There should be a sitcom about that one militia unit in the Netherlands: launching daring reconnaissance raids on the French in Brussels but generally spending their time galavanting round until they return to a hero’s welcome wherever the hell they came from
A lot of the named area of recruitment units come in at drill school. Britain gets some nice area of recruitment units in the USA and Canada as well at that tier. Also a tip for artillery: lighter projectile guns base reload time are faster than heavier projectile guns. Reload skill is a modifier of the base reload
Adding onto this; if you intend to use artillery with a focus on cannister shot, get smaller guns like 3lbs and 6lbs guns and use 18 and 24lbs guns as long range artillery with round shot.
The big pirate battle, the problem was that you stuck everything in a long line with no reserves available to fill in/reinforce weak spots, or face off against the Pirate reinforcements when they arrived. With a tighter deployment (shorter line plus reserves) I think you could have won that one.
I’m playing my first ever playthrough of empire as I’m watching this and I’ve learned so much on how to play (this is my first ever total war too btw) love the series!
Darn! I was trying to be the first to comment! 😂 I remember playing Empire years ago. If memory serves, every additional trading vessel on a node or additional node increases trade income fairly significantly. I used to try and build at least 1 or 2 trade ships every turn and monopolize a trade route.
Hey Lionheart! Been watching you for atleast a decade. A tactic that i've never seen any youtuber do, but I use all the time in land battles and would love to see you try it. Is basically an early version of fire and advance (or fire and fallback). Which consists of 2 groups of Infantry, one in the front and one behind. It does require a bit of micro managing with the toggling of the 'fire at will' button. Aswell as making sure you move up the group thats reloaded, to the front. This strategy gives multiple benefits. 1) You will always have reserve units to reinforce for a melee engagement. Aswell as responding to flanks by the enemy. 2) since you are advancing each time, the shots get more accurate as you get closer 3) It's alot of fun 😃
Hello Mr. LH, Sir, Interesting beach invasion....notes from Galipoly or Dieppe? Unless your intent was just to attrition the Enemy, which you did then your intent was achieved. You did have have the option of the other Leeward island to the west of your selected invasion site, then let them come at you in broken waves? Anyways I won't mention about lack of depth or defending behind your Artillery or sending your Cavalry wide without Infantry support or at least Artillery fire support? You did knock them down a little and get into the second army in garrison a little bit. But Kevin was sacrificed Sir! Kevin! Overall, you have recovery quickly, 3 Armies in convergence, excellent infrastructure upgrades and military as well. I concur, finish the pirates and the on to the Cherokee in North America. Just one Army striking south to Spain worries me, as you will have little depth? It must be two side by side and maybe Lisbon can be reached at the same time? Artillery is needed, which you know Sir! As to all men, canon are equal! Just my thoughts Sir! Love this content and keep it coming! 🍻
Despite the cannons being slow moving I found the 12 pounders and 8 pounders very good units. Never lack on cannons in this mod. They would help you in the long run.
Georgia is an amazing campaign! You are sandwiched between Russia and the Ottomans. You can conquer towards Europe, India or Africa. But the difficulty is higher! You need a Challenge Lionheart!
Go for Georgia and the Cherokee first. Forget about the Pirates for now. Once you get Georgia and the rest of the land required for the 13 Colonies, they JOIN you and you get all their wealth as well. You'll make way more from them with their cotton and Tobacco trade goods then you will with more Sugar from Windward Islands (even if you do decide to make them Coffee plantations). And that's another thing, you might want to see if any of your Sugar plantations can be reduced to coffee plantations (you'll need to demolish them and then rebuild. It will give a choice between types of Plantations if it allows it. Some do, some don't). You can also "use" the 13 colony units as suicide troops to take on the Pirates if need be. They aren't great and depleting them while killing the enemy is way more valuable to you than just deleting them. They also could be shipped to India for wars there, they will do all right as long as they have the Morale bonuses that Line Infantry do: a lot of the Militia lack that, especially Colonial Militia. Plus, you might trigger a war with the Iroquois if they have the traditional alliance with the Cherokee right now. If so, you'll need those 13 Colony troops to deal with them. And all the Pirates are really doing right now is having a Fleet-In-Being that's keeping you from freely sailing the West Atlantic. And you could solve that by just building an attack fleet of a few 3rd Rates, a decent Admiral, 3 Heavy Frigates, and some 5th rates. Which you ALSO can do easily with the money from the 13 Colonies.
I was thinking that a fun series or group of series might be following a nation/culture through all the different total war games. You've already done France and Britain recently, so for example you could start with Iberia in Rome 1 and their equivalent in Rome 2, then Spain in Medieval 2, and finally end it in Empire/Napoleon. Obviously you'd have to modify it to make it more enjoyable (maybe stop at the peak of their influence per era/game vs campaign goals) but seemed like it might be an interesting challenge.
hey @lionhartx10 if you wanna use your cannister shot better you should aim at the ground infront of the enemy unite instead of clicking on them, since clicking on the unnite will make the cannons fire at their "right" and "left" wing instead of shooting down the the middle
You should really upgrade the school at Cambridge and your Admiralty building in London. Also, I think you could get the cannon building in Montreal if you demolish the second building in the settlement (or any other 2 slot settlement, for that matter).
Sir, though you made a strong case for you overall strategy (get the 13 colonies as an ally fast, beat spain asap, deal with the pirats, modernize the army), i find it disconcerting you are not building/concentrating a strong navy squadron capable of dealing with the strong pirate fleet and spanish armada. Surely such a fleet would be needed when later you try dominating the mediteranean and make an indian empire Also i would have thought that the disapearance of denmark and france would have provided good trade oportunites.
I can also confirm ambushes do exist in Empire 2. I was playing just the other day and the Iroquois entrapped me in one. Same as current total wars you just get flung into battle with no deployment phase and the enemy already rushing you. I have no idea how to trigger it for the player though
Hope you see this before you next record - you might want to check just who the Cherokee are allied with before attacking them as you might be biting off more than you can chew... (with your current forces and defences).
I wrote this comment before the battle with the pirates: You predicted losing, I disagree. The AI is more than capable of losing and you are actually quite good at this, besides, you don't have much cavalry, so... 😁 PS. Seriously... pirates with cavalry and horse drawn artillery? PPS. I really did not see that coming. Valiant effort. PPPS. I feel you are not taking the lives of your troops seriously. If you wanted a new army, you've heard of disbanding? 😁
Whats up with that crazy long line with no reserves in the pirate battle when youre outbumbered 2-3:1?? Not nearly enough support for your strongpoints and hardly any reaction to the enemy movement until they had basically already closed. Definitely couldve won, or done significantly more damage on that one.
Why do you build barracks in every city? You should have some government building instead so you can earn more money! You don't need 6 barracks in the Caribbean, just 1 or 2 is enough since you're not recruiting every turn. Same in North America you don't need a military academy in every city. Also consider lowering taxes in America so your cities grow!
Morocco, Safavid, mysore all have super cool unit rosters and interesting start positions with lots of options for an interesting campaign!

