      My biggest theory for 4 is that not just Sylux will make a reappearance but so will the entire Hunters cast of bounty hunters. I think it'd be an interesting mechanic to have them work AS bounty hunters sent to hunt you down, with maybe Sylux this time as their sole contractor... maybe he is working on using the egg to make his own army, and considering he was seen in the post credits or MP3 near where phaaze was destroyed, I reckon he'll be infusing that egg with whatever phazon reminents he can muster and try to make a second Metroid Prime. By the looks of it, he could have been tailing Samus as far back as Echoes and maybe quietly observing her actions from his high tech ship. It'd be a cool twist to find out that all of his knowledge was from her, including perhaps the layout of the Norion defence facility that he'll definitely want to take out (maybe being his first action in the game with his new personal army in wiping out the federation.)
      Of course, with this style plot, his plan will probably go wrong somewhere and a main antagonist will rise to take his place now he's placed the seeds of corruption into motion once more.
      Not sure HOW phazon survived complete eradication, but I'd love to see some cool explanation on that somewhere down the line.

      Remember, the X infecting Samus' suit got there before her, and they were sealed inside a container too. The first SA-X used a powerbomb to escape. It basically had no idea where it was.

      Fire Emblem doesn't really have a timeline. The games more or less exist in parallel universes. For example, Fire Emblem 6 and 7, Binding Blade and Blazing Blade, exist in their own universe, with 7 being a prequel to 6 set somewhere between 20-30 years prior. Fire Emblem 8 is a standalone with no prequels or sequels. Meanwhile 9 and 10 are chronological entries in the same world featuring the same cast separated by, IIRC, only four years. Then Fire Emblem 11 and 12 are remakes of 1 and 2, which are also chronological but then 13 (Awakening) is a sequel to those in the same world featuring a handful of the same characters set 3,000 years later.
      Just every Fire Emblem or every other one is set in a new universe so really you can jump into just about any Fire Emblem and not be missing much, though it is worth pointing out that the series has been adding universe-hopping shenanigans lately between FE 14 and the mobile game.

    Pretty cool video, but I just want to note that, in Other M, it was not the Galactic Federation as a whole that produced the program for bioweapons (Project Metroid Warriors), but a corrupt, splinter group of the Galactic Federation Army of which Colonel is probably a member and which was probably the same ones responsible for the BSL station in Fusion (the unnamed Galactic Federation official). This distinction between the Galactic Federation as a whole and the Galactic Federation Army (and it's splinter group), as well as Parliament, is lost on the translation from the original Japanese dialogue from Other M and takes away very important details from its story. Also, the original Japanese cutscenes have different dialogue and Samus speaks in a calmer, more analytic tone that is more akin to her dialogues in Fusion and just more consistent with her character as a whole. Finally, I think there were also a few translation errors in Fusion that failed to distinguish the Galactic Federation from it's army.

    • @stevenn1940
      @stevenn1940 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The translation/localization issues are interesting, and I kind of wish we could experience that story properly, just to compare it.
      With what we were given though, I've more or less headcanoned it to where it's places early in the timeline, after zero mission, but before prime, and ignoring the baby stuff. Think about it: it fits a lot better, with what we were presented with. A less self-assured Samus, early in her career (and thus willing to submit to her former commander's.. command easily enough), having fought that hated enemy (ridely) only once before, and lends itself to greater surprise from her at discovering the breeding program on the BSL station (when so comprehensive a failure with Other M's had already happened, along with all the other events with the metroids).
      Let's be honest though: releasing any game that follows the nearly same exact story beats as the newest game (as far as the narrative goes, even if chronologically they were released in reversed order), *especially* one that deviates so far gameplay wise was never a sound choice.. Deviating in story, that can go well (fusion, it takes a much more active approach with story telling than others), as can deviating with gameplay (the prime series is a great example), but deviating *both at the same time* was never likely to catch fans in the way they wanted

It was groundbreaking back then, and my imagination use to run wild as a little kid wondering if somewhere out in space there might actually be all these incredible things happening we know nothing about. I use to say Zelda was my favorite series and its definitely still up there, but over the years Metroid has claimed the top spot.

