- This season has been quite interesting for the New York Rangers as they began playing great hockey then had a very long stretch up until January of playing quite awful. Since the beginning of January 2025, this Rangers team has really started to put together some wins and make a push for the playoffs.

That Philly game showed what the Rangers D is capable of. I wish we could see that more often. The main problem isn't talent, it's consistency.
You are definitely right they are quite inconsistent
we are going to just go back to the cycle of this team's deficiencies covered up by exceptional goaltending to fall short. this team is on the right path again, but they're a bubble team at best and nowhere near being a cup contender.
I agree this team isn't fixed we're just seeing what we've seen in past seasons which isn't great but at least this team will play meaningful hockey for hopefully the rest of the season.
Last night, the Canes re-tooled at the price of two really good young players. However, getting Mikko and Hall without giving up a 1st is worth the price since they've been in a win now mode. Rangers just can not win a 7 game series against the Canes or Caps. The Devils losing Markstorm for, four to six weeks leaves them very thin at the Goaltending position. So long as the Rangers get matched up with the Devils in the first round, I can see them beating them in a seven game series. The Devils are a streaky team. They can win multiple games but they can also lose multiple games at times. There inconsistent at best, but I just can't see the Rangers Beating the Canes anymore, or the Capitals.
Rangers historically routinely beat Canes. However, the Cane adds yesterday may be the secret sauce, especially Rantanen. He is the ultimate playoff performer. He can do what Kreider did last year to eliminate Canes (did you forget?). Will be interesting to see
@@dn5658 It's a new season and different mindset with this current team sadly. While yes, since the start of the new year they've been playing great hockey once again. However, it's still only the start of the second half of the season. Also, I never take past playoff performance's into a new season. The difference this time around is the league knows how to keep the Rangers in check after seeing what the Panthers did to them. Stupidly enough, the defensive coach, Phil Housley has failed to improve this defense. Only after getting Borgen and Vaak did the Rangers start playing better defense. Even with there improved defense lately, they still give up way too many high quality scoring chances per game. Rangers can't always expect Igor and Quick to bail them out on the nightly basis. In the playoffs, that's as good as a death sentence.
It would definitely be extremely tough to beat them with this exact team in a 7 game series
@@TrenurSports Rangers did make a minor trade with the Lightning, basically swapping third round pick prospects earlier today.
I saw that not too impactful though. Korczak just couldn't really develop and carry over his offensive game from juniors.
If the rangers wanna make a playoff push we're going to have to beef up....look at car. Now they're looking pretty serious. But then again how many times have the rangers gone after the big names and turned up bombing ?? I think just 2 years ago, so big .ovens don't equal cup but it wouldn't hurt to get, idk JT miller
Scoring is not their number one need for SC. Toughness is their number 9ne need to win a cup.
Playoffs very likely; Cup very unlikely.
Are we better than almost every other Wild Card contender - Yes; better than the Lightning - No.
Depends what each fan defines a "good" or "successful" season as.
The trade the Canes made was a massive gamble since they gave away two really good young players. However, I wonder how much Mikko stats were boosted due to playing on the same line with Nathan MacKinnon. I truly believe Nathan is the second best players in the league, behind Connor McDavid. So it's going to be interesting as a overall fan of hockey, to see how Mikko performs without Nathan setting him up all of the time. I honestly think he'll regress a little bit, but not by much. I think the Rangers could win a seven game series against the Devils but against the Canes or Capitals, they've got no chance.

Let's be honest here , last night was further proof we need to sell at TD . Drury WONT make moves like that and we are not beating Carolina in a 7 game series . You can keep JT i dont want any of Pittsburgh dinosaurs this TD class is unimpressive.

Honestly, with the move the Canes made. If the Rangers don't do anything leading up to the TD, then all we can expect as Rangers fans is an early playoffs exit..... Unless the players become moody again and start playing badly once more. This Rangers team is very fragile mentally an one more negative rumor can set this team back again.
@delsanravelvetheart4365 we need to sell ufas at td and if we make the playoffs it's a happy to be here run and then use the cap in off season to make big moves but we know that's not going to happen.
@@Ddeamorin Who knows, maybe Drury stumbles into making some good moves. All we can really do as fans, is hope they don't screw up....... Which we know, given the Rangers managements track record.... The chances of that happening feel like it's below 5% of actually happening an the chances of them screwing up is 95% lol. I think the Rangers really need to bank on the Red Wings interest in Lindgren to acquire some more young talented players.
