      Hebrews 10:19-25 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

    • @Davenport901
      @Davenport901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      There is a lot about how you can fight rage and most I learned I already forgotten and I haven't actually learned everything about it, but I do know this: if you don't open your mouth, rage will be smothered and killed. Like throwing a blanket over a fire. And how to start doing that is avoiding or leaving from a situation where you can feel rage is building up. If you're in the same room with someone and feel that rage, simply leave. Go to the bathroom, take a moment for yourself and say the Jesus prayer, talk with God, thank Him that He allows you to talk with Him via prayer for example (I'm sure you can find better advice from our Church Fathers and your Priest if want to fight it). Demons don't sleep either and they do believe in God in the sense that they know He exists since they were in Heaven. There is absolutely no doubt for them that He exists. Kinda puts things in perspective of how little He asks from us for eternal hapiness.

      I think among their short term goals (besides ultimately damning us), is to parasitize off our bodies. I think one of the reasons these angels Fell in the first place is because they envied us for having been granted BOTH flesh and spirit, the best of both ‘animal’- and ‘angelic’-like elements. So, on the way towards destroying us, I think they hitch a ride like one of those wasps that lay eggs on a caterpillar which feed off it, slowly killing it. The demons do this to try to ‘feed’ vicariously off our bodily sensations, by proxy. They can’t eat anything themselves, but they might be able to hijack the bodily sensations of some glutton.

      @Anna Bouler yes i am sure there are christians that can get angry. even christians with priestly blessings.
      my point i missed to state clear: in the time i studied vedic texts, it drove my judgmental attitude to a level i do regret today. and as i started to studie the bibel and pray, i got metaphysical remedies, more calmness and a healthier spirit.
      it didnt happen with just one prayer alone. but with every prayer it seems god is giving me something. like a bread for food, to the health of all.
      it seems to happen on a level my consciousness is not completely aware of, but i am capable of getting glimses of the fruits allmighty god grows.

      Satan loves when we hang on to shame and become slaves to it, for it distances us from God. Shame keeps us from turning to our loving and forgiving God, it keeps us from repenting and leaving our sin in the past as we turn our hearts back to the Lord, it keeps us focused on ourselves, it leaves us powerless to walk in His grace and mercy, it leaves us cowering in darkness, and it makes us forget what Christ did for us on the cross. God does not want us to remain in our shame but opens up His loving arms to His children to come into them. Instead of letting shame imprison us, may we repent, turning away from our sin and back to the Lord who loves us.

      @@maryamevermore, there is NO primacy of Peter. The “rock” πέτρα (petra), is the rock of the CONFESSION of St. Peter that Jesus is the Christ. Christ said petra, not Petros. It is quite audacious of the Papist Heresy to claim that the Pope, Patriarch of the West (at that time) was correct, while the other FOUR Patriarchs of the East were all wrong. When Rome and her dictator the Pope went their merry way in 1054, they lost ALL Apostolic succession and all validity to their Mysteries (Sacraments). When one schisms from the Church, not even the blood of martyrdom can wash such a sin away, per St. John Chrysostom. Rome has been in schism and heresy since 1054, and has compounded her heresy with more heresies: papal infallibility, immaculate conception (which makes the Mother of God a “goddess” and not human), and countless other heresies which Rome has added to her basket of schism.

      For me, the beginning of my forgiveness to those who have hurt me was the ending of my anger in issues. It took time, but I learned to forgive as Christ forgives me over and over. Nothing is impossible with God. I hope this helps.

    Isaiah 58 ....Christ's Desired Fast.
    Observances of Fasts
    58 “Cry loudly, do not hold back;
    Raise your voice like a trumpet,
    And declare to My people their wrongdoing,
    And to the house of Jacob their sins.
    2 Yet they seek Me day by day and delight to know My ways,
    As a nation that has done righteousness
    And has not forsaken the ordinance of their God.
    They ask Me for just decisions,
    They delight in the nearness of God.
    3 ‘Why have we fasted and You do not see?
    Why have we humbled ourselves and You do not [a]notice?’
    Behold, on the day of your fast you find your desire,
    And oppress all your workers.
    4 Behold, you fast for contention and strife, and to strike with a wicked fist.
    You do not fast like you have done today to make your voice heard on high!
    5 Is it a fast like this that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself?
    Is it for bowing [b]one’s head like a reed
    And for spreading out sackcloth and ashes as a bed?
    Will you call this a fast, even an acceptable day to the Lord?
    6 Is this not the fast that I choose:
    To release the bonds of wickedness,
    To undo the ropes of the yoke,
    And to let the oppressed go free,
    And break every yoke?
    7 Is it not to break your bread [c]with the hungry
    And bring the homeless poor into the house;
    When you see the naked, to cover him;
    And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
    8 Then your light will break out like the dawn,
    And your recovery will spring up quickly;
    And your righteousness will go before you;
    The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
    9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
    You will cry for help, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
    If you remove the yoke from your midst,
    The [d]pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,
    10 And if you offer yourself to the hungry
    And satisfy the [e]need of the afflicted,
    Then your light will rise in darkness,
    And your gloom will become like midday.
    11 And the Lord will continually guide you,
    And satisfy your [f]desire in scorched places,
    And give strength to your bones;
    And you will be like a watered garden,
    And like a spring of water whose waters do not [g]fail.
    12 Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins;
    You will raise up the age-old foundations;
    And you will be called the repairer of the breach,
    The restorer of the [h]streets in which to dwell.
    Keeping the Sabbath

