as it should be
if they gave it hesh rounds it would have been interesting, also a slight camo buff would help, i had momments when i got spotted in some akward moments.
If they keep all the stats the same, but they can buff "ONE" characteristic it should give it British HESH pen(bc it would in line with other british tanks) and buff the DPM to ~3000 the be in line with the british tech tree characteristic of having awesome DPM. The point is that WG shouldn't overbuff it in the next iteration of the test server to the point that its OP, but give it "ONE" thing that very strong so it stands out a bit more.
The balancing on the british wheelys is great. Have never played a tank with this gun handling unbelievable what it hits while driving. Only kink they could iron out is that the wheels feel slugish. Or it feels like playing with lag because of the breaks and steering mechanic
Giving the tier X another gun option, maybe a 120mm, might make the tech line at least worth a grind. Also, hadn’t they nerf the HE shells, we wouldn’t have such an wheels issue now would we?
Fair criticisms all around, great review QB! I think the concept could benefit from actually good mobility (maybe 72 top speed and much better HP/t so it can actually reach and hold those speeds) to make the trade-offs worth it, though your proposal of higher alpha also sounds interesting.
QB seems to be missing the point. This tank is a min/max tank. This tank is all about the gun. Good players will figure out how to make a good gun work, no matter what platform it's mounted on. It's a challenge to them and it will have a certain appeal because of that gun.
Given the size of this thing, it seems pretty astonishing that it doesn't have a 4th crewman as a dedicated loader. What's taking up all the space in this giant turret? Certainly not thick armor.
THANK YOU WG! THANK YOU (HONESTLY!) I mean it, as I write it. Why? So, I am with WoT since a decade. I still play WoT just to relax and have some fun - maybe an hour or two. What really annoys me, especially for the last one or two years is the permanent grind carotte. All those vents, like steel hunter and Co., where you get the feeling you miss something, when you dont play it (and grab the rewards like xp. equipment). Spamming non-techtree and tech-tree tanks like hell, some/one behind the WoT+-Paywal. I really want to play and enjoy the game and it's mechanics. Smooth improvements of course appreciated! But I hate switching on the PC having the feeling "I know have to grind through the new Brit. Med. Tech-Tree", 'cause the tank is so powerful. I just freakin' wanna play. So again: Thanks to WG for bringing in a new tech-tree which might be interesting for just some and not a "must have". I just skip it for the moment ;)
I did the grind for this tank and it's pathetic, it would be an average to ok tier 9 medium but it is easily the worst tier 10 medium. It sort of feels like having a wheeled FV4005 given it's size, crap camo, and lack of armor but without the giant gun. The maps just aren't big enough to get far enough away for the gun accuracy to compensate for all the disadvantages. Hopefully some gradual buffs in the future to make it relevant.
You are more than fair concerning this vehicle. Wargaming you Blew it. I'll never be playing that tech tree as it is now. And I was so looking forward to the Wheeled British vehicle release. Not anymore.
It seems like a sniper, switches flanks and snipe over there. It should go faster than a cs63. I dont see any yoh tanks, and i see some bz's but not that many. Maybe another line that can collect dust in the garage. Next wheeled heavy tanks leggo, going 70 kph smacking 500s calling it.
unfortunately im done with all tech tree tanks so i have nothing left to do besides crew skill grind so ill get it and permanetly park it in the garage like most of the tier 10's
Honestly I think that the AMX 30b is just flat out better than than this tank, and the Amx 30b isn't good. It's the same speed, smaller, way better camo, has top 3 dpm of any medium, and has better view range. Literally nothing the Concept 5 has above it except dispersion. It's sad.
It's not a tank. It's an armored car. Honestly I blame WG for calling these as "tanks" and in reality they are armored cars that are intended for support or recon and not to confront tanks directly. WG should have created a new class and called them "AFVs" though of course that would include tanks, but it would help players to differentiate these vehicles from tanks. You do need a good crew and WG should have added HESH to the guns, but the premium vehicle is very decent. The key is to play them as a mobile long range support vehicle. Expose yourself as little as possible and allow others to spot for you. Move to flanks where support is needed either to defend or push. Shoot and move and relocate to another position.
I honestly really enjoy the GSOR 1010. It has its drawbacks like everyone says. BUT the consistent gun performance is so dang nice. It makes up for the lack of dpm for me. I play “accurate” tanks and get absolutely enraged by shots just not going anywhere near where I aim. I have never had a shot go off target with the 1010, sure it might miss the specific weak point I’m aiming at 300m away, but it still hits. I am looking forward to this line. Also there is something about being able to do well in tanks most people consider bad, I welcome the challenge I guess.
I think that what really neads work is tier 1 - 3, they should make them ww1 themed and way cooler and make you spend way more time in there with like ww1 tanks and towed anit tank guns
The perfect tank for the Asian server I play on, with that reverse speed. And being long winded. OK perfect is too strong a word. But will stop at the tier 7. Can't see the point going further.

wheel angle thing is ridiculous on ebr.... should lower ebr to like 25 and raise the mediums to like 10. The lack of HESH rounds seems very odd as well for this line

It's main advantage is its ability to fire and quickly reverse IMO. It does this faster than tracked vehicles.

