    Ouch! Mana was an endangered species in this one!

    After balance:Tutor to strip was a play error; he already dropped the city of brass.

      Yes noticed that after I had commented on the match. Happens often with strip mine, as it's kind of a spell

    I know experts say Demonic Tutor for Ancestral Recall. It's been mentioned so much that it's sort of engrained into MTG players' heads. I have, for going on 30 years now, spoken just the opposite. Tutor for Black Lotus, into Wheel of Fortune was the play there in EVERY scenario.

    Great coverage. The camera showing your hand was a very nice touch. Sad games for you, but excellent match.

    Very enjoyable seeing all these cards from around the time I played MTG. I'm curious, when you say old school magic are you playing using old rules like mana burn being a thing? Or only using old sets?

    24:28 G3: I think you have enough life here that the correct play is to take the 2 damage, see what your opponent is up to - And if he doesn't do anything you can Psionic Blast the factory in his end step. Killing it instantly saves you 2 life points but takes you off Counter Spell mana and leaves you vulnerable to the Armageddon.

    • @farmsteadmtg4014
      @farmsteadmtg4014  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like your remarks. This one is difficult. I think there is little chance of him playing a spell if I hold up double blue there. I think the chances of the two lives mattering are greater than the chances of him playing armageddon if I hold up double blue. Not sure if I'm right.

      @@farmsteadmtg4014 It's an interesting decision indeed! If he doesn't play a spell in fear of a counter - that's great for you as well as he has time walked himself :)

    Great content as always. No red mana in game 1, so not going for the bolt was probably the right play

      moscapuck - based on the cards seen in the match, I have guessed at the B/W Ponza list. Please bear in mind my numbers are all made up, and might not be accurate, they might need tweaking, but it was something like this:
      Creatures
      4 x Hypnotic Specter
      4 x Black Knight
      4 x Savannah Lions
      3 x Serra Angel
      Other
      4 x Swords to Plowshares
      4 x Disenchant
      3 x Armageddon
      4 x Sinkhole
      1 x Chaos Orb
      1 x Demonic Tutor
      1 x Mind Twist
      1 x Balance
      Lands / Mana Sources
      7 x Swamp
      3 x Plains
      4 x Scrubland
      3 x City of Brass
      1 x Strip Mine
      3 x Fellwar Stone
      4 x Mishra's Factory
      1 x Sol Ring
      The only card I have put in that wasn't seen on screen is Balance, but the others were seen at some point. Not as good as having the actual list, of course, but it is a start.

    I think there where some minor mistakes but also credits to your opponent he played a great game and was lucky with all the answers,
    Would you do next time against a land destruction deck lotus in to wheel?

    • @farmsteadmtg4014
      @farmsteadmtg4014  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure. I had two blue lands. So one sinkhole is ok. But mind twist or armageddon is bad. It's not good to be tapt out and give my opponent 7 cards. What do you think?

    • @koendertruifrok567
      @koendertruifrok567 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@farmsteadmtg4014 difficult choice it really is a gamble, but against landdestruction decks I’m a bit more in favor of carddraw just to increase the change for artifact mana or just enough lands

    I was wondering wether if you played with mana burn it would affect the prevalence of Su-Chi in your meta. We play with burn in our small group of old schoolers, and the interactions with Su-Chi are sometimes.... interesting.

    • @lozkko
      @lozkko ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course, with mana burn Su-Chi is a lot weaker, nowhere near as common in EC and Atlantic. Even mana drain (though to a lesser extent). I have a land tax Serendib (Efreet + Djinn) deck where, due to mana burn (and the fact that most of my spells use coloured deck, rather than colourless) I do not know whether to use mana drain or not 😂

    • @farmsteadmtg4014
      @farmsteadmtg4014  ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember mana burn when I started mtg. An important thing was to have a Mishra's factory to activate multiple times, so that you could use mana from mana drain and su-chi. Mana burn is cool

    • @lozkko
      @lozkko ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@farmsteadmtg4014 yes, Mishra's factory is one of the most efficient mana sink (along with the book). I play both Swedish and Atlantic (the latter in X-points). I don't mind whether mana burn is in place or not, but I think in Swedish Su-Chi should be limited, not least because it makes for very boring meta, given how many people use it. Also, to give Juggernaut a chance 😂😂