      Metroid is not only the namesake of the genre but also, in my opinion, the best example of the genre. IMO 3 and 4 are outright masterpieces and the Prime series was the most successful translation of genre elements to a 3D environment until the Souls series came around (and yes Demons Souls/Dark Souls is a metroidvania).
      If you have a Switch with ann online subscription you have access to the original Metroid and Super Metroid. Skip Metroid - it created a genre but it doesn't hold up at all. Play Zero Mission (GBA game, easily emulated on phone, VisualBoyAdvance, and also available on WiiU eShop) if you want to experience that one. Super Metroid holds up though, and in fact IMO holds up better than any game of its age - it's absolutely remarkable how forward-looking it is.
      The second entry has three versions - the original GB Return of Samus, the 3DS remake Samus Returns, and the fanmade AM2R. They all have their respective strengths and traits that make them worth playing but for an introduction I recommend Samus Returns. It's more accessible and you can always go back to try the other ones.
      Super Metroid has only one version and it's free with a NSO subscription and includes save states and a rewind feature.
      Fusion is a GBA game, easily emulated, but is also available on the WiiU eShop and was part of the 3DS ambassador program so if you have an early 3DS or a jailbroken 3DS you'll be able to play it on that fairly easily.
      For the Prime series, best way to play is the Metroid Prime Trilogy collection, available on the Wii with pointer controls or the WiiU with the tradition gamepad control stick controls.
      Pssst, I can dropbox/google drive drop you Zero Mission and Fusion if you want.

    The only thing I didn't understand which I hope someone can help clear up.
    Weren't the Metroids created by the Chozo? Because in the video they later said that the Metroids had a home planet that they originated from, namely SR388. Weren't the Metroids created by the Chozo on Zebes? If so, what were they doing on SR388?
    The same goes for the Zebes. The one souce says it's a Chozo colony and the other says it's their home world. Confusing stuff.
    Thanks guys.

    • @C_Arson
      @C_Arson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Metroids were created on SR388 specifically to counteract the X Parasites on the planet, therefore SR388 is their homeworld. The Chozo colonized many planets, and SR388 was one of them.
      As for Zebes, it's not the Chozo's world of origin if that's what you're asking. A group of Chozo just chose to make that world their home. The terminology can seem confusing, but you have to keep in mind that a home isn't necessarily where you originated from, it's just the place where you live. Similarly, the Pirate Homeworld in Prime 3 isn't the pirates' planet of origin either, it's just a planet they took over as their primary base of operations.

      @QwertyCaesar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ridley had been cloned by the Federation at least once at a site where they were producing bioweapons and they kept his corpse on ice in Fusion at another location, where they were also building bioweapons. If we assume that the EMMI are federation weapons then it makes sense that we'd encounter Ridley.
      Also for the record the Ridley that appears at the end of Samus Returns is not canon. He isn't present in the original. Ridley's appearance in Samus Returns is fanservice and, frankly, it has been widely criticized by the fandom because it more or less ruins the somber ending of the original.

    This is a great video. But I found two problems so far.
    In Metroid Prime 3, the planet was called Phaaze, not Phazee.
    Also, I don't think she set the station to self-destruct in Fusion. If my memory is correct (and I'll know soon as I plan to replay Fusion soon), she originally planned to use the self-destruct, but Adam stopped her and told her to go to navigation instead to set the station on a collision course with SR388. This would give her more time to escape, giving her a higher possibility of survival, while also (theoretically) destroying all X on the station and on the planet.

    • @bcdfezz

      Close for fusion. It was actually both. You are right, she originally wanted to just set the self destruct sequence but Adam advised her to move the station closer to SR388 and still set the self destruct, so that the planet would be caught in the blast of the self destruct sequence
