It's a weird allergy-taste thing - years ago I took some kind of acne capsules that had a similar heavy diarrhea effect ONLY if I tasted the plastic coating. It took me a few days to discover that it was those capsules, as I didn't have any effect if I managed to get them down without touching my tongue so I could taste it, but every time I tasted them (can't really remember how it tasted, but it wasn't good, but not more horrible than other pills and such) I would get sick within a few hours
