This is the first time I have heard this song. It is a beautiful reflection of his life of faith. Although I never met him, I managed to make it to three concerts - Eugene and Roseburg OR and, one of his last concerts, Long Beach, CA. With great sadness, I still remember 28 July 1982. It is as others have said, he accomplished what the Lord had for him to do. At 28, his life was complete. May my days be as full when my final hour comes.
Wow! Another anointed song by a man who loved the Lord above all. Praise be to G-d for Keith. I was blessed to have seen him in concert back at the Trenton War Memorial building. The place was packed. They passed around empty KFC buckets for the free will offering and gave away free LP's of his records if you couldn't afford to buy one. I was blessed beyond words to have seen him live in concert. Praise be to the Holy One of Israel for Keith Green and his family.

I would have to say, if it wasn't for the loving & giving heart of Keith Green, I probably would not have become a believer and remained "the course" even through today. I led my brother to the Lord and he and I have led nearly 25 members of our extended family to Christ. I even have two boys who have become full-time ministers of the Gospel of Christ. (Keith would be proud) I have studied under many significant ministries, leaders, preachers, churches, in several denominations, but, sad to say, I have had to renounce many their influences from my life for many of them have fallen away from Christ Himself and His solid and simple teachings. Keith Green was that prophet that had caused myself and many to be single-focused in my walk with Christ and to seek to be planted in quality soil in order to produce fruit.

This song is so beautiful, I remember Jesus coming to me and holding my right hand with his right hand litterally and he spoke to my mind, and his presence was as bright as the sun just not harsh,it lit up my whole bedroom with a golden warm light, as if the sun was in the middle of it, it was around 5:30am and it was pretty dark outside too, his presence was so loving and warm. It was at the lowest point of my life, I felt hopeless, until Jesus let me see his love. I can relate to this song so much. :,).
Though this song never made it to a CD, it made it to our hearts, VIA TH-cam. No words can say how special Keith was, and this song. He may be gone for now, but his music isn't. In a little while we'll see him in heaven, he's probably up there singing away. :0)

That caption on Keith advocating free distribution of his music is really interesting, and it's really awesome if it was in fact so. It sounds like he would have loved the internet and the free and open source movement of today, the principles of which are nothing new and are in fact biblical- freely sharing (your work) amongst mankind (as far as is possible to do so and still earn enough to live). From all I've heard of him and Melody, such as them opening their house to the homeless, it seems like they really tried to live these and other Godly principles.
Yes it is true! Melody Green wrote a biography of Keith's life and explained his motivation. He believed it was wrong to charge people for something they needed so badly...Christ. Of the 200,000 albums sold, 60,000 were given away for free. (It think this was his "So you want to go back to Egypt" album?)

In fact, his biography (written by his wife Melody Green) called "No Compromise" has challenged my own convictions and my willingness to follow His leading no matter the cost. It is truly an incredible biography of an incredible man fully committed to Christ.
He decided to do all of his concerts free, and give away all of his records at no cost, after a discussion with Leonard Ravenhill, a true prophet of God.
The only correction I would have to the lyrics above is to change the word "you" to "your" where it says born again into "your" light. We are born into His light, "your" light.

I don't understand what your argument against this man of God is, but you have forgotten how to love and how to share out of love. These things I command you, that you love one another. (Keith is following His Lord's command by sharing his heart with us out of a love for Jesus and a love for His Father.) When you criticize a brother I have to wonder if the love of God resides in you. John 15:18-25, If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you. A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, "They hated Me without a cause." (You seem to be hating Keith and therefore Christ, without cause. Check your heart. Why are you critical?) 1 Corinthians 9:11-12 If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things? If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more? 1 Corinthians 9:14 Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel. (This is in response to your criticism that Keith was supported in the ministry with monetary gifts.) Keith was not a prosperity preacher. He did not become rich off the ministry. He gave away to others. He took people in off the streets into his home. He does not deserve your criticism.
Doth not even nature itself teach you , that , if a man have long hair , it is a shame unto him? Shame in this verse , dishonor. Obedience to Christ. The music also , there is no scripture for the music Keith plays. Sounds exactly like the world. I do not judge his salvation. But it is enough to say , Keith had a following. This is outright Sin. Keith claimed that he explained people are NOT to follow him. They did just the same. Why then did he not STOP? It was his responsibility. The music and the money continues to this day. Just because someone says they are saved , does not mean , they are.
Please take your hate and judgment elsewhere. Keith Green was a godly man who sang for the glory of God. Of all the people you could have chosen to attack, you really missed the mark on this one.

The church may be toxic, but Jesus never is, it was the church that ran me away from God, but the Lord in His infinite grace left the 99 to go find His 1 lost sheep after 33 years and I'm back with my first love now, forever with my Lord, never been happier.

@dagiffy I got it off of a cd/dvd collection called "First Love: a historic gathering of Jesus music pioneers" you can get it on Amazon (my library has it). Since Keith couldn't be there they added this previously unreleased song and had matthew ward sing a couple of keith's other songs.

WOW... until now, I've only listened to the shorter version of this song and I've always been puzzled as to why it says "born again" and didn't have born again in the lyrics. This song is amazing! Thank you so much!
That caption on Keith advocating free distribution of his music is really interesting, and it's really awesome if it was in fact so. It sounds like he would have loved the internet and the free and open source movement of today, the principles of which are nothing new and are in fact biblical- freely sharing (your work) amongst mankind (as far as is possible to do so and still earn enough to live). From all I've heard of him and Melody, such as them opening their house to the homeless, it seems like they really tried to live these and other Godly principles.
Yes it is true! Melody Green wrote a biography of Keith's life and explained his motivation. He believed it was wrong to charge people for something they needed so badly...Christ. Of the 200,000 albums sold, 60,000 were given away for free. (It think this was his "So you want to go back to Egypt" album?)

Yes it is an incredible example. In fact, his biography (written by his wife Melody Green) called "No Compromise" has challenged my own convictions and my willingness to follow His leading no matter the cost. It is truly an incredible biography of an incredible man fully committed to Christ.
He decided to do all of his concerts free, and give away all of his records at no cost, after a discussion with Leonard Ravenhill, a true prophet of God.

Romans 10:9-11 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
(Please note in this Romans passage and also the 1 Samuel passage the use of the word heart which you disparage above.)

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. I don't understand what your argument against this man of God is, but you have forgotten how to love and how to share out of love. John 14:12 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. John 15:14-17 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another. (Keith is following His Lord's command by sharing his heart with us out of a love for Jesus and a love for His Father.)
When you criticize a brother I have to wonder if the love of God resides in you. John 15:18-25, If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you. A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, "They hated Me without a cause." (You seem to be hating Keith and therefore Christ, without cause. Check your heart. Why are you critical?)
1 Corinthians 9:11-12 If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things? If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more? 1 Corinthians 9:14 Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel. (This is in response to your criticism that Keith was supported in the ministry with monetary gifts.)
Keith was not a prosperity preacher. He did not become rich off the ministry. He gave away to others. He took people in off the streets into his home. He does not deserve your criticism.

Please take your hate and judgment elsewhere. Keith Green was a godly man who sang for the glory of God. Of all the people you could have chosen to attack, you really missed the mark on this one.
