Hi 👋 yes I very much like the Japanese coffee touring pastime, it’s a great way to enjoying motorcycling and the outdoors. It’s a shame that here in the UK open fires are not allowed almost everywhere. But we can still tour and make nice food and drinks in our own way.
I rather liked the video, and it was a welcome break from what might otherwise have been a busy morning here in California, but now, for the rest of the day, I'll be worrying that you left your thermos bottle sitting on that bench next to the reservoir :)
I enjoyed the commentary along with the visuals. I also like the ones without speech as well, so make what you like. It'll probably be good. By the way, I'm envious of the scenery in your neck of the woods. Living in North central Texas, we don't have much at all that looks like this.

And you saying that I should talk in my videos has stuck with me, so I'm trying it (although it took a while). I don't know why YT doesn't push your channel more to be honest, you deserve a much bigger audience.

@@UncleLongbeard I wonder if maybe your titles are causing YT to "shadowban" your channel. A lot of your videos, particularly the ones where you're on tour, start with the same three or four words. Maybe the algorithm is seeing that as potential spam and hobbling your channel as a result. Might be worth going through your videos and changing the starting words to your titles and see what happens.

Don't think I've ever seen so little traffic on the snake pass, live in France now but used to ride these roads all the time, brings back some happy memories.

I really appreciate what you do with your videos along with the narration and history details of where you visit. Your landscape is amazing and much different from here in L.A. Here I ride to get away from the highway traffic and tend to go towards the mountains and along the Pacific Coast Highway. Cheers! :)

Glad to see you out and about. A new Gerbings, how great, Mine is 40 years old this year. Old style sleeved jacket liner. Old style on/off switch gear, Simple. Still works. It always felt good to pull to a stop and have steam rizing from my collar. Pretty damn nice. Good ride. Beautiful place. This time of year take what you can get. It has been pretty good here in Kentucky but a couple weeks of winter is coming. Single digits, little snow, heavy frost everyday. Makes for some sketchy riding. Have a good one Matt. Ladybower brings back very good memories to me from riding all around there when I lived in North Staffordshire, beautiful part of the world. Have to agree with you Gerbing heated jacket and gloves make a huge difference to winter rides as I'm always warm and toasty however cold it gets down here in Snowdonia!
The heated gear is such a game changer, I’m always surprised by guys trying to look hard saying they’d never use it 😁 I wouldn’t be without a set of heated stuff for winter.

I like this style, good balance of narration with great video/ photography. It’s a bit early for me in Scotland. I think temperature was around -5 last night but can’t wait to get out
Good choice of location. The last time i was on the road alongside the reservoir was March 2019. The weather was outstanding and I had a glorious ride. Took some beautiful photos and it's one of those days i will never forget. Some secluded little pockets of England are just wonderful. And only an hour from home. Lucky us. 😊

Hey Matt, the narration is really working for me. I think you've got the tone just right and the audio is great - warm, friendly but also a little understated. As others have noted, perhaps the extended POV footage in the second half is out of place with the rest of the video. I know there are folk out there who love that stuff, but it's not for me. By the way, there's a somewhat grim parallel that you might be interested in: the countryside around one of the main targets of the Dam Busters, the Möhnesee dam here in Germany, also has some lovely motorcycling roads.
Thanks Simon, yes I quite agree. I'm not 100% sure why I tacked it onto the end, maybe a lesson learned not to edit when very tired 😁. I've heard that the Möhnesee dam is a great area to ride in, as is a lot of Germany. One day I'll get over there!

Yes no problem, I’m fairly short for a guy at 5’6”. The T120 is a relatively small bike compared to most modern bikes, but I’ve seen people over 6foot comfortably ride them so I think they’re a good size for most people.

First: Happy new year! New Belstaff jacket? Looks like the Crosby. I sold it last year so I could buy the McGregor. I have been a Belstaff fan since 2003. Long before the Hipsters discovered the brand.

I needed a larger jacket that would fit over a heated coat (my others fit great for summer, but a bit too tight with another jacket underneath) Like you, I’m a bit of a fan of Belstaff. The McGregor’s a lovely looking jacket, I was very tempted to get one myself. But I got a really good deal on the Crosby so that’s what I went for. It’s nice, just feels like a less good version of the Tourmaster Pro I have. It’ll do for winter though!

