    Great research and information Rob.
I hope this is alright with you sir: To show support for your work, I thought I'd add a couple more details to the great info you've discussed here.
Rob, I'd like to clarify that the 1 oz American Palladium Eagle Coin denomination is $25, as you stated. The 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin denomination is $50, & the 1 oz American Platinum Eagle Coin denomination is $100.
    Palladium (Pd) vs Platinum (Pt)
    Melting Point:
    Pd: 1,554.9 Deg. C (2,830.82 Deg. F)
    Pt: 1,772.0 Deg. C (3,221.60 Deg. F)
    Density at Room Temperature
    Pd: 12.02 g/cubic cm
    Pt: 21.45 g/cubic cm
    Density Ratio at Room Temperature:
    Pd:Pt: 0.56037296:1
    Pt:Pd: 1.78452579:1
    Speed of Sound:
Sound travels about 9.642857% faster through Pd , as compared to Pt.
    Pd: 3,070 m/s
    Pt: 2,800 m/s
I like Silver & Platinum too, Rob...I did Smash the Like too.

Isn't palladiums use in catalytic converters likely because platinum has historically been 4x more expensive? Now that platinum is 1/3 the price of palladium you better believe they will start switching back to platinum. It takes time for manufacturing facilities to retool and start using platinum again. They can't immediately switch out one for the other

Incidentally, the rule with molten metals is: If it isn't too hot to touch, consider it WET. ANY moisture in contact with molten metals is a steam explosion and burns/fire. Dangerous hobby. Do you see Platinum and Palladium as cyclical in their in their industrial uses? To me, being that both can be used interchangeably in some industries, it seems that there will come a point where the palladium becomes too expensive, and then they will move back into platinum. I see their prices, essentially flip flopping over time. Your thoughts?

    • @muddyriverdogz
      @muddyriverdogz ปีที่แล้ว +1

Palladium is slightly more conductive, easier to melt, and lighter and yet does everything platinum can do. That makes it more attractive to industry. I think this guy is a little bias to platinum in his description of the 2 metals.

I was able to get 20 oz of PT last April when it was bouncing around $600/toz. With the premium, I paid about $825/toz. At the very least, it was two oz of PT to buy one oz of AU last year. If it just goes to parity with AU, I would be happy, but if it goes near its historical value of two oz AU for one oz of PT, then I will be extremely pleased.

Also maybe the process to apply palladium or platinum could be half or twice as much also being a factor in which to use? Maybe one has a longer life than the other so it can be used in more hi-rel motors than the other. metallurgist

If you stop rambling and going off topic then I will probably stop listening. Long form is the good form.
With electronic, if other metals go up then others take the place. Gold is a great electronic metal so will always be able to be industrial if for some odd reason other metals take over...

I see platinum as the cheapest of the precious metals at the moment.

I don’t even have to look at historical spot .. have you never looked at silver?
It’s never been close to gold, platinum, or palladium. I would say that makes it the cheapest precious metal.

IMO I like the idea of platinum being a unique density but I think bitcoin serves as better money than all precious metals. And with palladium being harder than platinum, that explains the price difference.
