Teach Your Dog to STAY even when Distracted - Dog Training Video

People are always surprised when their dogs do something wrong, but rarely take responsibility for it. If you don't train your dog, you're responsible for the dog's wrongdoings. I focus on control on every dog ESPECIALLY when that dog is a dominant dog like an Akita!

I agree with this training. The main problem with many owners is that they want someone to “ fix” their dog. Or they want to fix their dog themselves but in just a few training sessions. Ha! Training is a daily practice.

In light of 4th of July coming up - my dog doesn’t get scared of the fireworks but we live directly across the street from our city’s firework display and I’d like to get her some ear protection just to prevent any damage to her hearing. Any suggestions?

I agree with the concept... what I don't agree with is using leash pressure as the distraction, when leash pressure is something that you're trying to teach the dog to understand. I think you're confusing the dog. The distraction should be food, a toy, a child playing, a bicycle, anything but leash pressure. It seems to me that you're sending mixed messages to the dog.

Isn't the idea that if you tell your dog to sit, stay, down, or whatever the command is, to do that regardless of what's happening? No matter what distraction or pressure?

You should try the quarter mile sit stay and recall
