Corelli and Moffo as the lovers Romeo and Juliet! The most outstanding voices of their time and the most beautiful opera couple! What a shame we can't see this on video, or at least hear it on a decent recording, without the jamming on the line, the audience coughing and the announcer sniffling... How I envy those who were there! Did they know what they were witnessing? Is there a way to clear this record?
La voce di Corelli rende accettabile anche un Romeo e Giulietta in francese. La sua voce è riconoscibile da miglia e miglia di distanza. Dolce appassionata e piena di impeto giovanile di Romeo. Anna Moffo bravissima. Soprattutto belli come nessun altro. ❤❤
Since you were there, was the wedding scene cut out or did this recording simply not have enough tape for the whole performance? I’m listening to it now and the guy with the recording is saying “Cut! Oh no not another one! Oh not not again! Another ballet. These are such a waste of time.” What a frickin jackass.
Thank you for posting this glorious performance. More people know about the performance and recording Franco Corelli made with Mirella Freni but I think Anna Moffo is a better Juliet as she handles the coloratura with greater ease. Too bad there’s a stupid running commentary. I even heard “Oh no. Not again. These are such a waste of time.” Was the guy in the audience talking about the customary ballet in French opera? What a idiot. Enjoy the beautiful music while the singers take a break and keep your comments to yourself.
It's great to have a record of the performance, but its quality is terrible. With the talking during the performance, and the distant mic, I'm sure It was someone in not a great place in the auditorium with a cassette recorder of the era. I remember all that well.

Lucky you. I've heard both live so I know how fantastic it was. And as an added plus, both are very attractive.

E per fortuna che esiste questa registrazione con la Moffo che e' raffinatissima e stratosferica giacche' la Freni e' deprimente e paesana.
This is pitched a half step too high and correspondingly fast. It makes Corelli sound like a gerbil!! Can we have it at the correct speed please?
