¡Muchísimas gracias! ¡Saludos desde Nuevo México! Yo soy un estadounidense del estado Nuevo México, además yo soy hispano, sin embargo, inglés es mi primer idioma entonces yo quiero aprender Español y hablar con mucho gente desde hispanidad. ¡Qué Viva Gran Hispanidad! ⚔️🇪🇸🇺🇸🇲🇽⚔️

Hello. In the phrase "tan pronto como", which means "as soon as", why does "tan" represent the first "as", but como represents the second "as" instead? Could we say "tan pronto tan" or "como pronto como" alternatively? Thank you.
it's not a word by word translation. Tan means So, Pronto means Early, Como means Like/As. So Tan Pronto Como = So early as.
Whereas english As Soon As is more different when it comes down to word by word translation. and Spanish makes more sense in this case.
@@h9mian Thank you.
It’s almost like an idiomatic expression. It’s a trap to spend much time trying to translate based on English language logic. You’ll find many expressions that you simply have to remember what they mean to the native speakers, because these expressions are common, and will still be used long after we’ve left the scene. It also saves time in the learning process to create “chunks” or short phrases that can easily become whole sentences using each of the 30.