    The balance of a spiritual life is like a constant wrestling with the internal man - continual self-reflection against the measuring stick of the Lord Most High. Most times, a helpless struggle, reminder of the contempt of the sin particle, but yet a buckling to the straight path, in the heart to try again somewhat more correctly after falling several times over. By the Mercy and Grace of The Almighty we can be strengthened and right next time.

Don’t think of yourself more superior than your neighbours , imagine having a motor vehicle accident where you were in the wrong and crashed into someone, The person jumps out and only helps you and assures you every thing is fine and smiles about it offers me help to eat ,drink no anger whatsoever even so friendly ,When anger comes upon you,be sure the devil is in you .

    If you feel so inspired, please do a talk on Christian anthropology... What are the roles of the
    Heart,
    Mind,
    Soul,
    Spirit and
    Body?
    Why does one often have conflicting views and negotiate with himself? I suspect that by better understanding human nature, there is some advantage of surviving this age.

    I am in recovery/sobriety, a perpetual fast from alcohol one day at a time "forever". The folks at the non-demon church I attend do not have that experience (of alcohol over-use/abuse). So "my other program" is a mystery to them. That is alright. Just like in my old life: my thinking remains my main sore spot, even today, in sobriety. My thinking habits are the issue that vexes me over and over. It has become necessary to change my train of thought several times a day, for many years. Sometimes hour by hour, when I am particularly twisted by some circumstance. I am so blessed to have the Lord indwelling through the Holy Spirit to ask for Him to restore my thoughts. But am I willing to surrender these thoughts? Am I willing to see my part, if any, in a vexing circumstance? Is pride or rebellion part of my problem? Envy? Fear? Greed? Laziness leading to boredom? Even in the church, there are many who suffer with such thoughts and behaviors but do not know how to change. Maybe the Almighty had me suffer through my alcoholic trials to eventually sober up, and help others. Help others through Christ and my right actions. It is another mystery 🙏🌹

    @Father Spyridon, I believe the rules of Orthodoxy are uniform throughout the world and the that there are 7 mandatory fasting seasons including Wednesdays and Fridays, and a non mandatory fasting for the migration of The Holy Mother Merry as The Ethiopian Orthodox Church teaches us. Thanks to these seasons that fasting has became my favorite food and I love fasting more than I love food. However, now that I lost too much weight, often times it makes me feel very weak to do anything and unfortunately I find myself complaining about the fasting seasons even if I still don’t want to break any of the fasting. And now that I’m in Europe it’s almost impossible to find fasting foods easily and I am too busy to cook most of the time... and I don’t know how to deal with it.

      Fasting can become a sin if we are weak and can not carry out our bodies needs to be able to serve others. I’m Not accusing you. Just saying what I read in the philokalia. Pea protein made from peas has 100 calories and 25 grams of protein . It has all 10 essential amino acids. I plan to use a lot during this fasting period. And great job sister I have never done a 40 day so you inspire me with your comment.

      @@TruthPerspecive thank you very much for your sincere comment, and I’m happy that you are inspired by the rules of fasting. Though I don’t really think fasting could be a sin because I believe Christianity is all about working hard to subject the body to the will of the spirit and a lot of our Saintly Fathers and Mothers in monasteries fast a lot even till this day. I think I was just very frustrated with so many other things when I wrote this comment and it sounds silly to me when I reread it now 😄 But yeah, I still believe that God is faithful enough to grant us all the strength we need when we need it. What are the advent fasting rules of the Orthodox Church?

    • @adambenedict6155
      @adambenedict6155 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hello David, Advent is 40 days for us in the Orthodox Church. Generally, we fast from all meat, animal based & dairy products, oils, and alcohol. However, there are several days when a little alcohol and fish is permitted. Not everyone, of course, is able to keep that level of fast because of age or health reasons. Under those circumstances Orthodox Christians will seek out a priest or spiritual father for advice and accountability. Further, what is equally important is to not neglect prayer or giving. Fasting, prayer, and giving forms the proverbial tripod we use to position ourselves before Almighty God. I hope that helps a little. - Adam in Illinois (USA).

