    And I don't see why this community place would only be used during the stone age. It could easily have been utilised right up to the Viiking invasions. It makes sense that our cognisance of the function Scara Brae was lost then, like so much history of our own people.

    Does anyone know why they think Skara Brae was necessarily a year-round habitation rather than just a permanent site to take advantage of a seasonal resource?

      The midden pits and theory due to proximity to other neolithic sites, ring of brodgar/stennness/maeshowe were believed to be a religious / spiritual area with scara brae being a village, they belive there is a village in the area of "tomb of the eagles" but its yet to be discovered.

      @@eplurbispablum Yes you can date when the last time the stone was exposed to sunlight see Graham Hancock using Cosmic Radiation for dating stone.
