    Why 75W140, when the manual calls for SAE 90 or 80W90? Same thing for the final drive…

    Hi, I have an R1150R, I’m new to doing my own oil changes etc, quick question, when draining the oil, is it possible there is still some oil stored in the oil coolers? Just checking incase of the risk of over filling, sweet videos btw, learning lots from watching! 🤙

    Talked to a bmw Meister, he said: even better to fill a bit more, up to a liter. Because 800 ml is max when on the stand, put the bike on the side stand and add oil up to 1000ml max.

    This looks like the engine oil change change drain and fill ports. What am I missing?

    I'm a big fan of Amsoil products, been wanting to use their 75w-140 Severe Gear oil in addition to the engine oil I already use. I presume using this or any high quality 100% synthetic would work just as well; correct? Just wanted to be sure there aren't any gotchas with the oil specification/ratings that I would need to ensure it includes for the Amsoil oil or any others.

      yeah, Amsoil is good, and really ANY 75W140 syn oil will work just fine! my friend is an engineer at Amsoil and he uses Mobil 1 in his car/bike. take that with a grain of salt

      Why 75/140 instead of 85/90? That's what I'm seeing on the manual

      @@rabitoblanco both will work, originally BMW recommended 75W140. Then changed it to 75W 90.

    Ok, so I have the orig manual, have asked the dealership (they won’t tell me sizes…not a fan)and still can’t get official crush washers sizes. What are the sizes of the transmission plug and oil plug crush washer. Thank you so much!!

    Hi, do you have a solution for changing the felt of the clutch actuator rod on 1150RT? Is it possible to take it out from behind( telelever suspension side) ? Without splitting the bike is it possible?

    • @TheBMWGuy
      @TheBMWGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, you can remove your clutch slave cylinder and remove your pushrod thru the back. you will need to remove other components to get it out but its easy and straight forward
