- When you're starting from scratch, it's a good idea to think things through. Before you ever drive that first nail, twist a screw, cut a board, etc. you must have a plan or else you are likely to regret it later. It's ok to amend your vision as you go, but dang if it's not just plain silly to set off for the store if you don't have directions or already know the way. Am I right?
I can think of many times I have attacked big goals both ways. Prepared and otherwise. And the former, for sure is the better way. Then, once you're committed (hopefully not in a mental institution) you just keep at it. As long as it's not painfully obvious that your plan is shit, then, 'just keep swimming'. Untold amounts of times in my life, I have achieved pretty great things because I kept at it. Not necessarily because I was exceptionally skilled. Simply because I had more patience then the average Joe. What do you think?
I hope you enjoy watching me go through this mental process as I plan out my mobile workshop's interior, as I reveal how it is all connected. Every 'bone' interacting with the next.

One of the things I'm learning as I get older is how important it is to take a few minutes and really think through an entire plan before starting on any project. I've always had a knack for figuring out how to work around any issues that come up in a project, but it's definitely better to take a little time to think beforehand.
It's nice to be involved in the way your mental process works, Marty. Seems like you're really bringing us along with you. I Like It!
Master Craftsman in action !
Your videos are informative, educational , and a pleasure to watch .
Thank you for sharing your world with us 🎣🪚🔨
Keep it rolling Marty! After retiring I find myself building all sorts of stuff and I found the most helpful tool is the eraser. I’m building a portable hunting blind, 4’x6’ trailer with studded wall box…. Sat back with a cold drink multiple times with graph paper and pencil and that eraser saved me from making costly mistakes and better ideas each time I used it. Almost tried wearing the pail over over my head for more concentration Thankin Thankin Thankin 😂 keep the videos coming!
Awesome! Takes me back to all your older videos at the kayak shop. Seems you're back in your element!
Marty, thanks for keeping this channel going. I miss the house, shop and the ICW trip (Mike too), but these videos are really interesting.
I left my trailer basically bare bone (except for all the mounting tracks literally everywhere) so I can use it for the move but I have done so much research on what people do with trailers and rabbit holes it took me on like using us general and yukon tables and carts and how people do cabinetry and flooring and work benches. I am so far away from being able to do all that but when I do I want it to be modular so I can take it all out and put it back in so what I did was mount all the rails to metal studs and e-track actually has 2x4 brackets so I can hang anything anywhere. People take all this trailer stuff super serious and in your case because you work with stuff habitually it has to be done exactly how you want it because you are the one that has to see it on the daily. Sending positive vibes!
Thanks for the videos Marty. Loving seeing you back immersed in the creative process and solving problems.
Keep 'em coming, and stay safe & well. 👍👍
From one Marty to another Marty looking good 😎👍🎣
We all like watching you tinker around and create solutions for what you need to get done.
its fun how from a simple few tasks turns into more tasks because really there were so many pieces that werent even to be considered yet but reality is no you need to consider each thing. thankfully its great when you can take small steps at a time. keep up the good work marty
I'm convinced that if we set zoff loose on a deserted island, he would come sailing back into the harbor a year later on a hand made yatch he crafted from raw materials he found on the island
It's a lot of fun watching you figuring out this stuff. It's something I'm doing in my garage at this moment.
Also, if you want to support the ends of the trusses, get L shaped brackets and screw them to the ends, sideways onto the aluminum top header. If that makes sense.
i always have enjoyed you little projects even back at the old place
Shop is looking good Marty! Always fun to watch
From all the videos I ‘ve watch of you, I know you will do an awesome job bc you are a craftsman!
Keep up the awesome content! It's great to see your videos multiple times a week!
Enjoy everything you come up with and make
I never thought of using a trailer as a workshop thats a great idea 💡
I'm very much interested and can't wait what you come up with and how it will look 👍 . Larry
We appreciate you too
Thanks for sharing
Looking good Marty...👌
With your skills and my imagination i think we can build something that can stop all wars
Love the vids, keep them coming.
You do need to support the roof and walls better (because of all the stuff I KNOW you will hang on them). So my suggestion is to use 2x4 studs laid flat to the walls to go floor to roof at each wood roof joist. Then build your workbenches and upper cabinets attached to the wall studs, adding lateral 2x4 between studs where needed. Should give plenty of support without stressing the existing walls.
Thanks for sharing!!
Good Stuff Marty!
Hey Marty have you though about mounting those storage bin you have the seats on the outside of the trailer where the top opens or swings out and up kinda like buses or RV storage bays thanks for these videos we missed you
Like your videos! You may want to consider having work benches & large tools on rollers for maximum flexibility in your limited space.
Love it!!!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its lookin mighty good sir
Hi Marty, there's a guy selling mini split ACs on facebook marketplace for about $300, I sent you a message about it. Stay cool this summer its gonna be blazing out here in Central Fl.
Man what a great thinker you are, That's working smarter not harder, You taught me an valuable lesson not to RUSH, but have a plan, We love your Florida Accent Lol are you from Long Island Or The City? Can't wait to see the next episode, you have a great setup in Tampa, Sure not making any more land , Stay Blessed my brother ✌️🌴🌅😎🇺🇸
Forgot to tell ya, Im from a small town in NY called Brooklyn, Ever hear of it, Lol L&B Spumoni Gardens Best Pizza ever 86th Street, No sleep till Brooklyn 😎
I really enjoy these videos. I like the thought process and your creativity. These give me something to take my mind off of things. What do you use to hang your rods on the wall?
I have done the ssme thing too, you start with one thought process then it changes as you work on it.
Another Marty video. 👍👍
Soo kool man
Just start building. You always use screws to put everything together. You could always unscrew it, take it apart and move it
How heavy are the panels? That should be a determining factor.
Where did you find the trailer?
Yeeeeeer
what are you going to on the roof that is so heavy that you need all the framing
Judge was right.
Hey Marty ! good video but as a Floridian on 4:05 you should know that cutting metal on flip flop don't go whell , Keep up the good work!
I have to say, sitting on the work bench should not be the determining factor in height... unless you have company and SHE'S sitting on the bench... Then *PERFECT* height *IS* important!
Other than that, the standard workbench height is roughly 34 inches
What?🤣
Run 3 2x4 long ways that will stiffen up more hold more weight
Tu as commencé a l'envers !! tu aurais du commencer par le toit .... LOL! Tu fais infrastructure et après tu l'aménage sérieux!
Would've been way easier to just bolt unistrut along each side on top of the roof and just build off that.
2:22 you been complaining a lot in your videos lately for someone trying to be philosophical. A minute later you're complaining about working alone. You need to improve your attitude bro this shi is losing my interest fast. Take it as an insult or consider I've been watching for years and seen a change for the worse and hope you'll correct course.
You're better than this
I don’t get it. What must the roof trusses support? Do you plan on a heavy load on the roof? The walls are not designed for load either. Shelf support should come from the flour. Just saying. Engineer Duke.