I think giving it like 460-470 alpha would help make it interesting but not broken over powered. Since it’s dpm would still be bad for t10 meds.
Wheeled vehicles with big 90 and 105 guns are considered Tank Destroyers in the present world. Having said that then WG has done this line the right way. This will play like support snipers I guess and thats as it should be
if they gave it hesh rounds it would have been interesting, also a slight camo buff would help, i had momments when i got spotted in some akward moments.
My suggestion to make them competitive are top speed maybe 75, 10% cammo while moving and giving the tank a dpm of 2500
If they keep all the stats the same, but they can buff "ONE" characteristic it should give it British HESH pen(bc it would in line with other british tanks) and buff the DPM to ~3000 the be in line with the british tech tree characteristic of having awesome DPM.
The point is that WG shouldn't overbuff it in the next iteration of the test server to the point that its OP, but give it "ONE" thing that very strong so it stands out a bit more.
The balancing on the british wheelys is great. Have never played a tank with this gun handling unbelievable what it hits while driving. Only kink they could iron out is that the wheels feel slugish. Or it feels like playing with lag because of the breaks and steering mechanic
Give it better ground resistance and better camouflage - that could make it way more fun. Or a pump up the dmg per shot

Giving the tier X another gun option, maybe a 120mm, might make the tech line at least worth a grind. Also, hadn’t they nerf the HE shells, we wouldn’t have such an wheels issue now would we?

I think if they gave this tank 490 alpha I think it would be very fun to play, just driving around and deliver a lot of damege one by one
Fair criticisms all around, great review QB! I think the concept could benefit from actually good mobility (maybe 72 top speed and much better HP/t so it can actually reach and hold those speeds) to make the trade-offs worth it, though your proposal of higher alpha also sounds interesting.
No. Keep them slow. We dont need yet more clown cars bumming it around at 72-80kph with turbos equipped.

They are too afraid to make it too strong because a lot of grandpas dont like fast wheeled tanks

QB seems to be missing the point. This tank is a min/max tank. This tank is all about the gun. Good players will figure out how to make a good gun work, no matter what platform it's mounted on. It's a challenge to them and it will have a certain appeal because of that gun.

Given the size of this thing, it seems pretty astonishing that it doesn't have a 4th crewman as a dedicated loader. What's taking up all the space in this giant turret? Certainly not thick armor.

So, I am with WoT since a decade. I still play WoT just to relax and have some fun - maybe an hour or two. What really annoys me, especially for the last one or two years is the permanent grind carotte. All those vents, like steel hunter and Co., where you get the feeling you miss something, when you dont play it (and grab the rewards like xp. equipment). Spamming non-techtree and tech-tree tanks like hell, some/one behind the WoT+-Paywal. I really want to play and enjoy the game and it's mechanics. Smooth improvements of course appreciated!
But I hate switching on the PC having the feeling "I know have to grind through the new Brit. Med. Tech-Tree", 'cause the tank is so powerful. I just freakin' wanna play.
So again: Thanks to WG for bringing in a new tech-tree which might be interesting for just some and not a "must have". I just skip it for the moment ;)
I did the grind for this tank and it's pathetic, it would be an average to ok tier 9 medium but it is easily the worst tier 10 medium. It sort of feels like having a wheeled FV4005 given it's size, crap camo, and lack of armor but without the giant gun. The maps just aren't big enough to get far enough away for the gun accuracy to compensate for all the disadvantages. Hopefully some gradual buffs in the future to make it relevant.
You are more than fair concerning this vehicle. Wargaming you Blew it. I'll never be playing that tech tree as it is now. And I was so looking forward to the Wheeled British vehicle release. Not anymore.
It seems like a sniper, switches flanks and snipe over there. It should go faster than a cs63. I dont see any yoh tanks, and i see some bz's but not that many. Maybe another line that can collect dust in the garage.

unfortunately im done with all tech tree tanks so i have nothing left to do besides crew skill grind so ill get it and permanetly park it in the garage like most of the tier 10's

Honestly I think that the AMX 30b is just flat out better than than this tank, and the Amx 30b isn't good. It's the same speed, smaller, way better camo, has top 3 dpm of any medium, and has better view range. Literally nothing the Concept 5 has above it except dispersion. It's sad.
The side pods of the vehicles should count as space armour rather than being modelled as the tanks hull.
It's not a tank. It's an armored car. Honestly I blame WG for calling these as "tanks" and in reality they are armored cars that are intended for support or recon and not to confront tanks directly. WG should have created a new class and called them "AFVs" though of course that would include tanks, but it would help players to differentiate these vehicles from tanks. You do need a good crew and WG should have added HESH to the guns, but the premium vehicle is very decent. The key is to play them as a mobile long range support vehicle. Expose yourself as little as possible and allow others to spot for you. Move to flanks where support is needed either to defend or push. Shoot and move and relocate to another position.

I honestly really enjoy the GSOR 1010. It has its drawbacks like everyone says. BUT the consistent gun performance is so dang nice. It makes up for the lack of dpm for me. I play “accurate” tanks and get absolutely enraged by shots just not going anywhere near where I aim. I have never had a shot go off target with the 1010, sure it might miss the specific weak point I’m aiming at 300m away, but it still hits. I am looking forward to this line.
Also there is something about being able to do well in tanks most people consider bad, I welcome the challenge I guess.

I think that what really neads work is tier 1 - 3, they should make them ww1 themed and way cooler and make you spend way more time in there with like ww1 tanks and towed anit tank guns

The perfect tank for the Asian server I play on, with that reverse speed. And being long winded. OK perfect is too strong a word. But will stop at the tier 7. Can't see the point going further.
I think HESH is simple and unique characteristic this branch (and premium one) can have.

idk guys i think its perfectly balanced and the only thing that should be buffed is its cammo rating and maybe make its reload at least 8 seconds instead of 10+
i find it odd that it seems so slow compared to some other tanks and that the dmg is so low, i hope they buff it alittle bit atleast.

no it does not, STRvs have faster reverse in traversal mode.

They should have increase his max speed to 80 and his engine by 100 seeing him barely faster thant the amx bc 25 t is kinda worrying considering that its an old tank who had bigger dmp than him
The moment I saw the barrel I thought it's the L11.