A little talking would really enrich your videos. Just don't be shy. It shows a little more who is behind these great videos. Finally I see someone for whom tea with milk is completely normal. I know in Britain it is normal, but here in Austria people drink tea without milk. I've been drinking it this way since I was a child. But when I order tea with milk in a restaurant here in vienna, I always get puzzled looks. :D A funny story: I was on Lake Garda with my partner and ordered tea with milk for breakfast. We were served two glasses of milk with a tea bag. :D :D :D
@@rramirrezz same place as you! Could see anywhere that might be better, just getting the drip tube in place was a pain, still needs a bit of adjustment I think.
Great vid as always. I can’t help myself. . .is there ANY other way to attach that tank rack without the plastic suction cups? LOL. I can’t stop looking at them and thinking how off putting they are on such a beautiful classic! All in good fun, and assume you get it. Leather straps would be far busier, but I’m noodling on this. . .Again, great vid!
I felt the same way too when I first got it, but I’m not drilling my tank and I was reliably informed that suction cups weren’t unheard of on original Bonnie tank racks. I don’t notice them now anyway 😁
Matt, have you changed your exhaust? Sounds more burbly and lowe in pitch than before, perhaps a new microphone position? Nice to hear your comments on where you are and a bit of historical background - keep them coming😊
It’s the same exhaust, just my never ending experiments in trying to capture decent exhaust audio, managed to record something that sounds a bit like my bike for once. Not quite there yet though!

Thanks Steve. I got the light from a breaker on eBay so I’m not sure what it’s come off, I think it may be a HD unit though. To mount it I needed to put crash bars on and then added a little bracket, both from eBay also. Then I just made up my own simple wiring loom for it. I’m not into auto electrics at all so if I can do it anyone can 👍
Thanks, glad you think so. The Gerbing gear was great, didn’t need to put anything on its hottest setting to keep nice and warm and it’s very comfortable. I’m planning on doing a proper review video soon, once I’ve used them a decent amount. 🙂

yes exactly. I have a Bonneville T120 Diamond Edition number 397 of 900. with 7200km and looks brand new, completely original. If you have interest you would be the perfect buyer which I would give my bike.
Nice one. Good to chat. How was your Gerbing heated jacket? I’ve recently bought a competing brand and been delighted with it. Just a long sleeve Marino base layer and then my Halvarssons Naren over the heated lightweight ultraflex . Very snug on medium setting in 4c. No need now for multiple layering which never completely kept my core warm anyway in temperatures close to 0c
It’s great, I had the ‘other’ brand last year but found the sleeves weirdly short & uncomfortable. This one fits perfect and has a remote control for the temp, which is actually super useful.
Not a quick answer I’m afraid 😁. It’s on its own wiring loom, so the light is wired straight to the battery, then there’s a small switch I got from Amazon which takes a feed from the auxiliary power line, that goes to a relay which then goes into the loom. That way I can operate the light safely. I think you can buy general ready-made looms for auxiliary lights if you don’t want to make your own though 🙂
I made my own wiring loom up, but it might be easier to just buy a generic auxiliary light loom from Amazon and alter it a bit. Personally I have the light running on it's own cables to the battery and then there's a handlebar mounted switch that takes a feed from the auxiliary power socket (under the tank), then that goes from the switch to a relay spliced into the light loom. That way the light can be switched on or off safely without being exposed to the full charge of the battery.
Brill thanks so much, the one Ive ordered has a high and low beam so was thinking along the lines you have. Run a fused wire from the battery via a isolating switch to the relay then use the high beam signal to power the relay for high beam 😊 Will be in Devon in June this year ill look out for you Cheers Kev

Good choice of location. The last time i was on the road alongside the reservoir was March 2019. The weather was outstanding and I had a glorious ride. Took some beautiful photos and it's one of those days i will never forget. Some secluded little pockets of England are just wonderful. And only an hour from home. Lucky us. 😊

Hey Matt, the narration is really working for me. I think you've got the tone just right and the audio is great - warm, friendly but also a little understated. As others have noted, perhaps the extended POV footage in the second half is out of place with the rest of the video. I know there are folk out there who love that stuff, but it's not for me. By the way, there's a somewhat grim parallel that you might be interested in: the countryside around one of the main targets of the Dam Busters, the Möhnesee dam here in Germany, also has some lovely motorcycling roads.

