I was working for the Tommy-Show in Offenbach, Germany in 1994 (same production team as NYC, London, Michael Ceveris as Tommy...). I saw the show about 4 times, but since my job was backstage (checking the Sennheiser Microports, troubleshooting in the pit), I have listened to it a several hundred times (but not the main mix, only the PFL-vocals via headpone and the PA from behind the curtain ... Although the Soundtrack is easily available: I'd love to see the whole show again, but as Chris Balton already stated, he wasn't allowed to record the whole show. That's really sad. But good news is, that we can watch these parts of the show right now. A big thanks, Mr. Balton, I'm lovin' it!
I didn't know that Cerveris played Tommy in Germany! In 1999 I met him & we hung out a lot that summer (he was playing Hedwig off-bway).. He was still very bitter about not playing Tommy in London (I'd seen the London production in 1996; the guy playing the lead wasn't as good as Michael). The Ob production might be recorded at the performing arts library in nyc.
When I exiting the theater after a rehearsal, I bumped into a cameraman mentor & friend Mike Lieberman who said he was working with Eve Chilton the producer ( I think she said her company was distinctive productions) creating a documentary for Pete Townshend called “Tommy the amazing journey”;… I haven’t seen it but maybe they captured the entire show .
One of the best Original Broadway casts. I mean Michael Cerveris, Marcia Mitzman, Jonathan Dukochitz, Paul Kandel, Cheryl Freeman, Romain Fruge, Sherie Rene Scott, Norm Lewis, Alice Ripley, Michael McElroy, Christian Hoff and Tracy Nicole Chapman just to name a few. Several Broadway stars here! Awesome!
I have pro shots of the Broadway versions but bc my family worked on both - besides that , I have the b-roll footage on my Channel I made this “documentary” from company footage & from the amazing journey documentary (which is also on this channel): th-cam.com/video/GTjo_0mbVfw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=g9Jd0xBYwmI85EhC This is my 93 Tommy playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLP8EmhBa4-eAFgwMBwX26Ig3xM1Ahe14_.html&si=XAJ1bJGa2RXdlsoL
Wow. Where did this come from?! The fact that this and a few other segments you have posted exist (multi-camera, professional video) suggests that there may be a full-length video of the production, which I have never been able to locate. I would gladly buy such a DVD. Any advice?
Thank You , we were only allowed to record a few musical numbers, I uploaded the betacam tapes I found so far - if I find the others I will definitely upload them .
loved this! .. saw it 4-5 times standing room ..
My first Broadway show ever. Nothing ever beat it for me, honestly.

I like it!!
Who played Cousin Kevin in this cast? I know that isn’t Anthony Barrile.
Is it live sound? Why they haven't microfones?
The mics are usually hidden in the costumes or wigs.

Ohh dear not a patch on orignal film
God, people in London in the sixties were real jerks.
My folks experienced the 70s and 70s
