    What year is it today 2011? Micro usb in brand new $200 +products ? And why don't the charger can be use as a hub for a dongle? Using 2 usb a slot for headset which start to be rare this days is a dumb idea in fact my company laptop only have 1 usb a and 2 usb c.

      There is a USB-C variant as an option

    • @anubizz3
      @anubizz3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@KevinHay1 I assume that only for the the transmiter, while the base still the same, poly can incorporate usb a base with build in hub for usb a or usb c dongle as it only need power pass tru when it charging and not in use. This will allowed the unit only using 1 usb port regardless it with base or not. Asking its customer to purchase additional power brick or sacrificing one of its usb port for a dump base is bad design.

      @@anubizz3this ... They all could make their BASE stations transmit and connect to the headset (firmware updates etc). That would eliminate the USB dongle and that prehistoric micro/ mini USB...
      And that would even be better ... Tiny USB dongligong with a tiny tiny antennae ....

    Bought a couple pair for the office in May 2024. The price was $249.99ea at Best Buy. This includes the desk charger, dongle, carry case and a few micro USB cords. The clarity of the audio is good. It switches fairly well between PC and mobile phone use.
    The "leather" pads get warm against your skin, so a cool temperature in the air conditioned office is ideal, or else you're going to want to take them off in 10-15 minutes. The range and connection is fantastic everywhere in the house, and as far as my driveway.

  • @aubah
    @aubah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The microphone noise cancellation does not work when connected via Bluetooth directly, it seems that you need the dongle for that, which means that mic noise cancellation does not work with mobile devices. I tested it with my phone and the mic noise cancellation was indeed non-existing.

      I have the Jabra Evolve2 85 UC. The first year, it was great, but after that I had issues with the boom mic not working. I made sure to keep the firmware up to date but the issue did not get resolved. After many back and forths with support, I just gave up. It still works till today but I had to frequently turn off/on the headset just to get the boom mic to work. If it weren't for the faulty mic, that headset would've been perfect. Now I am thinking of replacing it with a Poly equivalent after owning it for 3 years.

    I have both the Focus 1 and 2, very happy with the performance, but I need to say that the Focus 1 is still my preferred "Go to" Headset, I answer customer calls and in-between calls, I listen to music, I love that the Focus 1 separates the Media on one side and the call on the other. Using the Focus 2, the controls are on one side of the headset and this is a problem, no forward or backwards for music, if you want to advance to the next song, you need to press the center twice, 3 times if you want to re-listen to the same song. The problem here is when you press twice, sometimes...! it redials the last call, making me call back the last customer. Yes, I hang up immediately, but shortly after, I receive a call from the customer asking why I called? Very awkward. Never had this problem when using the Focus 1. I work in a quite environment, never next to a blender or train, no difference in the call quality between the Focus 1 and Focus 2. I was under the impression the Focus 2 was an Improvement, I realized it was not so.

      The Focus 2 has some pretty major improvements in microphone and noise cancellation. And for music, if you listen to a bass-heavy song, you'll really notice a difference. I was also disappointed in the loss of skip forward/back on the Focus 2, and gave the engineer grief for it over Christmas! I'll see if I can reproduce the redial issue - I don't skip songs all that often, so I've never experienced that. Glad you love the Focus 1 - I was told that my input had a lot to do with how it turned out.

      I have exactly the same issues with this Headset and even more! I am using the MS Version. I addition to above Issues with double and tripple button presses, today I found out, that as soon as MS Teams is started on the PC, the middle Button does no longer start/stop music, not even on my mobile! Even if I completely close MS Teams (including Taskmanager) the start/stop functionality is not restored until I reboot the PC. While the microphone quality as well audio is better than on the Focus 1, this bug is really annoying. I have tested this with two PCs and get the same results on both. I have a case open with Poly, lets see if anyhting changes....

      Is there a reason why mic quality is so poor through Bluetooth? Sound in speakers is great in bluetooth so recieving is ok but transmitting is problematic for some reason.
      If I was Musk or Bezos I would hire you to make the perfect headset and destroy the market.

    • @antonk6600
      @antonk6600 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bjorneriksson6480 as far as I understand, bluetooth call quality is inherently flawed, as it uses the mSBC codec for calls. Which has the sampling rate of 16khz. (CD quality would be 44khz)

    • @antonk6600
      @antonk6600 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Further expanding on this, it looks like the upper microphone frequency response of the Bluetooth protocol is 7000 Hz. Which would explain why the sibilants sound so unnatural via Bluetooth. This was not much of an issue in an age of phone calls, but is not ideal for the age of zoom / teams calls.

    I did hear the occasional mild clipping (distortion) when your voice was loudest. I am surprised that so many headsets do this (though I wonder how much the computer's sound electronics are to blame?) It wasn't especially distracting though. I watched a few of your Focus 2 reviews and I noticed the mic sound seems to be more rangy - meaning the sounds spikes up and down more than other mics. Whilst the sound is clear, it is probably less comfortable for the listener on the other end when the sound suddenly pierces upwards. I'm not sure if this is result of the "HD" sound being switched on.

