Wildfires are truly terrifying. But when these planes arrive everyone's eyes light up with hope. Everyone stops and watches them, and a sense of calm and respect descends. These planes are a symbol of hope not just in Canada, but globally 🍁🍁🍁
In croatia they did 4 minute passes , even 3 minute at times , thats water drop to water drop . One of the planes that has saved the most lives and property in the world if not the plane . Props canadair for the design

This is more than great marketing; this is undeniable facts. I hope, that the US Forest Service isn't forced to recognize the reality. Rather, it makes to right decision to upgrade to better equipment.
Canadair firefighting airplanes are awesome, but for the love of God, countries need to band together and place enough orders to get the production line back online. For example, Greece has been struggling with fighting huge forest fires with 40 year old Canadair for years. And while they are holding incredibly well, they are prone to technical issues due to age, some are unfortunately lost (like the one that fell in Greece on 25/07/2023) and replacement parts are notoriously hard to find. This planet needs this amazingly designed airplane to start rolling out new versions to replace and upgrade the existing aging fleet of several countries that are struggling against forest fires. Governments (especially European ones) need to unify on this and place enough orders to revive this production line, otherwise things are only going to get worse for these pilots and crews.
Outstanding improvements for an already outstanding, proven platform. Is terrain following radar an available option for NOE flying?? (*Is it even necessary?)
Very impressive aircraft. Mediterranean countries will be interested to buy this type of firefighting aircraft. But according first information is too much expensive.
So is this model now available for sale? Any planes in service? Only information I could find is Indonesia ordered 7 CL-515's, but in Dec.2020 Viking announced delays in official launch..
I emailed Ab. Wildfire this spring and found out that Alberta has all of FOUR outdated CL-215’s at its disposal. I live in the largest county in Alberta and last summer we had over 600,000 HECTARES BURN! Where were these CL-515’s when we needed them?
It seems to me that the best option with this craft is to field a small fleet, say four aircraft, which, in concert with the operators of other such small fleets, could bring concerted effort to wildfires. I'm thinking that each west coast state committing to obtaining and maintaining, including training and practice, of four such craft and working together in a compact that would match multiples of these craft with Beriev Be-200 craft, working in concert for water and suppressant applications. Having multiple aircraft that can reload with nearby water, repeatedly, allows those craft forced to return to an airstrip more grace in their reload and return.
2 canadiers an a couple of helicopters is enough..this combo turned out great in karst slovenia in 2022 on the biggest fire in country history..they saved our asses as a firefighter it felt amazing when the planes flew over our heads
Watching the Fires on Evia today and all of Greece (08 Aug 2021), if only Greece could have had these sooner. Yesterday Greeces' National Broadcaster ERT said there were 105 fires throughout the country. Greece will need 8 if not more. Worst fire season ever for them.
@@chrisperivolaris6750 Viking Air has no deliveries of any CL515 in the world at the moment. Contracts with various countries are in progress and some orders for the aircrafts have been made.
I have nothing against retrofitted large aircraft which can be filled with water at airports but you are never going to beat amphibious aircraft that can continue flying scooping water from lakes and flying
Too bad the CAF didn't buy the SAR version, military leaders always more interested in the post retirement job offers from the US military industrial complex versus Canadian solutions and creating real jobs in Canada, then again what do we expect from this private members only boys club.

Proud to be Canadian when i see these and the older models in action.
Well done you saved the planet and lives by this invention ❤
Greece needs this. Several countries need to go in on this. It's expensive.
We bought too many rafale
@@MS06R-2we bough also to many police cars. 1800 new police vehicles since 2020.
Greece is getting 5.
The addition of night operation capabilities is a great addition. It allows even more productivity at critical times.

when the 415s and 515s planes work togather,,,,they awesome firefighters.
we need it in Greece..
A very impressive aircraft and it makes a lovely sound. Great to hear that there are newer versions in the pipeline.
I am proud of my country for this aircraft
for a good reason, no doubt!
Any improvevents on the 415 are welcome, awesome aircraft
Only crucial improvements are 1000 liters more water, nothing more...
@@kim__jong__un the night flying ability is also super useful as last I checked fires don’t stop when the sun goes down
Very impressive aircraft. Greatly appreciate this information.
Looks like a great aircraft thumbs up and shared.

It is expensive but it can safe houses and other infrastructure worth more than it costs in a single day.
European union is buying 20 of these, croatia italy greece spai portugal and france will get 2 of each.

Is viking building new airframes or upgrading older 415s etc to this standard?
Upgrading mainly the CL215 but also 415s
how about the dimensions? is the same with 415?
Yep.

Croatia ordered two at a price of 108M $
Why the production of these planes is so slow? I mean, they are not cheap and they could easily increase their production capacity.
Do the older cl x15s have capabilities other than firefighting?
I think they have some SAR capability

Was with the program for nearly 25 years: the CAF criticism was the interior volume of the fuselage; just too small.
canada won't pay them to fight the fires,,,,i guess england needs the money for king charlie...
Why why why do we not build a better version of it . What has happened to America .
