Used to live in Roseneath in the early 80s when The 747SP were flying. Very majestic jet to watch on takeoff and beautiful sound. Thankfully no early morning returning.
2016 and still no accident. Fingers crossed as I'll be flying out and in two weeks. PS: When did the tower leave the suburbs ? I've been here since 1999.
Nothing has changed in Wellington when it come to major projects and forward thinking. All talk, no action. In the meantime Auckland is NZ’s sole international hub.
Nearly 30 years on and that steep Northern end has still not been sorted. Mind you no runway overshoots in all that time either. Looks like the extension to the South is going to happen first. Wellington has also lost its domestic crown to Auckland, who would have thought back in 1988...
Southern end has been in a tunnel since before 2015. Northern extension is not possible as the approach path would be too low over Newlands. Southern extension possible but the water is rather choppy. Last time they tried to drill for ground samples off a barge they chose the stormy season, it didn't work and council ran out of money. Meanwhile we have transmission gully, 😆
