I personally think, that the shadows casted onto the background by the paper puppets had more volume. The scenes had the space because of the shadows and greyish color of the paper in the poor lighting made the whole thing much more complete.
Understandable, but the intention was to just recreate the originals in higher resolution, among other reasons. Not transferring the raw handmade style. I guess it kind of ruins the titular “Paper” aspect, but I prefer animating on the computer rather than doing stop-motion as it is easier for my stupid brain.
