    Good vid!
    Pro Tips:
    1. Get a 8X8 canopy
    2. Brackets, hooks and ties for the Van
    3. Tie your extension cord to the power strip so you wont forget it.
    4. Always plug the controller in before launching Serato.
    5. Turn on both speakers and turn the volume down.

Bard lose that 50 foot cable and get something better. The wire gauge (thickness) is 14. That way too thin of wire to travel 50 feet and will not provide the proper voltage to your equipment which can cause the wire to overheat and damage your equipment. Get a wire with a gauge value of 12 or 10. The lower the gauge the thicker the wire. Pro Tip from a DJ that’s also an electrician.

I second this! Grab a roll of SO or SJ cable 12/3 and make your own. very professional looking and very tough! Don't skimp on the ends either. :)

DJ Hands-On Home Depot sells that cable by the foot or you order a spool from them or amazon. I use SO for bringing power to me. Then SJ for anything else. It’s the same cable just smaller diameter. Go check it out at the store. You will see what I mean. SJ just stands for service cord junior. It’s used in industrial applications. Very tough. Doesn’t mind the cold or the heat. Rating is really SOOW. And SJOW.

I use iPads all the time for ceremonies and as back up for grand entrance. They save my butt a couple times. Pro tip do not leave iPad in direct sun they over heat and takes about 10 minutes to cool down.

    • @pweldon
      @pweldon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Dj Slick I second this. I once did an outdoor ceremony while setup in direct sunlight. The iPad worked fine for the processional but during the course of the ceremony, the iPad overheated because of the sun and I couldn’t play the recessional. I now have a small iPod available as backup. I also keep both out of the sun until the last possible moment.

I use a laptop cooling fan, I carry 2 small fans 1 for my controller and 1 for my yamaha mixer. and I also have a fan to cool me down. and I drink lots of H20 and eat banana, craps from being dehydrated is a killer..

I use to hate the heat because of laptop fails.(I had the horrible laptop shut downs at a few weddings and that's a nightmare) I've also DJ'd at a water park every summer all summer long since 2014. I've gone through some laptops....ugh. I finally bought a stand alone and decided on the Denon Prime 4. Difficult transition for me but now that I'm use to it I will never go back. I used it 3 times a week this entire summer and it has never given me any problems. I think you would love it! And they've fixed the software bugs that it had in the beginning.

In NC outside weddings are a normal and having a laptop cooling pad is key. Also check Amazon for Liquid IV it’s packet you add to water also look for Hi-Lyte electrolyte salt caps on amazon. Both are must haves.

Man this hit me right in the feels. My last 3 events have been outside in Michigan, at venues that are NOT normally outside. Only 1 had appropriate coverage as required in our contract.
I honestly think people think it’s just us being “divas” or expecting too much, but all I want to do is deliver an exceptional event. If you can’t see your laptop, cues, stuff like that.... man it’s tough.
And YES the bugs brah, hate the bugs. At least 90 minutes day after cleaning all my equipment.

Ok, I have to know, when you get all sweaty doing the set up and getting things ready to go, what do you do BEFORE putting your suit on? NO WAY I could just go throw my suit and tie on, I would be a sweaty pile of crap long before the festivities start. PLEASE give me some insight on what you do. Do they have showers on the venues you could use? Please say this is the case.

    • @becomeaudible1

Wassi Productions I haven't had any response. I'm a professional musician and I do a solo acoustic gig. I have stripped down my set up as much as possible for this reason. I'm in Phoenix, we just had a run of 115 degrees for 3 months. I would be pouring sweat if I had to set up a full DJ set up. Which is the plan in the next few months. I need this info.

Awesome job! Hey I had the same heat issues too!I bought those tall fans and pointed them at my turntables and lappy all night! Guess what, the moving air going through them kept the heat down. I can feel the difference just by touching the surface. I do not like out doors of this reason but it helped a lot.

As a professional pro audio installer for Celebrity concerts and large venues, And pro audio installation for night clubs all over the East Coast. Overheating can be an issue indoor or outdoor of course more likely outdoors. With 30 years experience. What I do with my crew especially on outdoor venues we try not to use powered speakers and we run our amplifiers somewhere inside and come out with heavy 12 gauge XLR cables or 10 gauge XLR cables just to the speakers as the amplifiers are inside comfortably being air-conditioned. Never an issue with that particular set up. Also it’s good to use oversize power cables as well and of course a dedicated circuit if there’s one provided there at the event. Good power condition units are very important as well to keep the powerline very stable especially for your mono amps running the subs. But if you have to use active powered speakers we have found that QSC never overheats of course keep them out of direct sunlight but we have had events go on for 15 hours nonstop without any issues. It’s all depending on how well the heat sinks are manufactured and made on the internal active amplifier. It’s also very dependent in high heat situations on what type and what size capacitors the manufactures use on the internal active amplifier. In most cases entry level active amplified pro DJ speakers will run borderline for an outdoor event or venue. They mostly are pushing the limits once you really start pushing the system to the higher volumes because of course the resistance will increase and your active amplifiers will heat up more. Purchasing better quality active speakers instead of the entry-level although it’s a high-quality brand let’s say does not usually cut it in the entry level market. There are some ways around it if you’re not using the better quality line of pro audio speakers. Not really recommended but what you could do is if normally you need for speakers let’s say mids and highs. You can add an additional two so you have a total of six which will give you more sound output at a lower resistance rate. So you will still have the volume output that you are desiring especially when you’re jamming out but because of those two additional speakers it will really free up a lot of the work on the four that you normally would just need to power that particular size of area. But again at that point due to the price bracket if you bought for mid-level good quality brand pro audio speakers from the start you most likely would only need four instead of purchasing entry level adding two additional would probably put you at the cost of where you should’ve originally bought for higher quality speakers. But QSC Pretty much rules the industry with robust active amplifiers if you’re looking to go with built-in amps. And your cabling is super important best to just always carry around with you no smaller than 12 gauge. For our equipment we keep our decks cool with a custom unit manufactured for us that when all of our controllers, mixers or turntables Are being set down a sit on top of a custom cooling system with mini fans below flush mounted as it also stabilizes all the equipment and substantially reduces vibration.
Thought I just drop in saw your video out of the blue. Enjoy

