how nigga? explain ? aint nobody wanna give kanye no credit , no disrespect to RZA but kanye a legend in his own regard so you better put some respek on kanye name boi
Frank White I never disrespected Kanye, I just stated a fact. RZA essentially pioneered the production style of slowing down/speeding up and chopping around soul samples. Kanye has even said his production style was heavily influenced by the RZA.
I agree but I also disagree. Having great plugins, recording equipment (class a converters, good mics etc.), samples definitely makes your music sound higher quality, which is important. Not in every genre or situation or for every track but it definitely helps.
@@hofi56 it's just additional at the end of the day, Using Cakewalk and free plug-ins can go a long way, however any software is really free if you know where to look
this track is so underrated being a producer myself and seeing how many hands were in this beat makes it 1000x better there was a lot of work that went into this ... these dude got talent ..you will never be able to recreate this shit ... EVERYTHING is original ..wow.
Does anyone else think that the production playing here is much clearer than the actual final mix of this song? To me, the final mix of "No Problem" is extremely murky.
Sis because your hearing the stems as opposed to the mp3 in your phone. even when just filmed with a good sound system, which these dudes have, Stems will always sound better.
Yeah, there wasn't a lot of clarity in the finished product. Maybe, that's where the two years in the game shows up. Still great writing, or i guess hiring of a lot of dope musicians.
you know its a blunt because of the lighter.. im a smoker and have only ever seen those lighters used to smoke weed... i know, i know, a lighter is a lighter, buut, i only see pot smokers use those lighters
I'm enjoying "The making of" series I feel like producers don't get enough credit. Plus this is super interesting since I have zero knowledge about any of this stuff
So awesome and interesting. I was convinced up until now that that was a pitched sample they were using in the background! Now, having seen them deconstruct and rebuild the entire track, I'm even more a fan of it than I was already
Honestly, I usually bash people for judging Chance's music only based on this one song they've heard, but it's a damn good hit single and a dope middle finger to them lame ass labels.
Damn i dont know who did the mixing on coloring book but they fucked up. Even on this studio video you can hear all the instruments better than in the final mix.
if it were left completely instrumental, it'd probably sound like this. thing is, vocals take up so much of the frequency spectrum that if you want them to be the focus, you have to push back most everything else.
Listen for instance to the snare and hihats, the complete treble is fucked up, the percussions arent even audible, most of the middle part got lost. If you compare this to how acid rap was mastered you hear the difference. Coloring Book is a great, great album, but awfully mastered.
well, I did a comparison between each album, even with audio visualizations, for the funzies, and the mastering isn't really that different, especially taking into consideration instrumentation variation. again, for this track the vocals take precedence, and when comparing the dynamics of the melodic bits to the drums, it actually isn't too different from what's in this video. for instance, the tambourine shaker thing is only a bit quieter, but it's still completely audible, far off from not audible like you're saying.
I love how the dude that talked the most is so down to Earth, like, he out here smoking and joint and telling us we don't need no fancy instruments to make music. Calling people's misconceptions stupid and showing us exactly how it's done like damn only 2 years in music???????? Y'all going FAR
the majority of rap songs right now use sub or synth bass.. and they did say that this was inspired by old kanye beats which were mostly sample driven. anyone can cut up a sample.
yeah i get that but what makes the song they made great is all of the live instrumentation, and considering it's their only popular song afaik it's not really cool of them to say "you don't need expensive equipment" as if they made it on a modest budget
$600 is not exceptionally expensive for a 5 string bass. they could have spent thousands but it was still a hit, that's what they're saying. They also could have used a digital bass and it might have worked just as well. If you want to make music that captures this aura then cut up some soul samples and put 808s or sampled drums under them. That's all just blaze/kanye/the heatmakers did most of the early 2000s. Then maybe eventually you'll have the money or connections to use all the live instruments and musicians you want. I doubt they had all the equipment and connections they wanted when they first started. You gotta start somewhere
nano Thats how you become succesful in music. You socialize with people of all kinds within the craft so they will play their 600$ bass or organ or whatever for a sixpack and then you socialize with other ppl who will jump on your shit
Saw these dudes live in Columbus in 2016 opening for Jack Garratt, because I had been following them for awhile. Super stoked to see how they've grown into such respected producers, and for their own group's music as well. They were super chill dudes too. Love you guys!
I've always thought of plugins as miniature music assistants. so if you have a network of people who can play instruments, help you mix tracks, solve musical issues for you etc, then plugins become less necessary. however I think for people who don't have that network, plugins are pretty important
abbyooooo creating music for 2 years but they were already trained Muscians. Nobody who started music 2 years ago is gonna be recording choirs for a track 😂

that's because there's musicians on it. smirk. no but actually the players on this thing are amazing.

Props to these guys making this. I honestly never knew what the choir was saying until now.
The 3:48 part was dope af that could've been the whole beat tbh

Like as a 10 second outro to fade out. It would have been brilliant
that sound is right up chance's alley, can't believe it didn't make it
Simplicity but complex creativity. They are so talented.
The fact that these dudes don’t use samples or plugins puts them on a different level 💯

This has to be my favorite Deconstructed video
yeah you don't need expensive equipment to be a producer, just a 600 dollar bass a choir and a bunch of talented musician friends. easy
the majority of rap songs right now use sub or synth bass.. and they did say that this was inspired by old kanye beats which were mostly sample driven. anyone can cut up a sample.

Kind of crazy how they pretty much created the song yet it looks like they live in a small house and then chance is blowing up. So Ironic
im sure they're getting some money and recognition for it, but of course not as much as chance
