Completely rethinking the trip based on this video. I’d hate to get sick and not enjoy my birthday so I’ll take your advice and fly into Lima then to Cusco. Also saw the tour guide you recommended has hotel included in their tours of Cusco!
@@Often_solo yeah it's just so hard to know how your body will adjust to altitude sickness!! It wouldn't really happen in Lima, but people definitely get it in Cusco. So if you do still fly directly into Cusco, just be sure you're going a few days before you go to Machu Picchu or Rainbow Mountain so your body can adjust. People recommended to me to arrive at least 48 hours before I hiked Machu Picchu so I could walk around and get acclimated
Sounds incredible. You are fearless, really next level adventure traveler! I must say you are energetic, highly detailed, very organized vlogger. This is an enjoyable and educational video. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🫶🏼🌟💫✨️
Thank you for your video. I’m 61 years old and I will be traveling solo. This will help me plan it. PS just to let you know that when I’m taking off my make up, I take wipes with me. Foundation make-up does stain white towels, even for a white person. Happy travels.🇨🇦
@@marilynschmidek3890 you’re welcome! And thank you for the tip I did take makeup wipes but I don’t think white people get accused of their skin being dirt which is the larger issue :) I hope you enjoy your trip!
I am so proud of you, my fellow social worker. I’ve been wanting to take a solo trip trip but I’m such a scary but. You name any arena I’ve worked in as a social worker, but scared to travel solo. I am so tired of my friend. I’m in the New York area. I have been in Thailand and I have a wonderful experience. I would really like to talk to you more.
I’m late! But hi thank you for sharing. This video it helped me get a general knowledge on a guide to Peru as a solo traveler. I do have a question though. What did you for your phone for data call and text. Did you do the $10 international thing with your phone carrier or did you get a SIM card at the airport. And also if you generally do get SIM cards for other countries you visited. Thank you!
You're welcome! And I used my international data plan which was $10/day so it's more expensive than an eSIM - I need to switch to T- Mobile and get rid of AT&T to be honest lmao
@@Sojournies 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have AT&T too and this was me in Barbados. I went for 6 days and my bill was over $300 with the international plan. Granted my phone bill and Apple Watch is in that price too. AT&T really is a pain 🤣
Yeah that's so interesting! I felt like they could have told me in a little better way and not called it dirt lmao but someone also told me this has happened in the U.S. - either way lesson learned! Lol
I’m flying directly into Cusco in March. This was really helpful.
@@Often_solo yay! Enjoy your trip

Really good to know I hadn’t considered that at all!

Ah the wash rag fee. Yep been there in Spain, overseas lodging places charge for those small things we use on a normal basis.