This just happened to me at an outdoor gig with my 2018 Macbook Pro. It was 98 outside and full humidity. None of my programs would open (bouncing icons). Ran an ipad for about an hour until the unit actually did boot. Serato took 30 mins to open, it was terrible. My seventy-two was 75% operational with some functions not responding Serato wise. I was able to get through it thankfully. I did warn the party host that I was not 100% and she did appreciate that. The next day (indoors) I booted my mac and it was back to normal, thankfully no catastrophic damage. Non the less, outdoor gigs are indeed rough and can destroy your operation limiting your full potential. Thanks for the tips!

Create a mini tiki laptop hut to protect it from direct sunlight along with an appropriate sized air moving fan to help keep your laptop within reasonable operating temperatures when working in direct sunlight. Never let your laptop be exposed that way for any extended periods or that repair bill will just keep resurfacing. Would luv to see you come up to Canada and spin with me at my gigs. Good times be had by all eh! Cheers!

For your Ipad, get the App called GO button....it allows you build a cue list for your tracks to play after each other with a simple go button.... Just like they do in theatre shows...

Connection issues with serato. Try connecting your controller before launching serato. If that doesnt work hit the cue button on the left platter a couple times until the decks pop up on serato

In Chicago, I bring a few nice big black umbrellas and extra speaker stands, I can use them to cover my setup (especially for ceremony) you just have to have a wide enough speaker stand hole and the proper handle on the umbrella to pop it in, and they are easy to use and look professional enough.

@DJ Barr the newer Macbooks don't handle heat well AT ALL outside especially with sun. Try to avoid whenever possible. It's a known issue with them. The older Macbooks didn't have this issue but the slimmer ones do.

If you’re doing an outdoor ceremony, use a mobile device and push to be under shade, if not, get a speaker stand a big umbrella and gaffe tape the umbrella to the speaker stand and raise the stand over your speaker outside.
And bring a tower fan with you if it’s very humid outside as you’re mixing the reception

My experience is that issue is with the MacBook, not the controller or serato. Restart. It did it with my sz2 as well. If I lost connection or power during a gig I'd have to restart the whole computer before the laptop would recognize the USB again

90% of our weddings are outdoors, for ceremonies I try to setup under a tree if possible. but for receptions, there's a good change we'll be in direct sunlight. Vinyl skins, white, can save your gear. We also use a small clip on umbrella to keep the gear out of the sun until its time to go -- at that point the sun is usually in a more manageable position. Drink all the water you can carry. Don't worry too much about stuff over heating, but pay close attention to your laptop. My DDJ-1000 has been too hot to touch but its never failed -- we are going to get a white skin kit for it. I've never had a connection issue, but I have the RB version -- it works everytime with VirtualDJ (I know, I'm probably not a real dj... LOL)

rule number one never plug your power cord into a GFI unless you like total shutdowns, I would always carry a pop-up shade canopy that way you supply your own shade a 12 ft by 12 ft would be sufficient

had issues with Serato connecting to hardware in general. What u can do is try vdj and see if it gives the same trouble in connecting. If it does then u know it's either the cable or the device. If it dont and connects to vdj consistently, then u know it's serato.

Most of my gigs are outdoor, i use a battery operated system for ceremonies. I use a Maui 5 GO, and battery packs to run the mic and laptop, although yesterday i used my new Denon Prime GO, loved it ! I use a small facade type booth and attach small clamp on umbrellas if the sun is an issue.

The heat and humidity in Houston tx sucks and kills computers quickly.what I do is actual buy a bag of dry ice( usually the pellet form).I'll then wrap the dry ice with a few towels and then put my computer on top. Another way is still with dry ice ,I put underneath the fan which is placed on a laptop fan then laptop over that. The cold air will rise up then it pulled by the fan which then cools the bottom of the computer. Has gotten me out of many jams

It is not required to drop a ton of cash on a DJ computer. High priced Apple is not required. My music is on a HP laptop bought on sale at Bi Mart for just over 1/3 the price paid to repair that Apple. Spent another $100 for a larger internal solid state drive with the fewer plugs, the more reliable it is. Due to the main function for me is production, with some DJ on the side, the sofware is MIXXX on Linux Mint. Decided to abandon Windows after attending an event that was delayed for the better part of an hour due to a forced upgrade. This is not production ready. My music laptop is kept in a hardshell case with the Mixmaster Pro controller. Yes dated, but in great shape. Yes it works in 100 degree weather.

Barr update the controller to the latest firmware. High Sierra works the best on MacBook Pro for Serato users. My friend was on Catalina and his SRT 1000 wouldn't connect. It works fine with High Sierra. Im from Galveston,Texas very hot and humid. You must keep your Mac clean on the inside and put a small Lasko blower on the side of your computer when out in heat. TRUST ME I've been in the same situation. I like your van, don't wrap it. That keep thieves away. Keep up the good work.

I live in Southern California and about 80-90% of my gigs are outdoors. Fortunately, I avoid the direct sun light to my laptop. I’ve done a pool side gig in 115 and the laptop was still overheating in the shade. We use ice buckets to put underneath the laptop. That seems to work.
