My brother was given one of these back in the "70s. I was in my teens and learned to fix color sets by restoring this very same chassis. Rather unusual, it was side mounted.

Yep, side mounted makes it kind of awkward when its installed. Nice to work on tube stuff.

Beautiful TV but very badly filmed!!! the camera shakes too much!!! a real sadness, it has no stability and no good pulse the one who ruined it.

that old TVs was rather good.. ok, if you play a movie like Tron legacy it's going to show it's low resolution capacity but for a general use it's enough and about the sound well..... there is no new gen TV that can make a sound as good as old ones.
i have a 15" portable CRT TV at home that is from 1983 something like that so it's all transistorized but its sound is just excellent.... now, TV sound like a tin can with the lower price speaker ever that just been trow in it.... i have a 42" LG FHD high end (in that time... still using CCFL) TV at home and it sound horrible... i use the hi-fi when needed because i seriously can't hear that crap for more than 10 minutes.... but the FHD picture is really nice for the PC so for games and movies it's good but the hi-fi is needed. i tested a lot of flat screen TV high end or low cost all of them sound at best average but, what i like with them is that you can get one on street easily repair it and sell it or replace the one you already have because the one from the street was better and sell the one that was at home in use.... it's what i do usually!

and i forgot to say it, my old CRT TV have a really bright picture colors are excellent and it not been repaired much (yeah it needed a little of repair when i got it) the only thing i not like with it is it's portability well, a flat screen is really more portable that one is really heavy 14kg with is like 31lbs and it's a big cube! it have a big transformer on it and it's not made for survive only a bit more than the 2 year of warranty.....

will do, but prob keep this one. I have thinned out the herd a lot. only have 3 roundies now, the CTC16x in the combo, and a CTC7 in a metal shell. The 7 is the smallest roundie I have, just a metal box. Since I got into cars, I needed to give something up.

This old set has a very nice picture and good sound. It did need a lot of recapping in the color demod circuits. I had a lot of brown drop large value caps, most were very leaky. Restuffed the power supply caps IIRC as well.

Right being a color set was a big deal back in 1959, they wanted you to know it, esp since a lot of programming was still in B&W!
