Hollie, your today's video has been captivating and made me think " Omg, this girl was just like me in some points" , I'm to claim I do feel identified with the features you mentioned 1) I used to be the kind of child just like you I did fancy watching my favourite films firstly ,to be blunt I basically imposed my will on the rest e.g I used to watch Aladdin over and over again every day and my dad said " You've seen the very film about 10 times, don't you think that's too much?" 2) I was that kind of kid that you referred ,"reckless" I did love get on my house roof , jump on it and saying dirty words to people that were just walking past ( I dunno why xd) today as an adult I cherish the tip of the cliffs , but well the list is long, the list is long, anyway I did like your video so much !!! Wonderful !!

Another super video! I was at boarding school when I was 9 years old. I needed my parents to bring exactly the same food each time they visited. On one occasion they didn’t. Well …… my poor parents didn’t know what hit them! Looking back I think I must have had a meltdown or similar. I said I hated the school, had no friends and wanted to leave there and then. It’s not actually how I felt. But I felt it in the moment when I found out about the missing food - and it lasted for the duration of their visit. Keep making these great videos - you’re helping me unravel many mysteries. Thank you!

It’s weird for me, I have Paranoid Schizophrenia and Autism Spectrum Disorder and I don’t do a lot of the behaviours autistic people talk about, meltdowns, stimming, I don’t have serious sensory issues, I pretty much had minor speech delay and didn’t understand others, had obsessive interests, always had flat affect, it’s a hard life being bullied and a social reject early on which probably didn’t help my paranoia later on. Now I developed Schizophrenia and had a weird meltdown last September where I was screaming and covered in spiders being screamed at by voices and becoming delusional afterwards, I developed psychosis symptoms a month after I got my Autism diagnosis in 2014 (16 years old) which is coincidental and sometimes wonder if there’s an overlap between the two conditions and it’s not unusual for a person with Schizophrenia to have developmental delays especially early onset schizophrenia. I honestly relate to some of the things in this video even if I don’t feel autistic anymore and the nurses and psychotherapist kinda made me feel like I wasn’t autistic because I remind them more of paranoid schizophrenia, even a psychiatrist wondered why I received an autism diagnosis because I don’t show many signs of it other than symptoms associated with schizophrenia. Good video btw, it’s quite interesting in Learning how diverse the autism spectrum is.
Also I agree with both my diagnosis, being diagnosed with Schizophrenia was such a relief as people especially my family believe and support me a lot better compared to when I just had an autism diagnosis and worse even before where I was completely misunderstood.

That sounds like you were misdiagnosed to me, honestly. Sounds more like Schizoid or Schizotypal personality disorder, both of which have symptoms which can be confused for autism, and both of which are associated with schizophrenia. In fact, one of the distinguishing features between autism and schizoid personality disorder is that schizoid people don't stim or have sensory issues.

My daughter is going through her ASD assessment (10yrs). This video describes her and has been a very useful insight. Thank you Hollie!

I can really relate to the body not sending out signals. Not feeling pain properly is big for me. Also swinging of sticks is what I did in the playground.

Thank you for your videos! I always wanted to ask if you use sign language? If you do are you able to express yourself better using sign language than English?

I also was well behaved but still the meltdowns made me "a problematic child" in the eyes of others 😔 Still took until I was 12,5 to be diagnosed and barely any understanding came with it
