Once again, thank you for reminding viewers "It's Okay" if your goals are not as high as others. It's important to enjoy what you are doing above all else.💜
HA! That opening made me feel totally seen. Also "We don't need no damn new books. We're ganna get them anyway." is the truth. Anyways, thank you for validating my non number reading goal for 2025.
I have 10 reading goals this year. My most important goal is to protect my reading date nights. Taking the time to get cozy with candles, tea/wine, some soft instrumental music playing. Just really enjoying the experience of getting lost in a great book. There's nothing better! Thank you for the reminder to slow down! 💜💜
Thanks ☺️! I think it’s important to be realistic and mindful. Sometimes the quiet part gotta be said out loud because not everybody is understanding the implied parts lol
💜💜💜💜💜I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while now. You are amazing, resilient, funny and all the things. I hope you get to 15k subs soon. Thank you for making this video. I just downloaded Storygragh!! I absolutely love planners, stationery and pens and ALL OF IT 😂
💜 I set my reading goals at 1 also. I know I want to listen to more nonfiction books on audio. I also need to find a balance between physical books, audio books and my Kindle.
I use StoryGraph challenges to track my goals. I want to read the backlist of a couple of authors next year, so I set up challenges with their books as prompts. As I read the books, they will get checked off. Maybe something like that would work for you.
Thanks for the storygraph tips. I signed up for it a few weeks back and I am learning to navigate the site. I'm excited to see how I can make it work for me .
💜 I want to dip my toe into a new genre or 2 next year and see how that goes. This year I had a goal of reviewing more and I feel like I did but this last quarter I felt it waning so I’m going to keep that goal for 2025. And I want to utilize my book journal more because I don’t retain a lot of the details in the books I read but it would be nice to have something documented other than me remembering if I liked it or not lol. I’m a numbers girl but I also like attainable goals, so I’ll probably set my goal to 50. This year it was 60 and I surpassed it and moved it up to 75 and I’m at 74 currently. Loved the tips and hearing your reading goals 💜
I read 2 books this year. 😂 Hey, I don't wanna hear it cause that's a major achievement for me. I used to read some when I was a kid but for whatever reason, after school my interest in it just dropped. I haven't picked up a book in YEARS lol, but for whatever reason, I have just been really interested in picking up books and reading. I think it was because of stress and I was running out of things to indulge in and I just ended up reading a book and found lots of enjoyment in it. 🤣 I'm excited for reading in the years to come. I got me a new library card and everything!! Off the top of my head, I think my goals for next year is to try and read 7 books lol (don't laugh at me Shelby!! 😭) and I want to read more history books. I don't know why but I just can't remember much about history even though I know I know it... so some biographies, memoirs, and history, but I overall want reading to be fun and enjoyable! Thanks for the video Shelby! Hope 2025 is a wonderful year for you and yours! ❤❤❤
Friend i would never laugh! Two books is AMAZING! I am proud of you for doing that and increasing your goal for next year. I am here to uplift and support you however i can. but i totally feel you on the not reading for leisure after school because SAME! I was done up with books after school 😂
💜💜💜 I don’t create reading goals. You were introduced to me via THE spicy video 🌶️ and read over 100 books since then. I had stopped reading, work was grinding my nerves so I’ve been reclaiming me through reading. I read and/or listen via Kindle, Audible, Libby, Hoopla.
My goal this year was to read a book every two weeks, or about 24 books. And I smashed it! 🎉 my goal next year is to read 52 books, one per week. In the future I honestly don’t think I will set a goal higher than that. I think a book per week is a baseline that I want to maintain. If I do read more than that, great. But I’m not going to force it. Another goal of mine is to read what interests me instead of just what’s popular or recommended. Like for example, a lot of times while I’m reading a book, I’ll think about other books that have a similar premise. Or a book will make me want to dive deeper into a certain topic. Im a big mood reader and I think that doing this will help me stay out of reading slumps. It can be jarring going from one book to something completely different. So hopefully this method will keep me interested.
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 I'm on board with whateva Shelby Monae got coming do ya hear me!! The Asia Monique rec snatched me up by the collar. Now Shelby got me cheating on Finnegan with Alexandria House's Set.....I ain't neva been so loose in my lyfe. Shelby just say da word hun👩🏾🏫 class in session 😂😂😂
❤. I want to thank you for introducing me to some new authors this year. I’m a lifelong reader. When I was in University my folks all insisted that I study something sensible like nursing. Of course I did that because- you know being a good daughter right. One of my greatest regrets was not pursuing my love of art and art history. My reading goals since retiring has been reading more Art centric books. So that’s my 2025 goal at least 25% of my reading will be art centric books. Any recommendations?
My goal is to read Poetry and to try to listen to audio books. I have sensitive hearing so sometimes the undertone of a person's voice can be a trigger. So, even if it's just one will be fine. 💜💜
Once again, thank you for reminding viewers "It's Okay" if your goals are not as high as others. It's important to enjoy what you are doing above all else.💜
You’re right! Reading should be enjoyable 💜
Come on! Y’all get in here and sit down. Shelby has a good word for us today 😊❤
Yes!! 👏🏾
Great suggestions for my book reader ministry. We read all genres but need your ideas on setting goals and this blog was great for just that.😅
You’re welcome! Glad I could help
Ooooohhhhh I’m excited about this year of fantasy 💜💜💜

💜 I've always wanted goodreads (or any reading app) to let me define my goals by genre. That just seems more inspiring to me.
I use StoryGraph challenges to track my goals. I want to read the backlist of a couple of authors next year, so I set up challenges with their books as prompts. As I read the books, they will get checked off. Maybe something like that would work for you.
Storygraph has stats around genre and you can customize your stats with some of their pro features
