    FROM THE ARTIST:
Recorded 15 years ago today - July 28th, 2006. "Up early to leave for the 400+km drive to the Öxnadalur valley half an hour shy of second city Akureyri in the middle of the north of Iceland. Everyone sleeps for the first half of the trip to make up for the short night we’ve had. We wake up for lunch in Kjartan’s hometown of Blönduós and eat at his recommended café just beyond the fence of his old high school. He is welcomed as a friend by the owner, who it turns out used to be his headmaster.
Once again the sky is azure and the sheer exhilaration of being outside and doing this amazing thing - a free tour of Iceland! - makes everyone (well, me at least) feel somewhat elated. We pick through the flatter marshland and straighter roads of the region around Varmahlíð much quicker than on previous days and arrive at the breathtaking site of Háls in Öxnadalur in good time. Thanks to the fine weather the stage is open to the air with no super-structure to interrupt the dramatic mountain backdrop." - John Best

Love this, the album is so chilled.
On that note anyone heard Luke Sital-Singh or Cairan Lavery accoustic sets?

11,25 reminds me so much of The Polyphonic Spree another similar artist who had several members of the group who played what they liked and music come together.
I've most of Sigur Ros albums simply because of this song.
I do love that Tool album in the background
Lateralus being a masterpiece. Anyone who can incorporate the fibonacci sequence into a song is a master musician

Yea, that was really interesting. After I reacted to it, I thought I had nailed it. Nope! I missed so much. Every song I've heard off of that has been amazing.

Sigur Rós is the greatest band ever in my opinion. You should listen to more of their music, i'd reccomend - 1. Àra Batur 2. Fljótavik 3. Festival 4. Dauðalogn 5. Staràlfur(Original Speed Version) 6. Sæglopur 7. Svefn g englar for starters.

Sigur Ros has been a solid point in my life for 20 years. Beautiful and eery like the Icelandic landscape. Jonsi sings to the elves and the mountains. Often he makes up his own language of vocalizations Vonlenska (English: Hopelandic) rather than Icelandic or English.

Definitely different. Experimental is probably a good word for it. Loved the scenery. Never heard of these guys before, going to have to re listen later.
    How's the knee doing?

The Heima performances are all mindblowing. Especially Untitled 8, which is probably the best live performance of all time, can only recommend. Also, regarding Olsen Olsen, there are no lyrics. The whole song is being sung in made up gibberish, which they call hopelandic.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Sigur Rós. Best band in the world❤ This clip is taken from the film Heima, a documentary about their tour around Iceland. Absolutely amazing film, directed by Dean DeBlois.
A lot of songs by Sigur Rós are sung in a gibberish language and Olsen Olsen is one of them. The name of the song has no meaning even tho there is a candy bar with the same name 😂
Id love to see more reactions to Sigur Rós, you should dive into their discography!

The music reminded me of the Aurora Borealis dancing across the sky - and if it had a sound this would be that sound. His voice, though I didn't undertand any of it, went well with the instrumentation.

Also, the lead singer Jónsi(pronounced as Yonsi) sings in a combination of a made up language called Hopelandic(Volenska) and Icelandic.

Btw Sigur Rós made up Hopelandic by themselves ;)

One of the best bands you may have never heard of. So good live. Check out Hoppipolla from the same concert/film Heima. Good chance you might have heard that song in a movie or Planet Earth. So uplifting.

Hi. I really did enjoy listening to this. It is just so different! I can imagine how great it would be to see them live, especially in a setting like this video. Great band. They were one of my highlights during Iceland Week.

Yes, I’ll agree with that. Both totally different from anything or anybody else. The sounds from Sigur Ros and the way Jonsi plays guitar with the bow , Mike Oldfield could do that.

sorry, but i have to say that i find sigur rós really boring. there are so many better bands from iceland.
heima is a really lovely documentary, though. well worth watching. best song is "Sigur Ros Heima Disc 2 Á Ferð Til Breiðafjarðar Vorið 1922 with Steindór Andersen". because of steindór andersens chanting. th-cam.com/video/LTcsTMKhUpY/w-d-xo.html