Lionhearts defeats the sun king without loosing a single battle but got routed by the pirate rabble. Pirates are OP
They are 😂

Beat me to saying just this :)
Even just some of the cavalry to rush around and protect the infantry
@@mema0005yep the grenadiers clearly need cavalry support as they can’t form square
Maybe retreating in the town, suppressing their numerical advantage
I’m playing my first ever playthrough of empire as I’m watching this and I’ve learned so much on how to play (this is my first ever total war too btw) love the series!
Pirates campaign would be awesome ! Bacause you love Master&Commander
Yes pirate campaign next

By far the best pirates Ive ever seen.
So it would seem 😒
God I love this game. I was so excited when it came out. Had to buy a new PC to run it! Loved the map it came with the discs.
Despite the cannons being slow moving I found the 12 pounders and 8 pounders very good units. Never lack on cannons in this mod. They would help you in the long run.
Loving all this.

you there ambushed in this campaign
a small reinforcement army was ambushed by natives in the hudson bay area
Love it, the best series so far by a mile 👍🏽

A loss is only a tactical victory! Much less upkeep to pay after ;)
The hell just happened. I thought you decided to leave the pirates alone until u got a better navy. 😱😱
I know hes not commissioned yet... but the Duke of Wellington famously said.." only fight the battles you can win, then your win the war...'
The glory continues
To answer your question from last episode. Sweden or Prussia campaign

You should have a look at the higher levels of the military barracks as they increase the upkeep of land units by 1%
Finally caught up with the series! For King and the glory of the Empire! 🇬🇧⚔️🇬🇧

Thats what happens when you mess with the pirate of the year reward ceremony

I dont think You ever played as native american , also bro send the european fleet and sink those scurvy pirates
You should name a flagship or unit after the general for his heroic efforts

PPPS. I feel you are not taking the lives of your troops seriously. If you wanted a new army, you've heard of disbanding? 😁
Your units not having bayonets also really hurt against the pirates
Also - Sa!! (salutes)
Whats up with that crazy long line with no reserves in the pirate battle when youre outbumbered 2-3:1??
Not nearly enough support for your strongpoints and hardly any reaction to the enemy movement until they had basically already closed.

Just leave the pirates and head to America
Still got some trade ships in the port in Dublin
# 1moreturn😅
THE ONLY CORRECT ANSWER IS AN AMERICAN CAMPAIGNNNN
