    Great video, Thanks for the upload! I recently got a used 5B rtr version (purple parts). It had mostly been stored and not run very much, so it is in excellent condition. I have been gathering 5B SS parts for an upgrade as it was my understanding that the steering servo gears on the RTR are nylon and the diff isn't that good. Those are the 2 main upgrades I want to do to mine and I have accumilated all the parts (NIB) for a very good deal. I also installed a Super
    bee kill switch, which I highly recommend as your first upgrade for any 1/5 scale.

    I know it's an old video but awesome advise. I live in a condo so no room inside the home for my Baja or DBXL. They stay out in the balcony. I use carburetor cleaner to clean them then I spray everything with silicone spray and wipe down. The rims and wheels I use McGuires ture shine but I'm going to start using either AmorAll or 303. Lucas Red and Tacky is an awesome grease. I rub a very thin amount on the axles and linkages to keep them from rusting, use them on the bearings and also the the ring and pinion on the diff. Great stuff. I've had my Baja for 4 yrs now and for the first 3 the only upgrade I had was the RPM arms. Recently I have added the SS pipe, K&N filter, Turtle Racing shock tower braces, velocity stack from DDM, and finally new fuel lines. I personally am not a big fan of all the aluminum upgrades. Haven't really broken anything on the Baja. In 4 yrs I have gone through 2 spur gears. That's it. Great video.

    I'm an old timer in the Hobby... 37 years. I'm just breaking into 1/5th Scale. I'm in hilly, rocky, desert Area. As far as power, I'm looking for Torque over raw horsepower. I'm trying to get into this on a VERY shoestring Budget! I'm a Disabled Veteran, and not bringing in much, but I need RC, for my Sanity!! I LOVE the idea of much bigger, I'm hoping I can.....
    I get what you're saying.... I like a *few* shiny things on my RCs - but have always been Performance over Bling! Like you said, I wouldn't waste money on aluminum Control Arms, or other critical Suspension parts.....
    But what's your take on RPM replacement Control Arms and thicker skidplates?? I've trusted RPM parts on my 1/10th and 1/8th Scale Buggies and Trucks for the almost 4 Decades I've been doing this.
    I've also tried explaining about flex on impact vs. bend or snap.... usually to deaf ears, with $1000 *1/10th Scale* pieces of pretty JUNK! Our harsh terrain necessitates some strength upgrades.
    I examined the RPM 5B Replacement Control Arms. They're beefier around the end pivot balls and at the attachment Point to the Chassis. Also, reinforced lower Shock Mounts, with skid plates under the Shocks.
    The Rears are also significantly beefier, and they're made out of a reinforced Nylon, in the US.
    All that is fine and good, but I can't find any feedback. It seems like there are very few 1/5th Scale Gas people, here. MANY in Canada, but they're not easy to talk to all the time.
    Do YOU have any input/feedback? You seem pretty experienced in Big Scale.
    Sorry I wrote a book!
    Carmine 🚂
    I'm not quite ready yet. I've got more research to do.

    I've had some issues with my Baja. Also bought used. But none of them has been the buggy itself. It's been other brand parts put into to it. I had non stock servos come with it and I had to replace the throttle servo because it had a chipped gear. Tires I also replaced. To Pro Line back and Hostiles front (front ones had started to crack from gravel bashing). The buggy came with SS upgrades i.e the pipe and 26cc engine (which was never started before) which I broke in proper. It runs like a beast and is actually far more fun than you would imagine even though it's not a MT or a bullet car.
    What I have come to learn though on any 5th scale gas rc you really need the filters on the engine (pullcover/crank/airfilter) and a killswitch. Fortunatly I never had a runaway but was really close to it as the throttle servo broke. $40 investment or $1000 rc replacement. Or even worse you hit something or someone going full throttle. Even stock they do somewhat 35mph+ and weighing in a 20lbs you will break a kids leg easy.

    Hi!! Thanks for such a great help!!
    I do have a question, I bought a Baja 5b a couple years ago and never used it. How to do a hard start and what to do. now!
    I don't think the other guy cleaned nor did my thing to it before sending me by mail. and I never even attempted to do anything cause I didn't take the time and and never risk to damage it. Please help.

      @nitrokyosho  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      well i would give it a good cleaning and check the gear box for oil and make sure all the electronics are working correctly and check all the bearings for grease to start off

    Good video, I bought a king motor dark knight and I can say that there new nylon plastic is not as good as Tamiya let alone kyosho and your right about the aluminium there cast Ali is crap 💩 so for after 2x 10 min outing (running in) I've snapped rear hub carrier, shock caps, rear brace, front bulkhead, snapped front end of my chassis, now everything is hpi plastic or integy Ali for precaution when renewing chassis for mod 3 integy chassis I installed integy diff gear housing. Engine is 30.5 fuelie I notice hip use fueli engine too, I wish I just bought the kyosho scorpion instead of this now.

    What do you mix your saber at I have heard people say you can mix the really good oil‘s at way leaner than the standard 25 or 28 to 1 are used to run the dominator oil in my motocross bike at 32 to 1 and that worked out well not sure how this would work in one of the smaller regions

    • @nitrokyosho
      @nitrokyosho  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used the baja buggys recommended mix from the manual

    Nice video.. whats more reliable the hpi 5b or yhe kraken vetka 5? I been looking at a kraken vetka.. or making a hpi baja 5b into a kraken. Whats your opinion? Is yhe hpi more rear end heavy. ?

    • @nitrokyosho
      @nitrokyosho  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like hpi they were the original leaders in big scale buggies, I never broke anything on mine .the only problem I had was when I put the over grippy hostile tires on then I stripped the gear and broke the clutch bell.

    • @mikeinvegas1
      @mikeinvegas1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nitrokyosho great to know.. do u think a good choice would be an hpi baja 5b kraken style cage etc for that look.. or a kraken vetka?
      Does the hpi 5b keep front end down with a modified engine?
