- Playing through all the guitar parts of this classic song. I've tried to get the sounds as close to the original as possible and deliberately placed them high in the mix so you can hear what's going on a bit better. All of the original guitars have been removed.
Hopefully this will help if you are struggling to work out certain parts etc.
Guitar-Wise, I used two Fender Custom Shop Stratocasters for all distortion and Talk Box parts apart from the solo, which was played on a 1998 Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus.
The Talk Box was a Dunlop HT-1 Heil Sound, powered by a Hampstead valve amplifier and recorded via a Shure SM-57 Microphone into Logic. I did use a little stereo chorus, compression an EQ in Logic to get the raw sound a bit closer to the (very processed) original.
All non-talk box guitars were recorded via a Fractal Audio Axe FX 2 with minor eq added in Logic.
Happy to answer any questions if you have any.
Easily the greatest guitar cover of "Livin' On A Prayer" on TH-cam!!
Clay Montgomery - thanks so much for the extremely kind words, much appreciated! If you’re into Bon Jovi- check out the Wanted Dead or Alive solo video I did, too!
You literally sound just Richie sambora with using the talkbox because you used the same type of talkbox and that's my opinion.
Thanks Nick - much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to watch. Much of the sound is in the shape of the mouth, but it definitely helps to have similar equipment!
hater comment. guy absolutely smashed the tone. you can't reduce it to the talkbox, or even the gear. tone is 90% in the fingers.