    Blessings dear brother I agree with you fasting is god for the flesh to crucify it help us get more spiritual closer to God we don't fast for God it is for ourselves that we fast because of the corruption that's in the flesh in Isaiah 58 God explains what fasting is and how should be done is very detailed bible says quote The people ask, “Why should we fast if the Lord never notices? Why should we go without food if he pays no attention?” The Lord says to them, “The truth is that at the same time you fast, you pursue your own interests and oppress your workers. Your fasting makes you violent, and you quarrel and fight. Do you think this kind of fasting will make me listen to your prayers? When you fast, you make yourselves suffer; you bow your heads low like a blade of grass and spread out sackcloth and ashes to lie on. Is that what you call fasting? Do you think I will be pleased with that? “The kind of fasting I want is this: Remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free. Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives. “Then my favor will shine on you like the morning sun, and your wounds will be quickly healed. I will always be with you to save you; my presence will protect you on every side. When you pray, I will answer you. When you call to me, I will respond. “If you put an end to oppression, to every gesture of contempt, and to every evil word; if you give food to the hungry and satisfy those who are in need, then the darkness around you will turn to the brightness of noon. And I will always guide you and satisfy you with good things. I will keep you strong and well. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring of water that never goes dry.
    Isaiah 58:3‭-‬11 GNTD

    Joel 2:13 GNTD
    bible.com/bible/69/jol.2.13.GNTD“And when you fast, do not put on a sad face as the hypocrites do. They neglect their appearance so that everyone will see that they are fasting. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. When you go without food, wash your face and comb your hair, so that others cannot know that you are fasting-only your Father, who is unseen, will know. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.
    Matthew 6:16‭-‬18 GNTD
    bible.com/bible/69/mat.6.16-18.GNTD Jesus our lord called use to falow hi example he cast out demons and fasted and prayed for the sick and do the works of a true disciple and disciple others in this process He said to them, “Go throughout the whole world and preach the gospel to all people. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. Believers will be given the power to perform miracles: they will drive out demons in my name; they will speak in strange tongues; if they pick up snakes or drink any poison, they will not be harmed; they will place their hands on sick people, and these will get well.” After the Lord Jesus had talked with them, he was taken up to heaven and sat at the right side of God. The disciples went and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and proved that their preaching was true by the miracles that were performed.] [
    Mark 16:15‭-‬20 GNTD
    bible.com/bible/69/mrk.16.15-20.GNTDThe seventy-two men came back in great joy. “Lord,” they said, “even the demons obeyed us when we gave them a command in your name!” Jesus answered them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Listen! I have given you authority, so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the Enemy, and nothing will hurt you. But don't be glad because the evil spirits obey you; rather be glad because your names are written in heaven.”
    Luke 10:17‭-‬20 GNTD
    bible.com/bible/69/luk.10.17-20.GNTDJesus drew near and said to them, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.”
    Matthew 28:18‭-‬20 GNTD
    bible.com/bible/69/mat.28.18-20.GNTD So Jesus said to those who believed in him, “If you obey my teaching, you are really my disciples; you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
    John 8:31‭-‬32 GNTD
    bible.com/bible/69/jhn.8.31-32.GNTD true disciples are dose who obey the holy word and do it isn't not enough to fast we must do the works that Jesus did remember in Isaiah 58 “The kind of fasting I want is this: Remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free. Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives. “Then my favor will shine on you like the morning sun, and your wounds will be quickly healed. Isaiah 58:6‭-‬10 GNTD
    bible.com/bible/69/isa.58.6-10.GNTD this what happens when we connect fasting with this works that are crucial to be efficient and please God fasting on its own only deals with the flesh but it's not enough We must pray for the sick , cast out demons, help the poor and orfans and widows and kip ourselves free from being corrupted from this world that is what God calls pure religion Do any of you think you are religious? If you do not control your tongue, your religion is worthless and you deceive yourself. What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.
    James 1:26‭-‬27 GNTD
    bible.com/bible/69/jas.1.26-27.GNTDDo not love the world or anything that belongs to the world. If you love the world, you do not love the Father. Everything that belongs to the world-what the sinful self desires, what people see and want, and everything in this world that people are so proud of-none of this comes from the Father; it all comes from the world. The world and everything in it that people desire is passing away; but those who do the will of God live forever.

    Anyone working for God will always want to empower you to make a personal relationship with God. As revelation 3:20 stipulates....so anyone can talk to God. It's a prerequisite to your graduating this world.
    Am I wrong?🤔

    Father Spyridon, I have a question. In the past many months, maybe the last half year or more.
    I have started praying more and lighting the candle thing that floats on the olive oil which is on top of water and using my Jesus and Mary picture made out of wood, metal that was given to me as a child(maybe when I was Christened), and praying over it, and I'm so worried because my mind all of a sudden I hear something horrible that I am finding so difficult to control. I don't know where it comes from.
    In my mind, it or me always say "F'k my mother, or F'k the mother" and I don't know where it's coming from, when I'm reminded of church or want to pray.
    Every time I say the Lord's prayer it happens, every time I hear it in my mind I pray, but I just can't get rid of it 😥
    If I would describe it, it kind of feels like Tourette Syndrome but in my mind 😟