    As an FYI for yourself as well as others. The headband that lifts, besides adding to comfort, also acts as a play / pause switch (on my Focus 1 at least). When I'm listening to audio etc, and remove the headset, the player pauses at that point. In a meeting, It automatically mutes you. Very handy feature!
    I'm looking at the 2 as my 2nd purchase, as the plastic surround for the metal head band on my 4yo Focus 1 has failed (due to my big head...) and so I've had to tape the shell closed. It appears that the 2, with the metal band extending down might be a little more sturdy in this respect. Really happy with mine, so the 2 I'm sure will be great also.

    Thank you so much for your great review! Overall the headphones look good however I see two major cons. 1 - micro usb, that just should not be happening in 2021! Means you need special cables (usb-c to micro usb) or dongles to use it with a modern laptop such as MacBook or even some Windows models. 2 - it would be great for the charging stand to also have a usb dongle functionality, so if connected to your laptop you wouldn’t need the actual usb dongle and avoid occupying two usb slots with one headset. To me these 2 points are a deal breaker.

      Hi Robert, unless you're running over the headset with a car or bending it the opposite way as hard as possible over and over again, then it should be very durable. Aside from that we haven't experienced many issues with this headset due to breaks. Any headset that claims a specific amount of range, cut that in half to be safe if you're in any environment that isn't fully open. The more barriers you have to go through, the less range you'll get.

    I just bought it based on your review, I had a zoom call, and everyone from the other end can hear the noise I have in my office? Any suggestion on that?

      Hi Kamel, try the steps below.
      1. On Zoom, Click your profile picture, then click Settings > Click the Audio. tab >Next to Suppress background noise, click the dropdown menu to select the level of suppression you wish to use.
      2. Follow the video here and make sure if you have Intel smart technology it's disabled th-cam.com/video/O8BVp8eHF_k/w-d-xo.html

    What is tbe VOLUME like? I have the Jabra Evolve 2 75 and the VOlUME is soooo LOW on the headset..especially in a loud office even with ANC on..its too low..doesn't get loud enough..ARE these LOuDER? Are you able to adjust the volume and at the highest volume is it LOUD? Louder hopefully than the Jabra Evolve 2 75..its ridiculous..what drivers did they use..I cant believe how low at full volume they are

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, we haven’t heard anyone yet say the volume on the Evolve2 75 is to low. The volume on both models are usually enough for most people, but we don’t have a way to tell you which one has louder speakers.
      Another model to consider with really good volume is the Orosound Tilde Pro

    Hi! Thank you for the awesome review! Sorry if this has been asked before: does the noise canceling cancels external noise when you're listening AND talking? I like the noise canceling on the MIC when I talk, but I still like to hear my surroundings. Thanks!

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! Thanks for watching and no problem. Anytime you have a question we're happy to help :) When you have the headset on, with both ears being covered it will reduce unwanted background noise you'd hear, but it won't 100% block out all the noise. You can further reduce the unwanted background by turning ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) on.

    Which headsets have the best microphone?

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Edan, that's a hard question to fully answer. The Focus UC 2 would be one of the best to date. Which devices would you need a headset to connect to? That will allow us to better answer your question.

      @@HeadsetAdvisor I connect mostly to an iPhone. I'm out and about, often in Midtown Manhattan so eliminating background noise is critical. I have the original Voyager Focus and the microphone is great. Since the iPhone supports AAC it would be nice to have a headset that supports it. I know that both Voyager Focus models don't.

    Nice video!
    A couple questions-
    1. Can I NOT use USB dongle, and directly use Bluetooth to connect the headset to my laptop ?
    2. If the answer of question1 is yes, will the function of noise cancelling microphone be degraded ?
    The USB ports of my laptop is full now, and that’s why I’m asking if I could use this headset without USB dongle before I purchase this product through the website provided in the link. Thanks.

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Scott 🙏 you can use these without the USB dongle but isn’t recommended because any headsets you connect to a computer via Bluetooth, it’s a hit or miss experience how well your headset will work. The included dongle is highly recommended to use with the headset.

    Voyager mic sounds more clear than the Bose 700. I wonder if the mic sound gap betweeen the two models is less when you connect the Bose 700 via USB to your PC.....

    Thanks for the great video. I have bought this Focus 2 but have an issue.
    When connected to PC through BT700, let's say if I turn off the headset and keep it on a side, the audio on the computer is still connected to BT700 and does not switch back to default speakers. I am having to manually switch to speakers and BT700 when turning off and on the Headset. Any fix for this? Windows 10 OS. Same issue with Microphone.

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Shivaji, this is normal and unfortunately by turning the headset off, it won't default back to the speaker audio. You'd need toggle back and forth from the headset and speakers within the control panel and sound settings of your computer.