Yes no problem, I’m fairly short for a guy at 5’6”. The T120 is a relatively small bike compared to most modern bikes, but I’ve seen people over 6foot comfortably ride them so I think they’re a good size for most people.

Yes it’s a new Crosby. I needed a larger jacket that would fit over a heated coat (my others fit great for summer, but a bit too tight with another jacket underneath)
Like you, I’m a bit of a fan of Belstaff. The McGregor’s a lovely looking jacket, I was very tempted to get one myself. But I got a really good deal on the Crosby so that’s what I went for. It’s nice, just feels like a less good version of the Tourmaster Pro I have. It’ll do for winter though!

Finally I see someone for whom tea with milk is completely normal. I know in Britain it is normal, but here in Austria people drink tea without milk. I've been drinking it this way since I was a child. But when I order tea with milk in a restaurant here in vienna, I always get puzzled looks. :D
A funny story: I was on Lake Garda with my partner and ordered tea with milk for breakfast. We were served two glasses of milk with a tea bag. :D :D :D

@@ClassicRides i ordered the sparepart cobrra NDN2-B15 - that has 15 mm more length - so it was easier to mount than with the original holder..

Great vid as always. I can’t help myself. . .is there ANY other way to attach that tank rack without the plastic suction cups? LOL. I can’t stop looking at them and thinking how off putting they are on such a beautiful classic! All in good fun, and assume you get it. Leather straps would be far busier, but I’m noodling on this. . .Again, great vid!
I felt the same way too when I first got it, but I’m not drilling my tank and I was reliably informed that suction cups weren’t unheard of on original Bonnie tank racks.
I don’t notice them now anyway 😁

It’s the same exhaust, just my never ending experiments in trying to capture decent exhaust audio, managed to record something that sounds a bit like my bike for once. Not quite there yet though!

Thanks Steve. I got the light from a breaker on eBay so I’m not sure what it’s come off, I think it may be a HD unit though. To mount it I needed to put crash bars on and then added a little bracket, both from eBay also. Then I just made up my own simple wiring loom for it. I’m not into auto electrics at all so if I can do it anyone can 👍

Glad you liked it. The luggage rack is Triumph’s own, but it’s the version that comes with a back rest, I just took the back rest off 🙂

Thanks, glad you think so. The Gerbing gear was great, didn’t need to put anything on its hottest setting to keep nice and warm and it’s very comfortable. I’m planning on doing a proper review video soon, once I’ve used them a decent amount. 🙂

yes exactly. I have a Bonneville T120 Diamond Edition number 397 of 900. with 7200km and looks brand new, completely original. If you have interest you would be the perfect buyer which I would give my bike.

Nice one. Good to chat. How was your Gerbing heated jacket? I’ve recently bought a competing brand and been delighted with it. Just a long sleeve Marino base layer and then my Halvarssons Naren over the heated lightweight ultraflex . Very snug on medium setting in 4c. No need now for multiple layering which never completely kept my core warm anyway in temperatures close to 0c
It’s great, I had the ‘other’ brand last year but found the sleeves weirdly short & uncomfortable. This one fits perfect and has a remote control for the temp, which is actually super useful.

Not a quick answer I’m afraid 😁.
It’s on its own wiring loom, so the light is wired straight to the battery, then there’s a small switch I got from Amazon which takes a feed from the auxiliary power line, that goes to a relay which then goes into the loom. That way I can operate the light safely.
I think you can buy general ready-made looms for auxiliary lights if you don’t want to make your own though 🙂

Hi another great video thanks for posting, can I ask I’m putting a side fog light on my T120 also but was wondering how you wired it up thanks ?
I made my own wiring loom up, but it might be easier to just buy a generic auxiliary light loom from Amazon and alter it a bit. Personally I have the light running on it's own cables to the battery and then there's a handlebar mounted switch that takes a feed from the auxiliary power socket (under the tank), then that goes from the switch to a relay spliced into the light loom. That way the light can be switched on or off safely without being exposed to the full charge of the battery.
Brill thanks so much, the one Ive ordered has a high and low beam so was thinking along the lines you have.
Run a fused wire from the battery via a isolating switch to the relay then use the high beam signal to power the relay for high beam 😊
